It all started when I realized 2 of the nurses didn't like me. If I spoke they refused to speak back. I brought this to the directors attention and she said she would "talk" to the staff. The next incident, I went to visit my mother and spoke to one of the nursing staff. She completely ignored me again, same nurse. A few moments later another residents family member came in, and that same nurse greeted him with a smile and conversation. I spoke with the director again, she said she'd handle it. I asked her why her staff didn't like me, she stated that it was because I was intimidating. As if it's my fault that I'm 5'11" and a woman of color. She also stated that since the old DON was gone the staff's opinion about me should change and that the old DON was the one that didn't like me, which was news to me because i LOVED the old DON.The next time I went in to visit my mother, I walked in and she had urine down her leg. Her glasses were gone (something that was a regular occurrence everytime I visited and without her glasses my mother gets EXTREME headaches with her glasses, which turns into a "behavior" from pain, and almost anyone knows that a trifocal is to be worn daily) also she didn't have her walker anywhere near her (after falling the week before). I walked up to the nurses station and asked if someone could change my mother (who had on a depends even though she's supposed to wear pads during the day. I guess her dignity doesn't matter either). The same nurse looked me dead in my face, made a face, and walked away. (All of this is caught on their camera at around 3:45 on 09/30/18 if the owner wants to care about a resident and their family at all). The 2 CNA's took my mom and got her changed immediately. Thank the Lord. I was so upset that I couldn't feel comfortable visiting me mother again, that I started to cry. This of course upset my mother a little so I just left and reassured her she did nothing wrong. I text the director and told her that if this cannot change my mother can't stay here. She immediately backed her staff saying how much pride she has in them (after telling me just weeks before that she knew her staff had an issue with me and that it was because of my looks). She told me she'd contact me the next morning. My husband went in later that night to check on mom, he was in and out to make sure her cpap was on. It was on but there was also no staff around (that he saw) but there was a resident in the nurses station tinkering around (also on camera if the owner wants to care and view the video at around 9:00 PM on 09-30-18) Morning came and went, and she contacted my sister instead. The director then proceeds to tell my sister that my mother has 24 hours to leave or she can stay and I can never visit my mother at the facility. She also told my sister that my husband was in the facility taking pictures when he was checking her cpap!! Which my sister KNEW was a lie because i was on HIS phone when i called her while he was inside of the facility because my phone was broken. He literally went to check her cpap (again, all on camera). My sister says wait a minute here. I just spoke with you last week for my moms quarterly evaluation. Everything was great you said. No complains at all, And today my mother has to leave on 24 hours because two of your nurses don't like my sister? Which you as a director have admitted more than once? The director realizes how crazy that sounds, says she's going to speak to the owner (who we have all asked for information on for several weeks and never get the info to be able to make a formal complaint like you would in any other facility). After awhile the director calls my sister back after talking to the owner and says that my mom can stay for 30 days and I can visit her, but I cant have any contact with any of the staff. So basically even though I'm my mothers only visitor, I can go see my mother sit in soiled pants, with no walker, and no glasses, but I can't say anything to anyone to help her because Im intimidating because of my size and my color? At $4,800 a month? Thanks but no thanks. Fast forward to 10/3/18. I text the director again after getting my mother's cpap results, that show that she hasn't had her cpap on for the last 3 nights.. (and the attached document shows that she handing had it in longer than 4 hours a night for 74 % of the last 90 days. Which means that her memory has been made worse from the lack of oxygen to her brain, since her first diagnosis is VASCULAR DEMENTIA from lack of oxygen to the brain while holding her breath when sleeping. Her cpap is her lifeline). Of course the director doesn't respond to me, but apparently she did go out and check on my mother's cpap that evening since this was a pretty large accusation on my part. She calls my sister the next day and tells her that my moms cpap had actually been unplugged and that my mom couldn't have done it! read more
