Tallulah's was the caterer for my partner's 50th birthday celebration on 12/15/12. This was the first time I had ever booked a caterer, so I really had no clue what I was doing, but from the very start Leah was helpful, offered advice and was so easy to work with. I was able to go to their office to pick up samples of the menu she had prepared and I was sold! Even bringing it home and heating it up myself 3 hours later, it was delicious! The night of the party, Leah, TJ and Tim arrived on time and were so prepared, pleasant, fun and professional. They made the party so special for me, my partner and all of our guests. Every time I tried to do something myself, one of them would say "I'll do it, you enjoy your party." Wow. The price was very reasonable and the food was so delicious. Everyone raved about it! And the birthday cake was out of this world! Tallulah's makes everything simple and fun for their clients. I would recommend them to anyone planning a party or event. We hired Carrie to prepare food for pick-up for a dinner party last night. I had found a farm-to-table-themed meal on Pinterest and I asked Carrie to recreate it for our party. She not only did this, she made suggestions to make it even better. The food was absolutely delicious. Everyone was raving about it! I can't choose a favorite - the chicken, potatoes and salad were all equally popular. Our guests ate nearly everything and everyone went back for seconds and even thirds. Making the decision to have Tallulah's cater my dinner party was absolutely the best decision I could have made. I really dislike preparing food for a large crowd, and I was so relaxed and at ease knowing that the food was taken care of. After a mediocre experience with another local Catering company, we yelped and found Carrie's business. Wow. Carrie worked with us directly to craft a menu for our event, was always prompt and did an amazing job on the presentation of the food. Her and Tim ran our event and we were thoroughly pleased with the results. Their prices are competitive and you can tell they take care in crafting each hors d'oeuvres plating. We hired Tallulah's to cater a fall themed tenant work party. She did an amazing job. It was exactly what we had in mind for a "fall party" when we called her. All we had to say was something about a harvest treat, and she came up with the perfect menu with mini caramel covered apples, mini apple, pumpkin and cherry pies. It was a lovely appearance and all of the tenant in the building thought the same thing. Set up was fast, but very detailed. The food from Tallulah's for my daughter's baby shower was delicious, and beautifully presented! The labels for the selections were in cute little picture frames. All that was left to do was remove the plastic coverings! Effortless!! Everyone loved the salads and sandwiches. Some sandwiches were gluten-free, so we kept everyone happy. I had Tallulah's cater a work event last week, it was a lunch for 300 people. They pulled it off at the last minute and did it beautifully! Nanci was great to work with and had some great suggestions for the menu. The food was fresh and high quality, everyone enjoyed it. What really made them stand out from other caterers was their presentation. Most caterers will bring a drop-off meal on disposable plasticware, but Tallulah's brought everything in beautiful baskets and bowls. Four staff members (including the head chef) delivered the food and set up the entire buffet complete with holiday decor. It looked wonderful and saved me a considerable amount of work. I would definitely use Tallulah's again for a future event and would happily recommend them to someone else. read more

I wanted to save some time as well as try this caterer out for a small party prior to engaging them for a very large event. I took advantage of their groupon with pick-up. Some of the food tasted as though it had been frozen prior and was not fresh, other items were dried out and lacked flavor. These guys were great. I hired them for a small wedding. Originally, I chose them because of all the caterers I contacted, Tallulah's was one of the few that got back to me with an appropriate menu at our price point. (And without all the extras we didn't need.) Now that we're through with the wedding, let me tell you, the service kicked butt. They volunteered to do setup stuff that was not really their job, they brought floral centerpieces we weren't expecting and they were very kind throughout the wedding. And the food got nothing but good reviews from our guests.Through a totally separate connection with roots in Hartford, we were told that they are connected to a well regarded restaurant from the 80s or 90s. I enjoyed an array of delicious hors d'oeuvres at a business networking function. The display was so lovely and inviting. My two big favorites (loved them all) were the sweet potato bites with mascarpone cheese sprinkled with chives, dried cranberries, walnuts and a fantastic morsel of maple-candied bacon. I couldn't keep my hands of these! And, there was a little square mini-flat bread with a shrimp on it. The dollop of Cajun-spiced aioli danced on my palette. I had every intention of preparing a bridal shower for my nephew's fiancée myself, but time and distance (I live in Kansas City) made that impossible. I talked to at least a dozen different caterers in the Greater Hartford area and I was drawn to Tallulah's, because first of all, how could I not want to know what was behind such a great name, but also the Yelp reviews and pix suggested that this caterer would be special. Literally, from the moment she answered the phone, I knew Carrie was the one. She listened to the plan that I had wanted to execute myself and just started giving me great suggestions. In very short order, she emailed me a wonderful menu that was spot on...the food sounded delicious, the price was just a skosh under budget and she was so relaxed and amenable that to be honest, I almost worried that it was too good to be true...but this is a woman that you instinctively trust and that proved to be my best decision! I ended up increasing the budget and adding a few extra items, because now I was fully confident that this was going to be really, really good. I arrived in town a few days before the shower and Carrie wanted to meet me at my sister's house in order to check out the food prep and display area in advance. She was lovely and I felt so reassured that everything was definitely in the most calm, cool, collected and capable hands possible. The day of the shower arrived and TJ arrived early to set up. He was fabulous!!! So focused and meticulous...the food display that he created was spectacular!!! On my best day, I could not have ever created a tablescape like this. He brought two gorgeous complimentary floral displays that were a total surprise (not part of the agreement), he offered to serve drinks (also not part of the agreement), he offered to serve the cake that my sister bought (again, not part of the agreement). He kept everything flowing smoothly from set up to breakdown and even artfully packaged up the leftovers. He was a dream! The guests gushed over the beautiful buffet and raved about the food!!! And we all know, the food is what people talk about. There was no mistaking that this was an absolute hit! It was perfect and so much better than I could have imagined!!! I did virtually nothing. I just enjoyed the shower and was very proud of the result. Tallulah's is incredible!!! If you are reading this and are wondering if a caterer in this day and age would really be as good as all of this, take it from me...Tallulah's is everything that I said it was and more.
