All that I tried were delicious. The bourbon ball, Ruth's Mint Kentucky Colonel, the pumpkin spice. The business has been around since 1919 and is a fourth-generation KY business. I found their business brochure at the Kentucky welcome center and was intrigued immediately. The story of Ruth Booe and her candy making techniques which led to her and her friend's success. Be sure to try or get some of the original "Bourbon Ball" Invented by Ruth Booe in 1938. It consists of a creamy bourbon center with the kick of real bourbon, covered in dark chocolate, and topped with a Southern pecan. I did taste that kick when I sampled it. I purchased a variety box of make my own as well as some bourbon balls to take back home for family and friends. Got my mom some dark chocolate toffees since she loves toffee. Unfortunately, the food did not join me up there. We started with the nachos, which came with what can only be described as "Velveeta cubes: deconstructed." There were literal chunks of cheese that hadn't even melted. I didn't realize I was ordering nachos with a side of arts and crafts. I ordered the chicken enchiladas, and they were... shy. Very shy. Like they'd heard of seasoning but preferred not to associate with it. I kept waiting for flavor to arrive, but it never found our table. To be fair, my husband got the carnitas and actually liked them so there is hope! And I will absolutely give credit where it's due: the service was fantastic. Our server was friendly, attentive, and the best part of the experience. That said, the prices were bold. Confident. Ambitious. For the quality we received, it just didn't add up.
