The Gumlog Brewing Company in Lavonia was a fabulous find! We were a group of tourists; but this…read moreplace made us feel like home! It was fun and festive with dozens of team flags hanging from the ceiling, screens showing a little bit of everything and table games, video games, darts, and foosball. They had an assortment of beers and a really extensive and creative menu with appetizers, salads, wraps, sandwiches, and grinders. Our group of 5 started with nice cold beers. (They even had a program where people could "pay forward" a beer to a healthcare worker, first responder, educator, or military personnel.....very cool!). Our server, Tricia, was friendly and attentive. We started out with Chips & Dips for the table. We chose black bean salsa and Mexican street corn. Both were really good and the appetizer was just $10. For lunch I ordered the Autumn Berry Chicken Salad Sandwich on a spinach wrap. It was stuffed with tasty chicken and cranberries which gave it a special touch. It came with chips and a pickle and worth the price of $13! Two friends ordered chicken sandwiches, (grilled chicken on a pretzel bun/$12 and the Southwest chicken wrap/$12.). They both thought they were delicious! Another friend ordered the Italian Beef Sandwich, $14. It came with au jus for dipping and jalapeños. She said it was great and full of meat!! The final member of our party had a turkey Reuben, $13. She also really enjoyed her meal. The chef, Stephanie, personally delivered our meals and she checked on us to make sure everything was good. Everyone here was so friendly! I can see why Gumlog Brewing Company is poplar with the locals! Good food, good service, and great prices! I highly recommend a visit if you're anywhere near the area....you'll be glad you stopped in because they make you feel right at home.

Brewery #459 Gumlog…read moreBrewing is in a very small town and seems like some guy took the things from his basement mancave after homebrewing and said, " I want to start a brewery". This man is my idol! The brewery is small, but no space is wasted, there is a nice bar, a decent amount of seating, a shuffleboard table and tons of Bob Ross, Grateful Dead and SEC football decor. I got 2 beers while here, a Mister Lizard IPA and a brown ale. Both were really good. The food menu looked solid with lots of sandwiches and German stuff like pretzels and brats, but I wasn't hungry at the time. Perfect little brewery that any small town would love to have. Oh and I beat my buddy at shuffleboard.

I really am glad that we stopped here to try some of the local beers. I ordered the habanero beer…read more(to be honest I am not sure what type of beer it was - it was close to an IPA I think). We were catching up with family so we did not chat much with the staff about the beers but if we would have, they would have been very knowledgeable and talked all about it. I could taste the habanero finish and it was so unique! I made an excellent choice. We also had the stout and this was chocolatey and creamy. Delicious! Our glasses were plastic. It could be due to COVID-19. Prices were about $30 for 4 people to have one round. The staff was very warm and laid back but not too laid back that we felt uncomfortable to speak to them. I noticed when I travel to the south, I often feel like I don't want to be a burden. According to their website, they have a lot of events. They are easing back into it again after the pandemic. Next time I visit, I can't wait to listen to some live country music. They have a large space in the main seating area. If you went here you would be EXTREMELY social distanced. It seemed to be dog friendly as well (plus). I could imagine this would be a great wedding destination for a barn feel.
