To top that off, it does have a large indoor decor shop with a small cafe to grab a quick snack or dessert. As far as enchanted garden for the Kids: You could spend an hour maybe two here. They have swan paddle boats, a little train that goes through the 9 acre nursery, and a bit of animals to pet & feed. The only warning I have is watch your hands around the pig (he got my wife pretty good). I wanted a specific outdoor landscape plant. I called ahead to make sure that it was in stock so I wouldn't waste a trip, as this place is not close to where I live. Even though the number of employees greatly outnumbered the customers, nobody seemed very interested in helping me locate my item. First, they told me that they were in the building so I went and searched through the buildings didn't find them. I went back to check in and was told: they're here somewhere, you just have to look around. Keep in mind this is a huge place. I walked around the outdoor garden center multiple times looking at every tag of every fern and not finding what they said they had in stock. I had to seek out help from multiple workers. Most gave vague answers and were disinterested. There was one attentive employee, she said it was her first day so even though she was willing to help, she didn't know about the inventory and where items were. So frustrating! I'm here. I'm ready to purchase, but nobody can point me to the item that they said they had in stock that I would like to purchase. I probably won't come back. What a time dump. This message is for Mark, the owner of Lintons. This is the first time I have posted anything on Yelp and I had to set up an account to do it - which I never do and I don't have time for, but I felt this message is that important for you to know. And after reading some of the other reviews, you need to know that despite the money you put into building this place, you could end up losing it all if you don't turn this thing around. Mark, this is the second time I have purchased pots of decorative grasses from them, and within a couple of days one or more of the grasses started curling up. Last year I bought 10 of them, and brought back 2. Your people relented and finally replaced them, but they fought me the whole way. I just bought two more 3 days ago. Both were still in their original pots in my back yard, and one was clearly not doing well. When I called them this morning, they said they don't warranty the grasses - that I was free to purchase something else but if I brought it back they would just throw it away. It wasn't like I planted them incorrectly and they didn't survive the winter - it didn't last 3 days in the same pot they sold it in. And it wasn't like they were all well cared for, several were on their side out by the highway. This really a nice looking place, but your people don't really seem to care about customer service at all. What a lovely place. So many different plants to choose from. I went on a warm day and got a pleasant surprise. The sprinklers outside went off. They do have signs up saying which hours they go on. It was interesting to see the water plants they had. Inside they have all kind of home decor Many things that I liked but did not need. Did that stop me from buying them..... Also many unusual things that you could gift someone. I wish we had a place like this near home. read more

This place is rather cool however everything that they advertise... take with a grain of salt. I brought my kids here today after looking up online what to do... here's what they advertise on their website: (Before I dive in I must note that if you see an attraction that you would like to partake in, you have to purchase tickets all the way in the front and then go back to the attraction) Train: "A fun, relaxing narrated tour of our 9 acre Garden Centre aboard Linton's Enchanted Express Train. We'll traverse past our display beds, thru our plant nursery, around our pond, past the petting zoo and thru the train tunnel before pulling up to the Train Depot." ACTUAL Train ride: It was cute... it lasted for maybe 10 min, definitely wasn't a "tour through 9 acres of garden". It hit the main points of the place but it wasn't worth $20 for a family of 4. Pedal Go Cars: Weave in and around the trees while racing around the track with the foot powered pedal cars. ACTUAL Pedal Go Cars: This is a joke. Their are 4 cars and you literally go in a 50 ft oval. Definitely NOT worth $3.99 per person. Japanese Koi Feeding: This activity brings fun and giggles to all who do it! For only two quarters cents you can enjoy feeding hundreds of our aquatic friends clamoring for your undivided attention. The fish feeding station is located near our Lighthouse. ACTUAL koi feeding: My kids were actually quite excited for this. Once we got to that area, we found that the feeder had been taken out and there is no sign of getting food elsewhere, it wasn't until 45 min later when we were leaving and in the gift shop (NO WHERE NEAR THE FEEDER) that we saw bags for fish food for $.99. Petting Zoo & Bird Aviary: Visiting our furry and feathered animal friends is FREE! Feeding them only cost two quarters! Sit in the shade and relax while watching our 4 legged friends. Our Petting Zoo is located in the southwest area of our Garden Center. ACTUAL petting zoo & aviary: First of all like EVERYTHING else you have to go all the way up front to have anyone assist you with anything (instead of having people manned at the station). The aviary is just a small enclosure with 30(ish) small birds. The "petting" zoo is a donkey, pony, pig, a couple goats, and a couple chickens. You can't go into their enclosures so just hope that they're by the sides of the fences. Also, if you want to feed them... just another thing that you have to go up front for. Unfortunately there are SO many things that they advertise but are just so disappointing: Quad bikes, Shooting Gallery, Water Orbs, Swan Paddle Boats (one family waited for 20 min to get on this just to paddle in a circle). This place seriously has SOOO much potential, they need focus more on attractions that they advertise or not advertise them at all. This could absolutely be a Michiana staple if they did it right. read more

The plants: Don't bother calling to see if they stock what you're looking for. They won't know or will tell you wrong. Apparently they don't have a computer system to show their inventory! Also, prices are rather high and plants not that well taken care of. The kids' attractions: Prepare to shell out a lot of cash! The "enchanted" decor everywhere: It is tacky, and that, plus the kid stuff, means you'll be doing a LOT of walking to find your plants. I did like the gift shop. read more

