As the title would suggest great wine selection prices are similar or slightly less than liquor barn as I can remember. Decent selection of other items needed for a party. Their bourbon section is divided into bourbon's, whiskeys and ryes. Very large selection of ryes. Total Wine & More is like a trip to Epcot for me - when I go, I like to take my time. Their wine and liquor selection is HUGE. The wine is organized & displayed by country & region. I've never been to Epcot so I pretend this is what is must be like during the Epcot Wine Festival). It's always clean and organized and stocked with goodies. We went last Friday to pick up a couple bottles of wine that I cannot find anywhere else. Lucky for us, they do free tastings and samples every Friday from 3:00pm to 7:00pm (as well as every Thursday from 3-7pm & every Saturday from noon to 4:00pm). One tasting station was set up right inside the main entrance so you can't miss it. There were various holiday alcoholic creamers & "sweeter" liquors. The other tasting station was a little further back. One side of the bar had 6 different tastings: champagnes, cava, still white wines, & red wines. The other side of the bar had a whiskey & a rye to try. The staff managing the tasting stations were amazing. They were super friendly & extremely knowledgeable about each item on the sampling block. Once we were done with the tastings, we wondered over to another section to grab a bottle of sparkling wine. While in that section we ran into Lewis Harris (THE wine guy at Total Wine). He helped us choose several bottles that we would have not picked out on our own. We talked with Lewis for at least 30 minutes about all kinds of things relating to wine and his background history. He said there are 8,000 different wines in the store & he would guess that he has tried 6,000 of them. Woah! We also found out that: 1. Total Wine has wine classes! & 2. I had no idea such a wonderful world existed behind the entrance of Total Wine & More. There's even something about the building signage and logo that downplay the upscale variety of beers, wines, liquors, etc. I'm so excited to drink my way around the world! Most items are shelved; however, you'll find a refrigerated area for common beverages. We also spotted several mixers, sodas and flavored waters. I was excited to find a few 6-packs of root beer. The selection of mini bottles in unreal! Food items are limited - some chips, nuts, jerky, beer cheese. Great for a small snack but if you're wanting to provide heavier appetizers for a group gathering you'll need to visit a grocery store. When I visited last week, I was happy to find: * The bourbon I was looking for sold cheaper here than at other stores in town by about $4. I priced this out before I visited. * Everything I had found online as "in stock" was actually in stock. You'd be surprised how often this is not the case at other stores. * The bourbon, mixers and supplies I was searching for were easy to find. The store is laid out pretty intuitively with great aisle signs, and when I needed help finding one thing, it was easy to find staff to not only tell me where it was but escort me to it. I oscillate between this place and ABC Liquor. What I like about total wine is their selection. They have everything. Their customer reward program is also better than ABC. I have ordered online and picked in store. I have also shopped in store. Both are easy. It was super busy prior to "hurricane" isaias, and I needed help. I saw a guy helping another couple and I just asked him if he could call someone to help me in the bourbon aisle. Within seconds, an associated was there to help me. I didn't realize they have a separate section for "American Whiskey". I have had parties in the past where I needed a lot of beer. They have a cooler section with lots of kegs ready to go. I was surprised at the selection of beer for the kegs. You can get more customized kegs if you order in advance. I love their glassware section. I picked up some collins glasses for super cheap around christmas time. Keep your eyes open for a sale! Sign up for their emails. Total Wine is my go to spot. The variety of merchandise and the friendly staff are always a plus. The "tastings" on Friday afternoons have become a fun gathering with friends after work. Curbside service is also something I really like. It beats having to try to find the particular wines I like to get. Re-ordering is easy using the app also. When I do go in, I appreciate the clean rest rooms. Looking forward to a "sparkling wine" class this coming week. So glad they brought the classes back now after the pandemic. I will start by saying that I am a fan of any place I can walk out of with 7 bottles of wine and a very nice bottle of liquor having spent less than $90. BIG fan! And the liquor store fan-girling is only aided by the impressive selection, friendly staff, and abundance of local options! The only downside is the location. The Summit/Paddock Shops are so far out of my way....so I just need to make my visits worth it. Stocking up trips, if you will. Either way....HIGHLY recommended. read more

