I was experiencing neck pains for the last few days that was getting progressively worse. I found Dr. Litman through the UnitedHealthcare directory and made an appt. Based on my urgency of seeing someone sooner than later, my appt was scheduled the next morning. The staff is quite friendly, courteous, and, professional, so this review is ONLY based on my 1:1 with Dr. Litman. An hour had passed till I finally got to see Dr. Litman. Dr. Litman looks like Smiegel from Lord of the Rings. Not trying to be mean; BUT THAT'S WHAT HE LOOKS LIKE. I didn't realize how old he was - not to say there is anything wrong with that, but I was abit pessimisstic with his "modern" practices. Dr. Litman sat in his chair and asked me a number of questions; NOTHING related to my neck. He asked me about my family's health. He asked me about my health. He asked me why I like to use 2 digits in my birthdate rather than using one digit (ie.04/02 instead of 4/2) - WHO FRIGGEN CARES! It went on and on on until I finally said, " Dr, Littman, I don't mean to be rude, but what does any of this have to do with my neck? I'm pressed for time and need to go back to work. Are you even going to examine my neck?" He said he always asks these questions and will check my neck shortly. FINE. BUT I AM IN A LOT OF PAIN and my neck has been hurting for 5 days straight. So he proceeds to ask me if I was in a car accident? I said NO. Then he said, "when was the last time you were in a car accident?" HUH?? LIKE 3-4 years ago??? He writes everything down and finally recommends that I get an xray done. Then he says he thinks I might have degenerative joint disease and explains that it's similar to getting a whiplash....from a car accident. OK, everyone can have this disease - my question is how did I get it? If I even have it?? Certainly NOT FROM A CAR ACCIDENT that i haven't been in one for YEARS! Look, he graduated from Yale, I'm sure he's a smart man but his practice is OLD SKOOL and rather just talk and sit there, I was hoping to be examined and help alleviate the pain. He said to come back next week - I can't bare to wait another week! Dr. Littman, I think it's time for you to retire. I left his office informing the nurse that I will not be coming back as I was dissatisfied with his service. She was pleasant about it. Thank you for not being offended. Will never come back to this office.

My wife, daughter, and I have been seeing Dr Litman since 1997. He is our GP, allergist and I am…read morehappy to say friend. He has always been there for us and always treated us with respect. He will call us at home and will always listen to our concerns. He is a well respected doctor in the bay area. He has made phone calls to help us acquire treatment for our daughter at Children's Hospital when another pediatric doctor could not get us an appointment after two years. Dr Litman and his family have always been very kind to us. I know that some individuals have not been happy with his practice but I would like to note he had back surgery in 1997 and while he was out he had two other Doctors cover for him and he as well called patients. He then had a tragic mishap with his house burning down and the lost of his son. He came back and treated his patients with care. Just recently he lost his wife after a battle with cancer. All of these life changing moments and he has been there for his patients. We care about Dr. Litman and will continue to see him until he retires. We are very thankful for his care and knowledge. I am glad to say the nurses of today have improved and that is great, as it has been a few years since he had as great a nursing staff as he did from 1997-2008.

What a delight he is. Great bedside manner, without rush or leaving me with the feeling (as so many MDs do) that he had to get to the next patient. I am one of those people who is very picky about docs, and finding a doctor who truly comes across like they are patient, and are listening, is really important to me. Thanks so much to all the Yelpers who took the time to praise Dr. Fletcher. It was worth it for me to do all that research here on Yelp (so, thanks to Yelp, as well!). You would not believe how many doctors either had NO ratings, or they had low ratings, either because the doctor didn't have good bedside manner, OR because the staff was rude or disorganized. But not the case with Dr. Fletcher's office! I was overjoyed to find out that an appointment had just opened up the next day, so I booked it right away. As the reviews indicated here on Yelp, Dr. Fletcher's bedside manner is incredible. Oh and his staff was awesome too, very polite and accomodating, organized, explained everything well. I worked in a doctor's office once, over 20 years ago, and know it is a HARD job. So kudos to these ladies for keeping things running so smoothly! We had an appt. booked with a very young, female primary care physician a few days prior, but my husband cancelled that appt. because he really wanted someone who was more experienced. Several times, during the appointment with Dr. Fletcher, I kept thinking about what a huge difference there would have been, between the two primary care physicians. I am guessing the other doc (who was a young woman focused more on pediatrics... I had only booked her because she had several slots available) would have just taken a quick look at him and referred him to a specialist. No offense to her, she just didn't have the years behind her! But Dr. Fletcher had decades of experience and knowledge to draw from, and really took his time with my husband, asking many details. Instead of sending him to a specialist, he was able to give my hubby his own recommendations, prescriptions, etc.. I was very impressed. One thing I want to point out about going to this office... be careful when using a GPS, especially if you do not live in the city. When I saw 3838 California on the map, I assumed it must be the California Pacific Medical Center, where my brother had his baby. I should have just skpped the GPS, but nooo. And for some reason my GPS (the one on my phone: an Android MyTouch Q) told me to drive straight past it!! It had us going all the way down to the 4700 block of California, insisting the doctor's office was in a residential area?!? It did not help matters that we were already late due to an accident on 101, so I really appreciate Dr. Fletcher's (and the staff's) patience, and the fact that Dr. Fletcher didn't rush my husband through his appointment. Thank you again Dr. Fletcher and your great staff, for all that you do. My husband actually said to me, as soon as his appt. was over: "I like him." And coming from my husband, who is just about as picky and sensitive as I am... that is saying a lot.
