Tacos are amazing. Delicious and the staff is great too. They use fresh ingredients and the meat melts in your mouth. Please check them out!

Okay, so at first, I wasn't planning to write any more reviews for the foreseeable future. Just…read morebecause I wrote one review recently didn't quite mean I was warmed back up to Yelp just yet, and if I'm being honest, I'm still not. Between a removed review causing me to go missing from Yelp for 6 months and losing my trust in posting my reviews here on Yelp, I let go of my Elite status and am now back to square one. But after driving my mom to Manor Inn so she could attend an event there, I decided to look up spots around there since I did spot that their wait times were going to be extensive. That's when I decided to go here and see what was good. Honestly, after I encountered the parking situations in both places and went into the restaurant, I knew I had made the right call. I was seated immediately, given a menu, and even given some complimentary chips, salsa, and a plate of refried beans sprinkled with some cheese. Now, refried beans and salsa are not foods I would normally eat because my food palette don't usually like those items. But with these tortilla chips, they were both very flavorful, and given this was complimentary, they were all the more appetizing. I should also mention that my waitress, Sayda, was very nice and prompt whenever she came to my table. Answered any questions I had, and had no problem with my orders. So from the menu, I went with the Tropical Twist, their Calamari for an appetizer, the tacos de barrio for dinner, and even ordered churros to go so I have something for when Winter Storm Fern dumps 80 million inches of snow tomorrow and into the next day. Oh, might I say, everything was delicious! I knew I couldn't have alcohol because I still had to pick my mom back up and then drive back home to Waterbury, but that Tropical Twist was a nice consolation if you can't have alcohol. The fried calamari was also another great choice. That dip it came with was so addictive it was like crack, and the perfect thing to pair with fried calamari. If there's one thing I would say could be improved, it's that they could be just a smidge more liberal with the fried coating. There were some pieces that had some small spots that had no coating at all, but nothing too major. For the tacos, MMM MMM GOOD! The meat was tender and flavorful, the presentation was great, and the consome paired deliciously with the tacos. It's definitely worth the $20 they cost. The churros were also pretty good. I can't say they were the best churros I ever had because the place that made my favorite churros ever closed down back in 2024 and had since become a dog grooming place, but if not for that, then I might make a case for that statement to be true. The chocolate syrup it comes with is divine and a nice sweet treat to finish off the night. I was in and out of the place in maybe a slight smidge above half an hour, so I would say all-in-all I'm glad I came. The place is also well decorated, bathrooms are clean, and the ambiance is inviting and casual. Now, I may still need to gatekeep a few reviews here and there, but this place was a step in the right direction in getting my confidence back in Yelp. I would definitely come back here again whenever I get a chance, and I highly recommend coming to check out this place if you're in the area. Oh, and for comparison's sake, it was an hour and a half between when I was finished here and when I could finally pick my mom back up again from Manor Inn. Take that as you will.

I walked into this place for a late dinner- they close at 10 but their kitchen closes at 945. The…read moreplace was spacious, with neon lights and floral decor, with a small, but perfect sized bar, where I sat as a solo diner. I called ahead to make sure they made their own michelada mix, which did not disappoint. It was more on the tangier side but delicious nonetheless. I got their chicken mole which came with white rice, different than any other mole dishes I've had before. Their white rice was some of the best I've ever had- to say the least. The refried beans were delicious (they served me tortilla chips with salsa and refried beans as soon as I sat down). The mole was a good sauce, certainly on the spicier side - hot and strong spice favor. Everything was good, I could see myself going back for a michelada and trying other things off their menu next time. I definitely won't pass up on their in restaurant fried tortilla chips, that's for sure, they were delicious. Thank you Loteria!

We finally made our way to Monterey Restaurant after multiple "you HAVE to go" recommendations…read more.. and I'm here to report: our friends did not lie. Walking in on a Sunday afternoon, I expected a sleepy, post-brunch wind-down. Instead? The bar side felt like someone accidentally hit "Saturday night" on the playlist. Music, people dancing, great energy--like a low-key fiesta you didn't know you were invited to but are immediately glad you showed up for. Not overwhelming, just the right amount of "should we stay longer than planned?" (we did). Let's talk food--because this is where things get interesting. They start you off with chips and salsa, and let me say: this is NOT your standard "here's some chips while you wait" situation. These were dangerously good. The kind where you keep saying "one more" until you realize you've eaten your body weight before appetizers even arrive. Speaking of appetizers--we went full commitment mode: - Chips & queso: excellent, no notes. Creamy, flavorful, gone in seconds. - Mexican street corn: above average and honestly appreciated--why don't more places put this on the menu?? - Nachos: THE HEADLINER. The Beyoncé of the table. The reason we will absolutely return. Perfectly built, generously topped, and somehow every chip got invited to the party. These alone are worth the trip. Then came the entrées... and here's where things leveled out a bit. They were good. Solid. Enjoyable. But after that appetizer performance, expectations were sky high and they just didn't quite hit that same level: - Shrimp enchiladas: shrimp played it a little too safe--kind of like they didn't want to offend anyone. - Burrito Loco (with queso on the side): crowd-pleaser, no complaints. - Beef birria burrito (mine): tasty, but leaned a little heavy on the rice--like it was trying to bulk up for winter. Still good, just not the star of the show. Important note: none of this was bad. Not even close. Just overshadowed by how strong the opening act was. Now, the service? Outstanding. Attentive, friendly, and genuinely fun--like they actually enjoy working there, which makes a huge difference. The kind of service that keeps your drinks full and your mood even better. My one critique--and it's coming from a place of love: The menu is... ambitious. Like "we can do EVERYTHING" ambitious. It feels about 50% too big. At some point you start wondering, "what's the signature here?" Trim it down, focus on the hits, and this place could go from great to elite. Final verdict: Will we be back? 100%. Am I already thinking about those nachos? Also 100%. Would I sit on that bar side again and pretend it's Saturday even if it's Sunday? Without hesitation. Monterey delivers great vibes, killer apps, and a fun experience overall. Next time, I'm coming hungry... and maybe just ordering three rounds of nachos and calling it a day.

We ordered Tacos de birria and Quesa-Birria both came with consome bone broth. Both were very good, but the meat was just a bit fatty The establishment was clean and our server, Karla, was friendly and made sure we got all we asked for. Had to opt into the bathroom selfie lol. And the mural is stunning
