While trying to explain I was going to the car to get my ID. (Keeping in mind I have shopped here about once a week for 6 months or more) the clerk thought it was appropriate to cut me off and go on a rude rant about not having it on me. When on more then one occasion I have forgotten it and he has sold liquor to me without resolve. Very rude and I will no longer be spending my money here. I suggest going to JK's liquor about 5 minutes away. Helpful staff and very polite. read more

This was a serious rip-off; I purchased a box of Banrock Station chardonnay--one of my personal favorites and I am very familiar with this wine. I opened it tonight - Saturday and it had turned! They do not open until 1pm Sunday and I will be on my way home to Canada in early morning. Not only that, I purchased a small jar of very expensive olives and they are mushy--no body to them whatsover. Stay away from this place--they do not have good stuff! read more

If this place doesn't have it - I doubt they make it....Seriously though selection is huge and prices are very competitive. They carry a lot of local bourbon and even have a walk in humidor (which was really nice). Will go back next time I'm in Lexington! read more

This liquor store has a great selection and is well organized. They also carry many local and KY Proud foods, plus plenty of mixers, party supplies, etc. You can also purchase beer on tap, and they usually have a good selection. I primarily come here for wine and they often have discounted bottles as last of the bin specials, and I've gotten some good deals. Most of the staff are very friendly and helpful and they almost always give my 3 year-old a free helium balloon. It has made for a few awkard moments when he tells people that Liquor Barn is his favorite store, but I appreciate their generosity. My husband does occassional home brewing and they do carry home brewing supplies and ingredients here, but the staff are not as helpful in this area as the staff in stores that specialize in home brewing. One other slight negative is that I've had several items ring up for the wrong price. I've always caught it and the staff is willing to correct it, but by the time they find somebody available to go find the item and verify the lower price, it takes quite a while. If you're in a hurry (or wrangling small children), this is a significant frustration. All in all, this is probably my favorite liquor store in Lexington though, and we often stop by if on that side of town. read more

I bought a Beer Club membership for my fiance from Liquor Barn in Louisville. One day we were having dinner and I noticed the expiration date on his beer- it was from 2011. We then went and checked the rest of the beers he had just received and all but ONE were expired! He had actually saved some of the beer bottles from the previous month and those were expired too. Several were from 2011 and others from earlier in 2012. At this point, we had only received 2 months of beer so approximately 8 out of 12 beers were expired. I will never go to Liquor Barn again. When I noticed all the beer was expired, I called the manager and he, after much convincing, agreed to refund my money with one caveat- that I pay for the beer I had received. I was not going to pay for expired beer. He finally gave in, but I will never go back there again. read more

They have a wonderful variety of liquor however the ladies at checkout did not put the wine I purchased in my cart. I spent 232.00 and thank goodness I realized it when emptying my cart and placing the purchase in my car. I am from out of state so leaving $80.00 of wine would not have been good. When I went back in to ask about it the lady states " You forgot to place this in your cart". So it's must be a self service and she didn't even try to catch me before I left as other retailers have. The people who work their are very kind however food is staying on the shelves too long I've seen mold on bread and even on beer. It's a big place but really hardly anyone buys the non essentials. The olive bar is good and the deli side is too but unless you want to pay out the nose for stuff you can buy on the shelves that you can buy at Kroger don't worry about a single lemon you need for $1.00 or a small Hellman's jar for $5.00. Their "wine sale" is a joke they lowered the prices on a lot of wine for example a bottle that would normally cost $11.99 now could cost $11.97, this is a problem because those 6 or more bottle of wine you want to buy for 10% off discount or their wine sale of 20% off don't work because bottles with the price that end with a 5 or 7 don't work for the discount saving you absolutely no money. You can find the basics st Kroger wine and spirits with no loop hole savings plans and you won't be cheated out of a good deal. read more

Typically, I go to Beerworks to get my grains for brewing. They were closed today, so I came to this place. I wish I had just waited to brew. A manager "ground" my gains. However, when I got them home they were mostly whole! I now have to use my coffee grinder to get my 6.5 pounds of grain to the correct size. It will definitely take awhile. read more

Everything thing here is awesome except the staff. I know they have to do their job making sure that minors aren't coming in and buying booze, and I respect that. I look really young for my age so I'm fine with the fact that I'll probably have to be carded til I'm thirty six. HOWEVER, the last couple times I've been in there, they've gone a little overboard. Last time, I went there with my husband on our honeymoon night to pick up some stuff for the occassion. We walk in like six feet behind this group of college looking guys who were also going in. Didn't even think a thing about it until we got up to the counter with our stuff. So the girl at the register is like "um I have to see your id's and all the id's of the people you came in with." My husband and I kinda looked at each other and laughed and said, "oh it's just us." And she said, "um no I saw you come in with that group of guys over there." My husband and I both looked and told her we didn't even know them that we walked just walked in behind them. Well she got on the offense then and we had to argue with the crazy broad for like fifteen minutes before she finally let us pay and leave! Not a big deal, I guess. I know they have a job to do...but seriously?! I don't go here anymore. Too many other good places to buy drinks without them giving you a rash at the checkout counter. read more
