My son have been doing archery there for about a year and I joined few months later. The Coaches are nice and friendly. Coach Lee is very observant and guides you freely. She let's you explore and directs you to the correct form/method. We do variety of shootouts which keeps it very challenging and fun at the same time. The facility is very clean. My 12 yo son was interested in trying out fencing after watching a YouTube video, so we tried this place--and now two months later, he's only missed a week due to an unrelated injury. He comes twice weekly for 90-Minute lessons for a fantastic workout, and really looks forward to each session. He shows me what he learns, and is super enthusiastic, and it's helped his hand/eye coordination, too. I love the instructors--they are friendly to boys and girls, and it's a positive and safe environment--and the kids really get a nice workout, working on balance and actual technique. I'm excited to see where this goes! I'm hoping I can convince these guys to help out with a fencing team once he starts high school. What a great sport! read more

I've been wanting to learn more about archery, so I found the closest to my home and a few people on Facebook had recommended it. I first took their intro to archery course that teaches you all about the bow and arrow and stance and that was really fun! Everyone, from the front desk, to who I talked to on the phone with 1 million questions, and instructors have all been so amazing, fun, helpful and just all around great and knowledgeable people. We've been bringing our boys here for quite a while now. If you're looking for quality fencing instruction and caring instructors, this is the place. Maestro Lee is a great fencing instructor. He teaches the children every aspect of the sport, including good sportsmanship and proper fencing etiquette. He and all the other instructors here are very good with children. They are patient and make the sport fun. There are other fencing schools much closer to our house, but we choose this fencing studio because of the quality of instruction and the fact that their philosophy on the sport matches what we want our kids to know: (1) good sportsmanship is the key, (2) athletic stamina and using your brain is important, (3) respect yourself, your opponent, and your coach. Fencing is a terrific sport. It combines athletic ability and mental strength. My kids really enjoy it. read more

Took my son to Archery & Medieval Sword Fighting camp here this week. The school itself seems to be good. I like the instructor's way of interacting with the kids. It's so far from my house I can't sign him up for regular classes, but I would consider it if I lived closer. The only reason I've left four-stars instead of 5, is sadly, because of other campers. I guess, when you give certain kids a weapon, even one that's basically a broom handle with duct tape on one end for the handle and with a foam end attached for a Nerf-style spear there's always going to be some kid who seems to have been raised by wolves who will go overboard with the whole honorable battle thing. Kid, there is no honor in continually slamming the handle end of the spear into your "opponent's" belly over and over bruising him. Remember, it's NOT A REAL BATTLE. YOUR PEERS ARE NOT YOUR ENEMIES. When I signed my son up, I figured there would be plenty of bruises with this camp. Seems like the nature of the beast. It's just sad that another kid would intentionally harm another. I am fairly certain this wouldn't happen in an actual class. This is typical for camp though - no matter what the camp is about - there's always that one kid who really has no business being there. And regardless of the problem child(ren?), my son has really enjoyed his week at camp. read more

This is an incredible Fencing club and the coaches are second to none. Camps are rigorous and engaging and classes are awesome. Stuart Lee is not only a terrific coach/Maestro, he has a great rapport with the kids. The kids strive to please him and get his approval, because he teaches respect for leadership and for the sport. We needed this type of club here in this area. The sport of fencing attracks all ages and Maestro Stuart Lee is so friendly, and welcoming. He offers private lessons as well as classes in Foil, Sabre and Epee. There are changing rooms as well as an equipment repair room. He even has equipment for sale. Friday nights are a blast when all the club members come looking for a good fight! My teenage daughter has been fencing at Lionheart for two years and I have been fencing there less than a year--warning! Very addictive! I planned on fencing once a week, then it expanded to twice, now I fence three to four times per week and have entered several competitions. Great facility, wonderful instructors. This place attracts quality people with emphasis on sportsmanship, fitness, and strategy. Kids love it here, adults love it here, and even the teens and tweens love it. I brought my mother here for her birthday with a Groupon. Although there was some miscommunication on our date and time, but they were super flexible with us and made room for us to use the archery. Very good studio from my observations and research. Positive coaching, very nice studio. The parents I talked to all love this studio and the coaching. Very low turnover here, unlike some fencing studios I've observed (such as LFC). My sons enjoyed the trial class and the coaching. The warm up was effective and enjoyable. The studio was clean and one of the nicest ones overall that I've been to. It compared favorably to Golubitsky studio and LFC as far as order and cleanliness. The coaches here were really good with the kids. The only downside: I didn't see much as far as competitive training or getting kids prepared for tournaments, which is why I knocked off a few stars. As a former competitive fencer myself, that's important to me. I think this is a good studio for recreational fencing, but I don't know if it's the studio for the serious fencer who wants to fence in college or beyond. I could be wrong, but that was my impression. Overall, though, I found this to be a very promising studio and one I would recommend to my friends who are interested in getting started in fencing in a non-threatening way. Even if I did consider enrolling my kids here, it's a bit far from where I live. However, I plan on driving to whichever studio is the best. That's how important fencing is to me and my boys. After moving from Central California (where we were part of a great fencing program), I'm determined to find one of equal or better calibre than where we were. I'll update my review when we decide on the right school. But so far, after observing the classes, coaching, and program here, as well as talking with the parents, I would say this is a good bet for the recreational fencer, possibly even the competitive fencer. read more
