When in Kentucky you have to bring home some bourbon. Finding the right bottle that you can't get st home is a WHOLE thing. But at this liquor barn I had the best customer service. Lauren and Robert were super awesome. They were not pushy they showed me the only in KY bourbon and single barrels and small batches and let me take.my time. They even have a bar thay you can have a all taste for free of some of the liquors they sell but thw awesome thing is if you do look ot you can have an entire shot for a small cost, obviously depending on the bottle the shots are cost appropriate. Stopping at this Liquor Barn is the best tip I've gotten in 10+ visits to Louisville! I got to try so many unique bourbons for the cheapest price per pour I've seen. The Liquor Barn brand continues to grow within the Kentucky area. This location in has a tasting stand I'd call it for bourbon but a much more expansive area for beer. Service is great, my favorite tasting bar is the Liquor Barne Towne center though. You cannot beat that selection. That being said, wouldn't hesitate to go here and ask for what I need. I love Liquor Barn.  Like, SERIOUSLY love Liquor Barn.  There are a lot of options for adult beverages in greater Louisville, but after trying many, many options, Liquor Barn shines as my absolute favorite.  Each time I walk in the door it's as if the clouds part, the sun shines down on the Craft Beer taps, and a choir of angels sings to me. This location is the closest to my house, which is both good and bad.  Good because it's about a 10 minute drive.   Bad because it's ONLY a 10 minute drive.  :) First up, the aesthetics.  You're greeted by the current/seasonal beverages, usually thematically displayed with the current season.  This location is newer than the location I used to frequent, and has a very contemporary, comfortable atmosphere without feeling warehouse-y.   Eventually I always walk out with either a mix-my-own-six or a growler of something I haven't had before, and I always walk out knowing I made a good decision (if buying beer for a Friday night can be labeled a "good decision") and that I'll like what I'm taking home. (geez...this review makes me sound like a raging lush, but that's not the case at all.  I'm just very selective about what I drink on Friday nights, and Liquor Barn helps lead me down the path to better drinking.) Asked the right questions and then took care of me at all price points I was comfortable at. End result is a case of whiskey with high end talent and extremely palatable daily go tos. In sports parlance, I'm well stocked & below the salary cap. He's extremely knowledgeable & patient. Left feeling more like a friend helped me than a stranger. Can not recommend this place enough. This Liquor Barn is a bit of an alcohol wonderland. It's fun to buy or even just to peruse. I've found myself here a couple of times recently -- usually before or after a delicious meal at Shalimar. And each time I've gone home with brews that I'm excited to drink. This Liquor Barn has aisles upon aisles of spirits, wine and beer -- really, several aisles dedicated to each. I especially like the craft beer section. This location has one of the best selections I've seen of Louisville- and Kentucky-made beer. I was excited to see some Country Boy beer, in particular, that I haven't come across much elsewhere. And if you'd rather enjoy beer from a tap, this location has a 12-tap growler bar. There are also party supplies, ample mixers and light-bite-type foods. Plus, if you're lucky, you'll stop in when a brand is hosting a tasting. My husband and I enjoyed some sips of wine and bourbon during our recent visit. If you look real quick, you will miss this particular Liquor Barn which sits right next to an Office Max. The reason why I say you will miss it is because obviously their sign is red but half the size larger that LB. The parking lot and outside perimeter of the store were neat and free of debris with the exception of an opened prophylactic sitting in its wrapper... Obviously this had absolutely no effect on me purchasing my tasty adult alcoholic beverages! The interior of the store was very clean, tidy and organized. There is a section devoted to those who are entertaining and need eatables to go along with different types of beverages. There are even single to-go snacks for the individual looking for a little sustenance. The layout of LB is VERY customer friendly from the beginner to the "Bourbon Badass", beer or "Wine-O". My main mission was to pick up WoodfordReserve new Straight Malt Whiskey. I also picked up some great Goodwood products Bourbon Barrel Stout & Red Wine Barrel Saison. Lastly, I selected some Against The Grain products that included: Double India Pale Ale, Extra American Pale Ale, A Low Down Golden Pale Ale, and a Lager Beer. The checkout process was very easy and pleasant. They LB associate was very engaging, pleasant and made us feel like we were VIPs! Not our usual store but when they had a Bourbon tasting one weekend that changed! Clean store - well lit, organized. Staff that day was all very nice looking in appearance and attitude. He spent several minutes talking to representatives from several different organizations. I grabbed our regular items while he sipped and got swag. I did get a cute Jim Beam phone pop. Until it disappeared and ended up on his fridge as a magnet ?! We will def stop by this store again when close by or for the next event. read more

