So I really know what little extras make your stay enjoyable. From the hook on the bathroom door!, the variety of toiletries, a hot-water bottle for those with cold feet, a folder full of tried and tested local attractions, personally recommended restaurants, to a clock in the bathroom to remind you it is time to get out of the shower and come down to breakfast. Breakfast itself is full of surprises - choice of 4 sausage flavours, 2 kinds of porridge, different teas and coffees, smoked fish and, of course home-made vegetarian choices (which have been cooked on tv on Britain's Best Dish). I have tried to make this a place to stay for those who like good, comfortable living and especially those who love good food. Come and try it out.
As a base for exploring the Wye Valley and the Forest of Dean this place is hard to beat. The rooms…read moreare very comfortable, clean and so characterful that you relax from the word go. The breakfasts are extraordinary for what is on offer - there are the usual suspects, of course but Caroline, our hostess, caters for the calorie-conscious as well. She also does the local area a favour by promoting local foods, which in these days of portion control comes as a pleasant surprise. And after a hard day's touring her garden is an ideal place to rest and recharge the batteries and enjoy a pitcher of Pimm's from the quality real ale pub virtually next door. Caroline is also a fountain of local knowledge and her recommendations for places to visit were spot on. I have visited many such B & B's during my years of touring the British Isles and this one sits quite comfortably in the top 3.
Nicest B& B ever, they were really nice to my kids as well. Would come back. Thanks for breakfast!read more

Helpful, courteous, and attentive friendly staff, always there when you need them, but at the same time unobtrusive. The rooms are really spacious, bright & airy with lovely, modern decor, and as mentioned, spotlessy clean. All the usual room comforts are provided such as tea/coffee making facilities, ironing board+iron and TV. The bathroom was really gorgeous too with a roll-top bath plus walk-in shower. Expensive smelling toileties & beautifuly soft white fluffy towels completed the superior ambiance of the whole building. Breakfast was a delightful experience, with excellent quality locally sourced food, and plenty of it. Some things were even home-made too, like the delicious jams and marmalade. Oh, and better not forget to mention that they also cater for veggetarians. There is lots of attention to detail here, with everything you could want to hand - and if it's not there just ask, & you will be given - with a smile, I might add! I can't praise the owners high enough for their unwavering consideration towards their guests, which in my opinion more than ensures return visits, and plenty of them! To summerize: Outstanding. If I could award more than five stars on this reveiw, then believe me, I would - ten times over!!!
