Of course, he would come back with a whole range of DIY crafts each day, but more importantly, with such enriching experiences that he would narrate to me in a great level of detail - how they went to a new park, drew paintings at the museum, tried a jigsaw puzzle that was too hard, how you need to be safe by wearing protecting gloves, what the protocol is if you see a coyote and on and on...this is what I mean when I said he wouldn't stop talking about it! Clearly, Najin takes great care in ensuring that the kids are safe, yet engaged and always learning. While he didn't get to go close to any equipment, my son knew exactly what happened when the clay was baked in the oven or the beads were ironed over so he got to observe and learn. We tried a free art class here and I got to sit in the class. The teacher was very patient and taught her to first draw each line curve etc then they used oil pastels to color, next they used water paint to paint, then they used clay to make dirt. Our trial class is the excavator picture you see. We were very amazed at how much she learned in that one session. We enrolled her immediately. There are multiple make up sessions throughout the week if you need to miss your regularly scheduled class for vacation etc and option to do one on one make up class as last resort as well. We love the staff here and know she'll be in good hands and learn more of her passion here. There's multiple classes going on at the same time based on different art class levels. I've seen kids make sushi with different color clays etc and I've seen kids sketching when I'm pick up or dropping off my daughter so there's definitely lots to learn. My kids are very different in temperament and interest and this is the single camp they both want to do over and over again and so do their friends. Kelly and all the counselors as so nurturing of children's natural curiosity and desire to explore both in the studio and out in nature. As an arts and crafts lover myself, I wish I could hang out in the art studio, it is truly a magical space. I'm not sure what the prior counselor review was about, but I personally have found the counselors to be extremely skilled, the space very clean, and my kids feel very well cared for.