It's a fun place to visit but if you are ordering from the florist i would not recommend. Prices are high for what you get. They will show a picture of pieces with twice as many flowers as what you will receive. I understand those shots are fluffed up to look the best possible, but when the picture has over twenty flowers and then one you receive has less then ten it becomes false advertisement. read more

We first went to the Cafe. We ordered food for our group of 4 adults and 5 kids which came to $68. We waited quite awhile before the worker came out and yelled to us that they didn't have the French toast! The French toast was 2 of the adult orders and we were dividing one order between 2 kids. She was very rude when we went in to order new plates. She overcharged us for the additional food and we paid $14 additional. The kids already had drinks that we paid for since it wasn't included in the French toast breakfast. But now they get free drinks with there kid's meals, which she was not going to give to us until we asked. When she served the food she announced the plate and I told her it was for the girl behind her and she threw it down on my table and said for me to give it to her. The attractions were great. What sets Lintons apart ifs the cool (whimsical) houses and decor both inside and out. Bring the younger kids and they will get some exercise. Barely one star. Falsely advertised right in the name. Not enchanted and a poor garden. Classic example of a business trying to do many different things and failing in all of them. Advertised as Indiana's largest home and garden center, the home stuff is overpriced tschokies and the garden items are, again overpriced, many poorly cared for. I was attracted to their claim of have a large variety of plant material, which is mostly true. However, why would I pay more than full price for a plant with weeds or trees growing in it? Or spend $300 on a Japanese maple that had been laying across a stone path for 3 days? Much of the plants is either over or under watered (yes, I check that stuff). There are many in Proven Winner pots there have poor growth or are FULL OF WEEDS. I've been a professional landscaper for over 30 years and have never seen such poor care of plant material in a self described garden center. I also thought it might be a cute place to bring our grandchildren. Again, no? Lots of neat looking well made "enchanted" buildings and scenes. But no kids allowed on or in them. The few kid-friendly items will bleed you of cash and entertain your children for a very short time. I would avoid this place if you are looking for plants, for family entertainment or for quality reasonably priced garden goods. However if you want cranky bored kids, a pot full of weeds or have a chunk of change to throw away, this is the spot for you read more

Wow, what a neat place! We talked about coming here all summer but it was always too, hot so we waited until August. We were here for an hour, and would have stayed longer but they were closing. Our daughter loved it here. Prices were a little high for some plants, but I think for the quality the price would be more than worth it. And they offer a "guarantree". Tried to buy fresh cut flowers for my six year olds dance recital. One person working the counter and no one else around. I grabbed some daisies and a couple ferns from the cooler and walked to the line at the counter. I was asked if I found everything alright and I replied with yes. Then I was asked if these were from the "flower of the month". I stated I didn't know what that was. She said it had to be carnations, daisies and ferns. I then asked if I could just get the daisies and ferns that I had got myself and brought to the counter. Young lady said I could not, so I left and went to buy my flowers elsewhere. read more

The store itself is lovely (a bit overpriced) but their online map led me to believe they had lots of activities for children. We drove 45 minutes and when we arrived there was very little to do. The "activities" are so small that it was like a joke. We left with our 2,5,and 6 year olds all crying. The only thing they enjoyed was the small petting zoo. read more

Okay, so they attempt be helpful but don't really follow through with customer service. Purchased $450 in trees to be delivered 15 miles. After 7 weeks of constant run around canceled the order. Don't buy anything if you aren't taking it with you. They don't return phone calls, each time we contact them you must go into store as they have ZERO communication skills. I entered the outdoor garden area today. There was a group of about five workers standing by the entrance and I asked if they had black eyed Susan's. The response from the group was "I think so, but I don't know where." After asking where they would guess they were that kind of pointed in a general direction and said probably out there somewhere. The gardening and decor parts of this place are lovely and fun, but my personal favorite is the cafe! A friend and I went last night and they were closing up the cafe because it was awful outside, but the lovely lady at the counter still got us both amazing mochas and a wonderful chocolate cake (if you ask which is the most popular, it's that one). Worst customer service EVER!!!! We went to McKinley Terrace today and had awesome customer service however they did not have a few items we were looking to purchase. So we decided to go to Linton's. After walking aimlessly looking for a worker, we asked if they carried a certain plant. The employee quickly answered "no" and walked away. What?!?!! No "is there're anything else I can help you with?" or even a suggestion on a substitute plant? Nope. Nothing! So we tried to find a cart to load a yard statue...none were found. We carried the statue (a good distance) to the checkout counter. We get there and another employee (who we thought was coming to ring us up) walked in between us...to grab a bag of popcorn (which he promptly began eating), looked at us and walked away. I had been wanting to go here for a year and finually got the time to go yesterday. I was totally disappointed. Tree's were knocked over and had been there a while, the place needed weeded, the fountains that they had working barely had any water in them, the train ride was a joke, expected the driver of the train to point out plant areas, and tell you about the place,the employee's knew nothing about the different plants, well 1 employee did but that was it. Had to go into the huge gift shop and find the cashier to get a map of the place. There weren't any large markers at their plants in their landscaping at all. So if you liked a plant no one knew what it was, much less where it was located to purchase. If you did purchase a plant they gave you a receipt to take back inside the gift shop to pay then you had to go back outside to the train depot to pickup your plants to go load into your car. The plants weren't in great condition and over priced just as everything else there. This place has a lot of optional if ran better, and redone. read more
