Good local spot for seafood in Union County, NJ. I try to stop here whenever I go to visit my parents in NJ. Really fresh seafood all the time. They always have live crabs, usually female. You can also purchase frog legs, octopus, snails, live lobster and also seafood mix (which is great for a stew). The store is divided to two parts, one for purchasing and the other for quick meals. My family and I went to this place in hopes of finding a place close by that would be as good as Keyport Fishery. Unfortunately, this place didn't meet our expectations. We ordered fried shrimp, scallop, crab stick platter. The shrimp was deeply fried and oily. The fried scallop was mushy, as well as the imitation crab stick. It was gross and poor quality. Unfortunately, I went against my first mind and decided to buy some fresh fish from this Market (only after i'd ordered their fried fish before and it was unseasoned and less than tasty). The fresh fish was fine, but at the end I noticed their Blue Crabs after i'd already paid for my Fresh Fish. I decided to come back after work since it wasn't far and decently priced. I ordered 1/2 dozen blue crabs.... this is my FIRST time ordering blue crabs and I couldn't get my partner on the phone. The Red shirt wearing cashier, who seemed to be the manager, asked me if I wanted them steamed and seasoned; unsure, I said no. When my partner called back less than 1 minute later and told me to get them steamed and seasoned I told the cashier and I quote "I'm sorry sir, I actually DO want them steamed and seasoned. I'm sorry" He shook his head took a deep sigh and told the man to steam and season them. I said "If it's going to be a lot of trouble please don't worry about it." He says "It doesn't matter to me"...... Excuse me? Listen, it costs you nothing to be patient and kind to people. I don't have to spend money where I don't feel valued as a person. While I understand it is frustrating to deal with people who change their orders and have requests I also understand that it was NOT that serious. There were no other customers in the store and they seemed to be having nothing to do listening to the blaring music. I declined my order and decided not to eat there. I DO NOT BEG PEOPLE TO TAKE MY MONEY AND TREAT ME WITH RESPECT. But if that's something you don't mind, eat here, of course at your own risk! read more

My husband has gotten crabs from here before and they were ok the first time, he went a few days ago and they were very dried out inside, it was possibly cooked too early and given to my husband late in the afternoon. Maybe stayed in a warmer for too long. However I did buy some fresh seafood once and it was fine, prices aren't too bad. read more

The owner/counter guy was really helpful and nice. It does bother me that they do not place warnings when shellfish is fake. Purchased scallops today for $8/ pound ( not sure of how much it would usually cost) I brought them home and my Dad laughed because they were imitation. Also crab sticks are imitation as well. I normally love seafood, but I'm not a big fan of fried seafood... So imagine my disappointment when I went in there and found out they had a steamed platter but wouldn't omit the hot sauce for me. I didn't ask for a replacement, or substitute I just asked him to not put on hot sauce. Lindy's has a fairly small selection of seafood but it is fresh and in good condition, although I cannot say for sure if everything is fresh and never frozen. Typical fish fillets are flounder, cod, salmon, whiting, and probably a few others. The salmon I purchased was great and the shrimp are fantastic. My Dad enjoys oysters from this place. I have not tried the fried seafood here recently but I am looking forward to it. I understand that they are opening the fried seafood counter again soon. Why it was closed I do not know. I have been going there since the 1980's, and although the ownership has changed over the years, I think it has always been good quality seafood. Some say the crabs are expensive, well yeah, crabs are expensive, so what's so new about that. The people who complained about dried out crabs are right to complain, there is no excuse for that. Someone compared this place to Keyport Fishery, but this is a totally different region that lacks the resources of a place like that. This a good seafood place in an otherwise congested area that offers mostly low quality food options. This is one of the few shining stars of this area. read more

I love the fact they have Combos which take the guessing work of putting a platter together. Staff was extremely friendly and very informative on any inquires I had. Extremely poor customer service. Simply inquired about the freshness of the fish in the display case and received a very combative and arrogant response from the owner. So unnecessary and unfortunate. The last time I purchased fish for my family it fell apart while being fried usually an indication of an old product. They never have Maryland crabs anymore. When I inquire about them, they would laugh in my face. After new management had taken over, they never have Maryland crabs. They need to remove the big sign off from their store and on their business cards, if they plan not to supply this item. I am highly disappointed........ Well after reading the mixed reviews and seeing the pictures posted I was going to take a pass on this place , but was a few towns over and decided to give it a shot. I wish I didn't . First off this place is a hovel of a place , with very few fish options as far a seafood market and what they do have is high priced . This place is more of a fried fish sandwich takeout place. The appearance of the place as you first walk in looks dirty , but after standing there for awhile I realized its not so much dirty , its a well worn out aged business without ever being upgraded , so things are simply run down. They advertise crabs largely outside when you pull up into the small parking area in a semi industrial part of town , and the first thing you see when you walk in is milk creates with med. , large, and jumbo already cooked blue claw crabs in the creates . So I took a shot and ordered a doz. jumbo ( but they are not jumbo , just larger blue claw crab) I give this place 1 star because the crabs were OK , wish I knew what waters they were fished from and would have rather seen them live and cooked to order , not re- steamed to order. BUT MOST IMPORTANTLY IS , WHAT THEY CHARGE FOR A DOZ. CRABS IS RIDICULOUS. NEVER AGAIN. FOR WHAT THEY CHARGED ,I COULD GO AND SIT IN A CLEAN COMFORTABLE PLACE AND HAVE A STEAK AND LOBSTER DINNER W/ WINE. read more