Since living in GA and TX I've always been a fan of TW&M. Although I was very glad to learn of its Louisville location, I hate that this is the only location in the Kentuckiana metro area. Single locations for certain store chains is a norm in this area, so it's just something to get used to. The upside is that I often drive distances for what I want (if/when necessary) and TW&M happens to be located near Costco (Norton's location) and Ulta, so I can always knock three favs in one trip. First and foremost TW&M is warehouse sized, but upon walking in it's definitely an upscale compared to other local warehouse liquor / wine stores. The selections are (wine, spirits, beer, and related accessories) vast in terms of variety and price point. They always have enough cashiers on duty because it's not unusual for long lines to quickly form. This store is very clean and well organized when needing to navigate your way around the store. Finding assistance is never too difficult and equally important, I've always found them to be very knowledgeable, patient, willing to share knowledge and make recommendations based on your preferences. I've read other reviews about tastings - I've never used this offering, but hope to one day. This store has a humidor and a nice open area at the front of the store for Online Orders pick ups, and a wine tasting area located near the middle of the store. The often have representatives visiting the store offering samples. There was one during my visit...so I sampled...and I bought! I love that they also sell accessories to enhance your shopping experience, such as a local Mac and Cheese already packaged in nice to-go containers and a wine carrier shaped like a ladies purse - how cute, creative, and convenient! Total Wine is here, and I couldn't be happier. We make yearly trips to Albuquerque, NM, and became big fans of Total Wine while out there. There are quite a few options for adult beverages in the Louisville area, but I kept finding myself wishing Total Wine was nearby. That wish has come true...FINALLY. We actually visited the first Friday they were open. Expectedly so, the place was packed. I didn't want to be in a hurry, so we took our time getting to know this location. When you walked in the door (and after a quick ID check) you were given some tickets for tastings. You could taste a selection of wine or some distilled spirits. Both tastings were staffed by personnel who were knowledgeable about what you were tasting. I opted to whiskey, my wife for wine. I did try one wine, and the lady with the French accent tried to help me find one I'd like based on my beer preference, but that fell short (I'm just not a wine drinker). The décor of Total Wine is decidedly not warehouse-y. The place is well lit, but with dark, wood panel-esque highlights. It's logically arranged, and has a pretty sizable walk-in beer cave in the back. :D They sport a spectacular array of craft beers, almost all available as singles so you can create your own meal - err - six pack. When it came time for getting help, we found help not very hard to find. Even though the location had only been open for a few days, they knew right where to send us for what we were looking for. Chances are, if you're looking for just about any type of alcohol, you'll find it at a pretty competitive price. Their selection is amazing, and you're not limited to national brands. This place is quite simply amazing! I remember the very first time I walked into a Total Wine while visiting Florida several years ago. My first reaction was WOW!!!!! I was so excited when I saw the TOTAL WINE COMING SOON sign at the Summit a couple of years ago, since I live 2 miles away. On this occasion I was on a mission to find a great bottle of Albariño. Albariño is a variety of white wine grape grown in Galicia (northwest Spain), Monção and Melgaço (northwest Portugal). It pairs exceptionally well with the seafood paella I'll be making this week. I'm pretty familiar with the layout of the store so I headed straight to the SPAIN section. I immediately spotted the Albariños, soon after a sales associate approached me and asked if I needed help. I asked if she was familiar with Albariños, boy was she ever! She reviewed just about every bottle available in great detail. I just love everything about this place! The decor and ambiance is welcoming, warm, modern, sophisticated and homey all in one! I'm big on the right ambiance whenever I visit anyplace for the first time and TOTAL WINE does it right. Combine that with a huge variety of every spirit, wine and beer you can think of and then some and course last but not least the lowest prices in the market!!!!! You can't go wrong!!!!! Mind you, I am not associated in any way shape or form with TOTAL WINE nor do I have a drinking problem, I'm just a run of the mill social drinker that enjoys an occasional scotch on the rocks and a glass of wine with dinner. This is definitely my go to place for wine, spirits, and beer! The wine section alone goes on for aisles and aisles! From dry to sweet, reds and whites, from local wineries, to different countries...you simply can find