    Flight

Finally got a chance to visit after a year or so wanting to. Large clean facility that also had live music playing in the evening that I was there. The staff was friendly and knowledgeable. I sat at the bar which was about 1/2 full when I arrived and grew to about 2/3 or so full while I was there. I had a flight that was based on recommendations from the bar staff and then a glass of my favorite. The prices were fair and also I saw several people order a half a glass which was 1/2 the price which I thought was an awful idea. The pours both full, half, and flight glasses were definitely full to the top and definitely a good half plus. Will definitely return to try some different varieties

    Thanks, balloon guy!

Great space, but a bit of an odd layout. Likely due to Georgia's bass-ackward brewery regulations. You have to purchase a ticket and go redeem the ticket at the bar for your beer. Then, take your beer back across to the gathering space. Okay, no big deal - get a few Fitbit steps to earn those suds. Went once with my parents and had fun tasting their beers. The dunkel was our favorite. That was probably a 4.5 experience. Nice folks and pretty good beer. Last time we went was for family game night/ movie night just before Christmas. Great concept - just not very well executed. They had a balloon guy which the kids seemed to enjoy. And maybe I did, too! Nice open space with picnic tables, but really far from the source of the beer. And remember, you have to go buy a ticket then go get the beer from the bar on the other side of the building. They had darts and maybe 5 board games, most of which were for very young kids. We waited our turn for the Sorry! Game and played while we drank our beers awaiting the start of the movie. There was plenty of room for a few corn hole boards... They had a popcorn machine, but that was the only food available. We asked in advance about food and they said we could bring something in with us. Not a lot of options for carry out food in Greensboro. The market/deli they recommended had already closed (it was 5:00pm!). So, we went to Holcomb's BBQ - they were having some sort of ventilation issue and it smelled horrible in there with the windows all fogged up. - next time, maybe you could order a bunch of pizzas and sell slices or something. Or have a food truck parked outside? Or Grill some hotdogs? Then the movie started - the sound quality was horrible. I went and asked if he could turn it up... "it's up all the way. We aren't a movie theater." Wow. We went home and watched Elf on DVD. So, anyway, I hope they get the bugs worked out of hosting events because it is a great space and could be super cool! The beer is also good! It would be awesome if you could actually purchase beer in the event space...

Really enjoyed our time at Oconee Brewing. The beer and the atmosphere were wonderful!

Two round disks on the left are from the original building (old mill). Plenty of picnic tables and games on right side

Oconee Brewing is off to a great start and doing many things right as they open their brewery! I had the opportunity to visit the tasting room this past Friday on their third weekend they had opened and it was an incredible experience. Here is a recap: 1. Tasting Room To put it simply, it's the best I've ever been to. The building is an over 100 years old and they have done a great job of merging older elements that showcase the history of the building such as the old disks from the cotton mill with the new, beautiful, glass windows that divide the inside and outside of the brewery. They also had a great stereo system and a live band (jazz) when I visited to create an incredible environment. 2. Entertainment There are two dart boards and four or five corn hole sets for those who love tailgate games. There are roughly 10-12 picnic tables between the inside and outside if you want a place to sit and talk. There are also two tables set up with an array of board games so bring the kids along as well. It's also dog friendly! 3. Beer (what we all want to hear about) Many people get frustrated when new breweries don't have much to choose from, but I think this is a sign of a smart business and bright future ahead when they have limited themselves and chosen not to spread themselves too thin. It's better to have a few good/great beers than a lot of mediocre options. The IPA at Oconee was my personal favorite probably because of my propensity to drink IPAs, but the Habanero Pale Ale had a nice touch of heat on the front end of your drink to offer a unique pair. Both were very smooth even as a hoppy beer. They also had a dunkel that was a lighter option and a porter (I think a porter and not a stout) to offer a good variety across the board. If you are in the area its definitely worth stopping by to check out and it provides a nice complement to the quaint downtown of Greensboro.

This is a great place and we will be back. Very cool atmosphere with corn hole, darts etc. The day we were there they had a food truck and live music! Also very dog friendly. Not to mention the beer was awesome!

We booked this venue 3 1/2 years ago and since my husband is in the military we've had to reschedule our wedding twice. I couldn't have picked a better venue, because they were so understanding about our situation. Jack the owner and Harvey the event manager became like family to me by the end of it all. Always encouraging me and telling me not to worry when I would feel defeated about our hectic schedule changes! Pick this venue to have your wedding, because you will not be disappointed. Our wedding coordinator was Kathryn. She immediately emails or calls you back and is always there to answer any questions you have. She helped out so much from easing differing opinions, to reminding you of things you would have never known to do, and was so key in directing our ceremony. If you're a worrier like I am, she is amazing at reassuring you everything is going to be fine and if something does go wrong she is there to take care of it before you even realize it's happened. She made our wedding day so amazing because we knew she was on top of it all. Burke Brennan was our DJ! He was a delight to work with. He's the type of DJ that would get out on the dance floor and teach you the wobble! Who wouldn't want an interactive DJ!? I also recommend Judy Leeson from At Your Service Catering for your caterer. Judy answered all my emails. Helped me put a light summer menu together, I mean our guests couldn't say enough about the dinner, service and overall the atmosphere her and her staff provided for us. Beside the venue itself being BREATHTAKINGLY GORGEOUS, the friendly staff provided impeccable service! They were easy to work with and every single one of them was professional, organized, and happy. They were full of great ideas, and I can't even begin to describe what a value they are! The venue provide SO much standard with their all-inclusive pricing, they can't be touched by competitors. Anyone who is lucky enough to book their wedding with The Higdon House will not only not be disappointed, but should be prepared to be blown away! Thank you so much for making our wedding day the best day of our life!

Unfortunately, that original order was canceled by the florist due to supply issues. So Royalty Florist was my 2nd attempt at ordering an arrangement for delivery. After purchasing, my first clue this was probably a mistake was the hokey email confirmation I received. The delivery date came and no delivery was made. I called the florist and at first I got a message that the voicemail inbox was full. After trying again, I was able to leave a VM asking about the order I made. Today, I was told by the intended recipient that they received a call at 7:30p the night of the intended delivery date with an unprofessional, downright rude, excuse as to why the arrangement was not delivered. No flowers were delivered, and the entire experience was annoying to say the least. No offer for a refund was made. Update: flowers were delivered BUT they were delivered late evening on the day AFTER the date chosen for delivery and that was after a voicemail was left for the 2nd day in a row. I do not recommend using this florist.

Tonight's showcase was stunning and was such a unique contrast to last month's showing of art. The pieces here are unique yet stunning - like artwork you'd see in large museums. The perk? It is located in a quaint downtown area close to other shopping and dining. The curator is VERY friendly and knowledgeable and takes the time to walk with you and discuss the pieces. She is a resource you'll want to tap into when it comes to the history of the area as well as the techniques behind the artists' pieces that come through. To summarize: make this a stop on your trip to Greensboro! Actually, make a trip for it. You'll be able to soak up some of Georgia's best kept artists and even take pieces home with you. Also, if scheduling allows, make sure to attend an artist reception where you get to meet and chat one-on-one with the talent behind the pieces. This is truly a gem of a spot!
