Find yourself another activity and don't play here. Hate to write this review but was the worst golf experience of my life. This is a shoemakers dream. Unlike most mountain courses, this one does not attempt to be so hard it can't be mastered. With a mountain stream running through its entirety bad shots are paid for in golf balls and added strokes. Most courses in the area are dishearteningly difficult with holes carved out if the side of a 45 degree slope. Check out the pictures and you will agree Linville Falls is a great course! Give them your business. 5 star friendly. The clubhouse is not fully stocked and that's the only downfall. I would have bought swag if they had any that's how much I like this course! Hit it straight!

I'm local and I'll just say that I've played this course more than I probably should have. As the…read morekids say, "it's mid". They like to act like this is a premier course and charge accordingly ($60). I recently played twice in the span of a week. Both times I will say the course was very nice but there's a catch. Normally, the course has a season where everything is just right. The other 9 months of the year, it's either a swamp or dry and dead. If you hit the season right, then you'll be in for an enjoyable 18. The staff is 50/50. Half are very helpful and friendly. The other half are arrogant and uptight. On my last round, I was met at 6:30 on #13 and was told I needed to have carts in by 7:30. No problem. He then continued with a very condescending tone as if we didn't understand pace and then continued by telling us to limit play to double. I'm 46 years old. I understand pace of play. What he neglected to realize was that we allowed people ahead of us to speed play along, and then we ended up waiting on them. The issues I have are inconsistent course conditions, arrogant staff, and price. They did away with their driving range a long time ago but they recently repainted the sign pointing to it so it may be coming back. The positives are when it's good, it's a very nice 18. Not overly difficult but challenging enough. Greens were speedy and I liked that. So if you're around in mid to late summer and want to hit a moderately difficult course, try it out. It's worth a shot at least once so you can check it off your list. A repeatable 18 each week...no.

I asked a waitress if there was a rule regarding cell phones. She replied there was not a rule. In addition, there were various other people on their phones too. The manager then came up to me and told me "it was okay to text". As a paying customer, I found myself offended and flabbergasted. If there are "rules" regarding anything, you need to have appropriate signage and hold everyone accountable. If you are that concerned about your membership being offended by someone being on their cell phone, perhaps you should make the club and restaurants member only. This was unacceptable.

The front 9 is a standard golf course. On the back 9, put away your driver and play your irons. The older gent was correct! This course is tough and tight. The greens were lighting fast and that wasn't a bad thing. Our entire group thoroughly enjoyed the experience. Definitely worth the 1 hr drive to get there. The only downsides were that they have no driving range but they do have nets to hit in to. The other downside is that there are no hotdogs or other fresh food at the turn. They do have vending machines that may or may not house stale pork rinds. I'll be returning again. The grass was beautiful, the greens tight, and the surroundings beautiful. I highly suggest it but make sure you leave the slice and snap hook at home.

It's crap. Go somewhere else…read more Boone Golf Club is a better if you're looking for a public course and it's in Boone, a quaint college town. Still smack dab in the mountains but isn't in the middle of nowhere. So there's restaurants, shopping and entertainment just a few minutes away. And it's an easier drive to the cute little town of Blowing Rock.
