I'm surprised this doctor/clinic has any patients, if my experience is typical (and reading other reviews, it is). I recently moved to the area and needed to find a new primary care doctor. I called this office (which is convenient to my location), and made an initial appointment.
I went in, filled out the paperwork, went into one of the exam rooms and had my blood pressure taken by a very brusque nurse/assistant. After waiting a while, the doctor came in and couldn't seem to figure out why I was there if I didn't have any health complaints, even after telling him I just moved and needed to find a new doctor. I recited my medical history and family history....and the doctor still couldn't seem to put two and two together. Nor was he interested in getting a copy of my medical records from my doctor of 16 years. The entire time he was in the room with me, other than when he was entering the door, he stood with his back to me, so that I was talking to the back of his head.
After stumbling through that, I was sent through a short maze to find their "lab" area to have some blood drawn for routine tests. This added another half-hour wait. Apparently, the people who check your blood pressure and temperature aren't allowed to draw blood, you have to go elsewhere in the building and wait. I have never been to a doctor's office where the nurses aren't allowed to draw blood for routine testing before, but maybe it's just a layer that was added to try to get people in and out quicker.
At least the lady drawing the blood was pleasant. I asked how long for results and was told it would only take a couple of days, so by the end of the week...and if I didn't get a call that there would be no issues.
A week and a half later, I get a call from a woman from this office insisting I come in immediately to talk about my "xxx disease". [I do not have, nor have I ever had "xxx disease," nor do I exhibit any of the physical symptoms associated with "xxx disease."] I asked her what she was talking about and she referenced blood tests. This was odd, since the only tests that were to be done were cholesterol/triglyceride tests and a complete blood count, but I let that slide. I asked if I could see a copy of the tests before I made an appointment, and she insisted I make an appointment, first. I refused, saying that I'm not going to go into the office without knowing what I'm supposed to be talking about. She got VERY snippy and said she'd mail the tests and would have the doctor call me when he got back from vacation.
Exactly how I was supposed to come in and see him and talk about test results if he was on vacation remains a mystery.
A few days later, a copy of the results were mailed, and included tests that I did not authorize or ask for. (This reeks of possible insurance fraud issues for unauthorized tests, but that's an issue beyond what I'm writing about.) And, oddly, nothing in the test results raised my eyebrows or were not explained by the medical history that I previously given the doctor. Apparently he either didn't listen or didn't put down in notes what I was telling him.
Another few weeks passed, and I got another call from a different woman at this office. She, at least, was not rude, though she, also, refused to listen. She said they needed me to go somewhere or other for testing for "yyy disease" -- a very different diagnosis (with different symptoms) from what the first person had called me about -- and I said "no." (Again, I do not now have, nor have I ever had "yyy disease," nor do I have any of the physical symptoms associated with "yyy disease.")
She paused and then continued in her spiel, until I said that I didn't think she heard me, but I had said 'no.' She, seemed confused, but at least did not resort to being rude (like the previous woman who called me from this office). I re-explained, saying that nothing in the tests was not explained by the information I had already given. If the doctor wanted to tell me his concerns, I was available to take his call or letter or come in to see him sometime, but the results were easily explained by my medical history. She became somewhat incredulous,
Apparently, this doctor delegates diagnosis of diseases to other members on his staff (presumably not doctors, since neither of them identified themselves as such). The office staff are heavy-handed and even a bit bullying in their dealings with patients. The doctor does not appear to listen to you while you're in an exam room with him and doesn't seem interested in interacting with his patients in any meaningful way. I would strongly recommend to anyone I meet to NOT go to this office or use this man as their doctor, based on my experience.
Heaven knows I'm not going to be going in to see him again. I'll find someone else to be my doctor. read more
