In May 2022, I worked with an insurance agent at a different company to apply for term life insurance through Lincoln Financial Group. The agent told Lincoln to send me an email for an e-interview form, and Lincoln emailed me many hours later right before midnight. The form asked for my income, assets, contact information for primary and contingent beneficiaries, contact information for my physicians, results of my medical tests and procedures, medications, etcetera. For one month, Lincoln did the underwriting for my policy. I needed no physical examination because my medical records showed that I have excellent health. In June, Lincoln Financial Group issued my policy, and I paid my annual fee in full. I thought that the annual fee of $503 was reasonable for a 30-year term $500,000 life insurance policy for a 40 year-old woman who is classified as "Preferred Plus." In July, Lincoln sent me an email about registering on their website so I can view my account online. Unfortunately, after I typed my date of birth, Social Security Number, and telephone number, the website gave me the following error message: "We were unable to locate your account based on the information you provided." As a result, I contacted Lincoln's customer service representatives through the phone number from the website as well as the phone number from a letter that I received in the mail. The customer service representative told me that because my policy is new (a month old), my information is not yet in their computer system. Not until August was I able to log into my account on Lincoln's website. Also in July, I tried to add a second contingent beneficiary. My agent emailed my PDF form to Lincoln twice. Two months later, Lincoln mailed me a letter that my form was missing a signature. I resubmitted the form, and one month later, in October, Lincoln informed me that they had finally added my second beneficiary. Overall, I felt pleased with the underwriting process and the type of policy, but I thought that I should not have had to wait two months to access my online account and three months to add another contingent beneficiary. have been trying to have a $2500 life insurance policy that began 1980 switched to the beneficiary so they can pay it and not have my parents pay it anymore. after a year, every time they ask for paperwork they send another form letter for more paperwork. small policy. $12.50/quarter payment and they cannot get it switched. the original agent died, his agency was purchased and that agent died so i have to deal with incompetent people that cannot think. in the past year of settling my father's estate, the two smallest transactions have become the most difficult. no one is interested in helping you. after requesting a supervisor, they hung up after a 25 minute wait. find anyone but lincoln financial. customer service is a misnomer. they can only serve themselves....and do so incompetently read more

My financial advisor and I have been attempting to roll over a 403b from a previous employer x4 months. The customer service is impossible--they claim not to have documents they have signed for and give conflicting reasons for not turning over my money. It has been a nightmare with no end in sight. Fraud company after years they cancel policy no communication and they dont care one bit

Terrible communication from their life insurance department. They are more cumbersome to deal with than the government. When you call it's the runaround. Send an email and you get their automated response that your request has been forwarded to the appropriate department and they will be in contact soon. That call never happens. When you call back or email back it restarts the vicious circle of runaround. After multiple attempts I requested a call from an executive and of course no call back. Dealing with their Whole Life customer service has been an absolute nightmare. After having a policy for 30 years, they missed entering a number on the checking account which caused the payment to not go through, so instead of calling or emailing, they stated a letter was sent out a month after the payment should have gone through, notifying of the missed payment and now a lapse in coverage has occurred. Their customer service has been outsourced and EVERYONE has the same script - "I am sorry you are having to deal with this; I understand you are frustrated; I understand we are working to get this resolved." I finally spoke with a supervisor, also outsourced, and she stated she would escalate this to her supervisor for resolution. Her supervisor is in the US and she was not allowed to give me the persons name, email or number. The supervisor assured me she would call me back in 48-72 hours, just like, the 2 previous people I spoke with that never called. So 6 business days after not receiving the return call from the supervisor, I called again, spoke with yet another customer service rep. I asked to speak with the supervisor and was told she was unavailable but she could call me back in 48-72 hours???Really???? After venting I demanded a call back within 24 hours, I am not at all hopeful that I will receive one. I would avoid using Lincoln Financial for Life Insurance it at all possible, this seems to be more of an orchestrated run around to delay delay delay. My mother-in-law signed up (and paid the full premium in one shot) for a long-term-care memory policy with this group back in 1997. Now that we are trying to put in a claim, they are making it very difficult to do so. We have been working with them since December 2022 to no avail. They have received everything that they have asked for from the family, from her financial advisor, and the three facilities that have taken care of her. In fact, they have received their requested info multiple times as they keep asking for the same info. One hand does not know what the other one is doing in this group. We are now looking into hiring an attorney to get satisfaction. My company uses them for short term disability. Literally takes forever to get approved and my case manager never answers the phone. I'm going to be back at work before I even get a disability check. I already have my billing providers calling me. They can approve FMLA in 48 hours or less, but STD takes at least two three weeks, and then you wait another two weeks for your check in the mail. I have submitted a direct deposit form which obviously nobody has inputted. Stressful and ridiculous. read more

Her quarterly payment was $38.64, but recently she received a letter stating that it would be raised to $482.00 per quarter because of her age (53)! Beware of doing business with this company, because they will do the same to you! They will take your money for years, and when they feel they are getting close to possibly paying out on the policy, raise the payments to a ridiculously high rate, you will drop them. That way they can say it was you, not them that decided not to continue with the policy! read more