something for everyones liking. We frequent local wineries everywhere we travel and around home, and enjoy wine festivals as well. We truly enjoy Wine on the River, and have tasted many wines that we have fallen in love with. That being said, after we find these favorite wines, it is so nice to be able to shop for the wines we enjoy all in one place. They also have a huge variety of beer and spirits, so you can one stop shop. The staff is wonderful, very helpful and knowledgable. If they do not have something in stock, they will check to see if they are able to get it in. They have daily free wine and spirit tastings, M-F 2-6pm, and S-S 1-5pm. If you like their facebook page, you will also be able to follow the different classes they offer, specials, etc. One important thing we all watch for along with the quality of liquor we purchase, is the price. Total Wine & More has great prices, and from what I have experienced, lower prices than anywhere else. This helps me to be able to enjoy more of what I love! I highly recommend that if you have not had the opportunity to go in and experience Total Wine & More's selections and prices, that you definitely take the time. It's weird to me. So many people spread the word to shop local and then a shop like this comes along. A CHAIN liquor store where price and selection are great... and people go nuts for it. I did love my visit to Total Wine. After looking around for a few, I noticed that Copper & Kings was setting up for a tasting. It was about that time that one of the customers asked if they were local. I knew that I was in the wrong part of the city at that very moment. Back to Total Wine. It's a great store with lots to choose from. The bourbon prices are unbelievable! I couldn't believe some of the markdowns there! With prices like that, I could easily give this place 5 stars. A portion of that star was taken off because I doubt those prices will remain that low. I mean.. they can't possibly remain that low, right? The selection doesn't stop with bourbon. Every type of spirit is there! They have an extensive amount of beer to choose from as well. One great thing about the beer sections is that they have sections where they point out limited and special bottles. I thought that was neat. It takes the research out of it. Most of the time when you visit a liquor store and you're scanning all the beer, it can be overwhelming. You usually aren't sure what to buy if you're trying something new. As we were looking at the wine, we noticed that a tasting was coming up in a few minutes. A FREE TASTING! Enter Brad and Kathy: Of course we're going to stick around for a free tasting. On that particular day they were giving out sparkling wine samples(since it was close to New Year's I assume). We had a chance to try 5 or 6 wines. They weren't anything special but a couple of them were good. They also had an Adult S'mores drink to try. I've tried it before, but it was the last thing to try and it was almost like the bartender forgot I was there. I ended up not trying it. That particular guy was nice, but he was a low-volume talker and didn't provide much information at all on what he was pouring. Of course. Of course. What do I expect? It's Total Wine. True, but if you're going to have a tasting in your store... the person pouring should be the center of attention along with what he's pouring. I shouldn't have to block out all the oddball shoppers around me causing a ruckus. To have a square bar and only use one side of it... things could be more organized. Overall I loved Total Wine. The only reason I'm ever in that part of town is for Cabela's. Red Barn Kitchen can be added to that now. I doubt I'll make special trips to Total Wine, but I will stop in there if I'm in that part of town. Another reviewer mentioned making your trips count by being prepared to buy a lot. That's a smart way to look at it. With me, I normally don't buy many bottles at a time. I go to the store to pick-up one or two bottles so random trips to Total Wine just aren't logical in my case. read more

This is the greatest store in all of Louisville, as far as I'm concerned. They have an awesome selection, best prices in Louisville, and wonderful customer service. I come here for the beer and liquor, and there is plenty of it! You can build your own 6 pack from the extensive selection of craft beers, or buy them as singles. They even have a nice selection of cases of craft beer, which can be difficult to find. As far as the liquor they have tons of lesser known liquors that are priced cheap and of very good quality. There's reviews posted on some of them, and sales associates are always eager to show you their favorites. Someone could easily stock their bar here for less than $200 and have a very nice set up. That's almost $20 cheaper than some other places I've checked. In fact all of their bourbon is priced well below most places. Anyway I've made this my go to for all my beverage needs. I'd recommend saving yourself some time and just start with this Total Wine store. They do tastings all the time too. They even have a bar set up in the center of the store perfect for tastings. As a wine lover- this place is Heaven on Earth! As you walk in, there are rows and rows of glorious, spectacular bottles of wine from every country and every wine region in America. Directly to the right there are bottles of fancy reserve champagnes in a wine fridge and if I had a million dollars to spend they would all be mine! I really like how organized this place is. Not only are the wines categorized by country but also by region and wine type- i.e.