I told the vet her symptoms and history and instead of doing a pancreatitis lab test he did a cray and claimed she was constipated and gave her an enema. She had been vomiting for 24 hours before coming in. After the enema she got even more violently ill and had bloody stools about every hour. I had to bring her to my vet a few days later to get antibiotics, anti diarrhea meds and probiotics. Then she was finally feeling better and the symptoms resolved. Do not take your pets here if you want them to love a long life. This vet is incompetent.

Our normal vet was closed for the holiday weekend and I found this place online and called on Friday afternoon. The wonderful woman who answered the phone listened to all of my (anxiety filled) questions and let me know they could get him in the following morning. She not only answered all of my questions (I had a bunch!) but she really helped calm me down and gave me warning signs to look for so I would know if I needed to take him in to the emergency vet overnight. When I took him in the whole staff was wonderful, figured out the issue (plus dealt with another skin related issue my puppy had), explained how much everything would cost and set him up with all the meds he needed and a follow up appointment. I am an over dog mom for sure and I couldn't have been happier with this place! Really fabulous experience!

He in fact had a virus, which she would have known if she'd bother doing a blood test! We brought him home and he died. Our pet died due to this woman's incompetence!!! If you value the life of your pet, do NOT take it to this place! What that woman did should be criminal! I will forever regret that we listened to her, but she's a vet; she's supposed to know what she's doing, right? She's supposed to know what she's talking about. I actually had medicine at my house. I was just looking for an opinion. The front staff was not friendly. I was talking to one and she didn't respond at all and walked away. That was before I got my bill. I think it should be illegal for them to do treatments without consulting with the owner, it feels like robbery. I've never even met the vet. My dog's ears look healthy and show no signs of any problems as they did when I dropped them off. I've relied on donations to have these foster dogs that I've had for over a year. Clearly, I should've read what I was signing, but I did not give my consent for the treatment verbally.. It just seems like common decency that they should call and ask first, but I guess that's not how you rob people.

The checkups were uneventful and didn't seem particularly expensive. When we boarded our 3-4 animals here, upon pickup, they all had a strange smell and appeared dazed. It took them several days to get back to normal. I've read that this veterinarian co-locates his boarding animals with his animal shelter aka "the Doghouse." This doesn't seem to be a good practice IMO because one of my former co-workers adopted a dog from the on-premises Doghouse/shelter, and the poor pup had parvo! Because I could not find anyone to perform an in-home euthanasia for my sweet kitty-cat Jewel, years ago, as a last resort, I asked Dr. Pitman who agreed to do it. He was not compassionate or empathetic in the least, as I was an emotional wreck, and my husband was, too. [I took 3 days off work to mourn Jewel's death]. Pittman seemed to be in a huge hurry and wanted to get this over with! This was not my intent. My goal was to get my priest on the phone to pray with me, and for me to keep my fur baby as comfortable as possible while undergoing this sad process. I had Jewel on a towel on my lap, and when Jewel died, Pitman didn't even have a proper carrier that would honor my fur baby [think the blue bags with handles the emergency vet in downtown Huntsville uses] to transport Jewel's body to his truck. Pitman just wrapped Jewel in my bath towel and off he went. My last encounter with Pitman was when a stray cat somehow [without us knowing it] got into our back yard. Sadly, our dogs attacked the cat and his back and legs were broken. Wow, this was really upsetting! I called Animal Control to help me remove the poor cat from under my deck and put him into a carrier for me to take to the closest vet I know, which was Pitman. My priorities were 1. Eradicate the cat's pain 2. scan the cat for a chip/try my best to find the owner [he/she didn't have a collar/ID tag on] 3. determine the extent of the cat's injuries and 4. make an informed decision about a path forward. Long story short, he quoted me a price to surgically repair the damage, which I knew would not be the end of the costs for treating this stray cat - and what quality of life would this animal have after such intense damage? Again, not my cat and we were not interested in having a second cat. I thought it may be my neighbor's cat, and when I found out it wasn't, I was losing focus on what the responsible thing for me to do actually was. My workday morning was completely thrown off by this incident, I was not treated with compassion, I was very upset that my animals caused this animal to suffer and after being unable to locate the owner, made the decision to euthanize the cat. I did not feel like I should have to pay the entire price for the euthanization since it was not my animal, and I made this clear to Pitman. Reluctantly, Pitman did discount the procedure and I recall he charged me $150-$175 that morning [this was somewhere in the 2011 timeframe]. Thankfully, that was my last interaction with Pitman. Thankfully, there are abundant kind, compassionate, community-focused, veterinarians in the area now, who desire to, and actually do garner goodwill in the region, who put their patient [the fur baby] and the animal's needs first, and who also foster and grow compassionate relationships with the animals' owners, and do not prioritize power, wealth, and eradication of certain dog breeds.

No greeting, no urgency, no nothing. They claimed they do not handle emergencies even though on their website they state they do. There was a MAJOR lack of compassion and inability to even want to TRY and help. On their website they state : "Our knowledgeable staff and modern facilities are equipped to handle a wide variety of medical conditions, including emergencies." You obviously DO NOT have any of those things, and I would suggest removing that statement from your website. Not only is it not true, but it's incredibly harmful and dangerous to people who have animal emergencies and are pleading for help. If you are having an emergency, DO NOT GO HERE. These people do not care.

Choosing Dr. Patton and Northway will be the best decision you could make for the care of your beloved pet. I'd take the other reviews with a grain of salt. One person describes several diagnoses (if that's what they were) that were incorrect, but provides no supporting documentation to back up all those visits and problems. Another person complains about rudeness from an administrative staff member, which is highly subjective, regarding how a dog's teeth might be cleaned. That does not speak to the entire place, anyway, and certainly not to the competence of the staff that treats the animals.

My cat was diagnosed with cancer recently and Dr. Aswin and her staff have been amazing helping me with his care. I had struggled to find a vet that would prescribe proper cancer medications to help my little buddy feel more comfortable in his final weeks, and Winchester Road Animal Hospital went above and beyond. Prescribed the medicine he needed and sent me home with a trial flea medicine for my kitty to try. When I ran out, I called and left a message for a refill and they had it ready in an hour.
