The only reason why I went to Lin's Grand Buffet was for those cream cheese wontons. They are very delicious! I haven't been to Lin's in probably several months. I didn't notice anything new that they had added to their buffet line. I had a plate to go and got some: Lo Mein, Sesame Chicken, butterfly shrimp and some pork/veggie egg rolls. The food was good. Chose this place because it was the highest rated Chinese place in town (my traveling companion just couldn't take any more Tex-Mex). Pros: - Decent atmosphere. - Decent selection. - Friendly, if somewhat incompetent, staff. Cons: - The worst Chinese buffet food I have had. The worst Chinese food I have had. Almost the worst FOOD I have had. - Some buffets usually stumble on one or two things, but excel at something else. Lin's was uniformly poor quality. Chicken overcooked. Soups over salted. Noodles in some sauce my Chinese companion could not identify beyond "fish sauce thinned with dirty dish water." Dumplings inedible. Lettuce half wilted and flecked with rotting leaf pieces. Sushi almost indistinguishable from plastic. Fruit had funky taste - like it had been dusted with dust. Yuk. - A few dishes under the wrong names. Sesame Chicken labeled General Tso's, and vice-versa. - Staff kind but mindless. I pointed out the mix-up on the chickens, and the response was, "They're both fried. Same thing." I persisted, noting one should have a spicy sauce, and the other a sweet sauce. The answer was to pull the label from one and stick it above the other's label, so now one side of the island showed one pan that is both Sesame and General Tso's chicken, with an unidentified pan of similar-looking chicken next to it, and the other side still mislabeled. Also had to step over the broom and dustpan lying across the walkway a few times. No one was in a hurry to pick it up. Had to wait a minute or two for a staff person to show up and move the high chair placed in the center of the walkway for no apparent reason. - Restroom needed mopping and cleaning, and had that heavily-used smell. - Cost. $15/each. Bottom line: Just pass. Buck it up and have more Tex-Mex. read more

Best chinese buffet I have found so far. As a truck driver really is hard to find a good place to eat. On a recommendation I decided to try this buffet. I was extremely surprised, not only was the food fresh and great tasting but the atmosphere was relaxed as well. The staff were on their toes and kept you drink filled. Was the best crab Rangoon I have ever had, The sesame chicken was awesome, the sushi was a little bland but edible. The green mussels were good, had a little kick to them. (what you expect being a mile from Mexico). Well worth the money! Next time I come to Laredo I definitely will go back there. The place is freeeezing! So is their food!Ugh. Some Latino stir fried my choices and he just left my beef & veggies on the grill and left to go refill the ingredients on the bar. The place stinks like purple Fabuloso! They drench their dirty rags. All the employees do is wipe everything down with it and the buffet tables as well. It doesn't smell like food. They keep sweeping in front of you like they want you to leave. That's all I saw everyone do. As if management tells them to clean all the time. Sushi bar my butt! They had just a few pieces there. As a Professional Driver, trucker, it's hard to find good places to eat. Food was excellent. They were out of sushi when we got there, but they were more than willing to make a fresh custom roll when asked. Price is normal, about $15 including drink. Well Lins is the place for you, what the Mongolian grill selection lacks in size, it completely makes up for it in flavor. Beef, chicken, greens, garlic and depending what time of day shrimp. These are a few items the Grill has to offer that make your taste buds go nuts!