What you need to know about the Hurstbourne Liquor Barn is that I've found it to be the only liquor store in Louisville where you can reliably find Weller bourbon. The bourbon selection overall at this location is fairly extensive as is the beer selection. Again, one of the only shops in town where I can reliably find Rodenbach Grand Cru beer. I love Liquor Barn! I miss it so much and tell everyone about it whenever they're bragging about whatever piddly store they're going to. No, my friend, you haven't been to a real liquor store until you've been to a Liquor Barn. It's the stuff of legends- a friend who lives in FL but frequents TN even knows of the place. You can find just about anything here. And I say just about because I didn't see some Russian vodkas that I find in Brooklyn, ice wine, or Gewurtztraminer (altho they do have other white German wines). I spent so much money on this last trip, but totally worth it. One associate recommended a bourbon cream that has been flying off the shelf- must be good because the next day my friends were telling me about it. Glad we grabbed a bottle! I noticed that they no longer have the deli, but now have a tasting station, which I have mixed feelings about. Great store! Lots of variety and good prices. I especially like the locations that sell cheese and other deli type products.

Aside from the fact that they were out of mojito mix tubs, which I really had my heart set on for Cinco de Mayo/Derby Day, a fantastic selection. Aisles and aisles of goodness. I was in awe when I finally realized that the basket I was lugging around in fact had wheels and a longer handle (sometimes I'm a little slow...don't judge). We also picked up some adorable jockey hats for the party we were going to. Definitely a one-stop shop when it come to booze-buying for parties. read more

They have a wide selection but they obviously have too many items too manage efficiently because the price marked on the shelf is less than the price that rings up at the checkout counter. I have to give LB 5 stars. They are usually well stocked, ok almost always, with what I need whether it is spirits or beer. One caveat, they often have old beer, beer beyond its best taste. Be sure to watch for that. And with that said they have a large selection of craft beer. American Pale Ale to IPA. Porters, stouts, sours and fruity. Fruity. Yuk. But for those who like them LB has them. Great selection of bourbons and scotches in all price and tastes ranges. And other spirits galore. I am an IPA and whisky guy. But they appear to me to have one he'll of a wine selection. And they give a small discount to military and veterans. More than others do. All in all hard to beat. Price and good service. read more

One Stop Party Needs. There are a number of reasons why I like this place, but I will list the top five. I always stop here first before going on to any other place. 1. The Liquor Selection (of course)- aisles and aisles are organized by liquor type and then brand. 2. Beer and Wine Selection- In addition to liquor there are several aisles of wine, port, sherry, imports, and domestics. 3. Cigars- Just in case you like a strong smoke after. They have an extensive selections of cigars that are located in the humidor safe cigar room. 4. The appetizers- You can pick up cheeses, stop at the olive bar, grab crackers or bread, and arrange everything for some casual munching. 5. The Party Supplies- You will find cups, plates, themed accessories, and mixers here. Liquor Barn is the Skunky Beer capitol of Louisville. They have a huge (OLD) selection of beer and routinely unload old beer on good folks. I haven't been there in months... and stopped in today to grab a quick six. For the life of me I didn't check the date, got home and I'll be damn, they got me again. Buy beer at your OWN RISK. or...At least, triple check the dates. If you're a craft beer fan like me, My advice is to avoid the place. If you're a retailer who passes off skunky beer on a daily basis, you're not worthy. PS - the new fancy stores are OVERRATED. read more

This is the absolute worst place to get keg beer! I have been buying kegs from this location for 18 mos and I will never be back! Their customer service at the desk checkout is non-existent. They can't find my paperwork file (which they keep on every keg transaction) on my last 2 trips to this location! They DO NOT want to do the keg sales and their cashiers are rude and seem to be lost on these transactions. Horribly managed sales! I have a kegerator, but not a place I can happily purchase kegs! Just went into liquor barn intended to buy a beer my husband and I were looking for but they were out and so on the way out there was a cool souvenir glass so we thought hey we will just get that. At the register they card my husband and then he asks for my ID as well which I didn't have. And very rudely says he will not sell anything to us. In which I reply it's not even alcohol we just want this glass he smarts off and says I don't look over 40 so we can't buy anything here... when he only looks 15 himself. It's a warehouse full of liquor! Every type of alcohol you can imagine. Pretty much an isle or two dedicated to each type of alcohol. But my main interest is the craft beer selection. I've been here numerous times, but it seems lately that their beer selections seems to have gotten smaller. One isle of American craft beers, (along with a bunch of stuff stacked in the middle of the isle), and a couple end caps. Stone, Founders, Left Hand, BBC, and numerous others from around the region and around the country. Not a huge selection of each brewery. Generally 3-4 different six packs or bombers. A few singles on the other side along with some Belgians. Down from that is one isle of beers from the rest of the world. Not a great selection, but enough to find at least something interesting. Then there is a smaller selection in the cooler area. In all honesty the Fern Valley Liquor Barn seems to have a better craft and import selection. read more
