My son just started taking classes here. I absolutely LOVE that their membership includes private lessons with a qualified trainer and unlimited classes. My son loves Kung Fu now! So far, everyone I've met there has been patient and respectful. The coaches do a good job with the kids and I appreciate the fact that they clear out the waiting room during class time to keep distractions to a minimum. Parents can view the class on a zoom link from the comfort of your car, or if your kid takes hours of lessons and you just drop off, the comfort of your home. First off, I'm sure that it's a very good martial arts program taught by extremely experienced trainers. However I had signed up for a trial tai chi class recently and it was not what I had expected. My chief complaint was the loud, ear piercing buzzer that was going off at random intervals for a class that was next to the room where the Tai Chi class was being held. First off, why isn't it in the room where that class was located? I couldn't hear the tai chi instructor half the time. I also did not expect the class to be only 1/2 hour in length. Glad the class was free because this was not for me. I went home with a headache and a massive ear ache. read more

The White Dragon Martial Arts Studio of El Cajon instructor staff are outstanding. They do a great job teaching children as well as adults in a variety of disciplines. I take Tai Chi and in the year I have been going to class and getting one-on-one lessons with my instructor, I have gained strength, better balance and coordination and flexibility. The meditation and breathing exercises proved especially helpful when I had to have a lengthy MRI. What I learned in class kept me calm and relaxed despite the claustrophobic atmosphere of the MRI. We've tried a few places for martial arts for my 3 girls and this is by far the best one I've ever seen. They take the craft very seriously and expect the students to really learn what is being taught. The instructors are very good with kids. They make the lessons fun, yet they balance it with consistent expectations for class and individual instruction times. My daughters are all becoming more outgoing and confident because of their very unique and skilled teaching approach. Our entire family of 5 attends classes and are benefiting from the instruction. My husband and I both have physical limitations, but the staff work with us to accommodate our specific needs so we can progress but not get hurt. I've been to the other schools with White Dragon and the Sifu's were all excellent. I cannot say the same for this school in Elcajon. Sifu Martin Ferreira was extremley unprofessional and downright scary simply because I wanted to observe a class. I did not know that I wasn't suppose to observe this paticular class... It was an honest mistake, but I was verbally attacked with obscenities ("this is my f-ing world") and humiliated in front of the entire group. read more

Group classes work on basic techniques, conditioning, bagwork, and sparring. Your personal instructor will guide you in private weekly or monthly lessons in techniques (weekly is strongly recommended), traditional forms, conditioning, mental toughness, and even the history of the arts on which they specialize. There are also annual tournaments, and seminars from Grandmaster Doc Fai Wong. As with all activities, you get out what you put in. These are arts that can reward you through a lifetime of training. I have studied all three of these arts beginning in 2005 and can say without doubt that I am better for it. White Dragon is the best place to meet nice people and have a good workout. In this location I went here once to buy a windbreaker but the school look nice. I've met 2 instructors from this location and they're awesome. Sifu Ferreira is the best in the school. He judged me at a tournament and he gave me some really good tips to get better. This one tournament the school drew big posters to celebrate the 30th year of white dragon and I thought it was creative and awesome for letting the school draw posters. This has become my second home. I started out researching because I didn't want to join a martial arts school where money was the key factor. A lot of places will say they're legit, but the only way to progress isn't how hard you train, but how much you pay. At White Dragon you receive results based on what you put in. Every class is taught by an enthusiastic and friendly instructor who has a passion for martial arts. They have classes for all ages, and the environment is always positive. I started out with an introductory week of free group classes and one personal training session. After that, I was hooked. This location of White Dragon offers a unique Tai chi qigong class. Martial Tai chi standing postures(!) to increase focus and leg strength, as well as the more traditional quiet standing postures.