- "South of France Rose." That made it easy to find what I was looking for although I was really just excited to look at the entire store. I was limited on time so I stayed mainly in the French section because that is my jam! The prices are great! Veuve Clicquot is my favorite champagne or wine on the planet but it is pricey. Normally it is $50-58 per bottle but Total Wine has it for $42.99. That deal in incredible. Sold! They also give a discount of 6 bottles so it is worth buying a few extra. They do wine tastings every week day from 2-6 and weekend 1-5. I can't wait to go back in when I am not in a rush! Everyone knows that Total Wine has 1. The largest selection of products (even over Liquor Barn, yes I've checked). 2. The lowest prices. They'll beat anyone in town. 3. Helpful staff and SAMPLES. But! It's very easy to get overwhelmed in such a large store. My three helpful hints are: 1. All the alcohol is organized in alphabetical order. 2. Don't fall for the store staffs recommendation for their Private Label/store brand. There job is to sell you on them, but you won't get the even close to the taste or quality of the name brand. The often even look just like the name brand (check Jack Daniel's bottle vs Total Wines version). Pay the few extra dollars for the real stuff. 3. Check the website for local events! They often have bottle engravings, visits from Master distillers (autographs) etc that are awesome for gifts, or for your personal collection. read more

This is one of the coolest stores I have ever been to. My sister lives in Louisville and discovered this place. It is kinda funny because it is in like a normal outside mall location with this giant alcohol store, haha. Picture pretty much every type of alcohol and every single brand available for purchase. Don't forget tons of mixers, bitters, tools etc. It is crazy! Tons of wine, including a wine tasting area. Tons of beer including nearly everything available to purchase as single bottles/cans if you want to try new things. Their hard liquor? Every size of each brand is available from what I can tell. We can often find alcohol that is hard to impossible to find at home. Also, there are TONS of those little mini bottles that are a good way to try new things, build out a gift or just decorate your bar with. Between bar wear and other random items thrown throughout this store, you can find lots of fun things. Would be super easy to put together a gift here. The other thing to mention? Great prices! I've been to Total Wine three times now. I've had a great experience every time. The store set-up is great, it's easy to find what you're looking for and the aisles are wide enough for you to go down with others. The people who work the tasting areas are extraordinarily friendly and offer lots of input in both the selections they're serving and other recommendations. When looking for something, they go out of their way to help you. My last visit, an employee who was on break, still stopped to help me locate a particular bottle. Prices tend to be a little better than elsewhere - but I've never paid more. I highly recommend spending a little time exploring when you go visit. read more

Located in the Louisville Paddock Shops outdoor mall, this liquor store is very similar to Liquor Barn mega liquor store. Total Wine & More is a franchise, I've shopped at the one in Atlanta. This is a new location, so they don't yet have an allocation of rare bourbons. They do have a few store picks. Surprisingly though, bourbon wasn't what brought me here. I was actually here to buy Senor Rio tequila, which is currently exclusive to Total Wine & More stores. It's good stuff, for the record. My husband discovered it while we were on vacation. He tried one of the Senor Rio cigars and sited it to be his new favorite cigar selection, so he knew that we would enjoy the tequila. I will say that the prices seem to be higher than Liquor Barns and other mega liquor stores. For example, they had a limited supply of this year's Goose Island barleywine release. It was limited to one per person and the price was nearly double than what LB had it for. I never think it's cool when a retailer marks up product just because the supply is scarce and they know that they are going to sell out. The guy that assisted us was extremely helpful and led us straight to what we were looking for, answered our questions and even followed us to the registers where he checked us out. read more

It's unusual that I would give one star... And if I could give zero I would. I was in here this morning about half an hour after opening with the intent of stocking up on several cases of champagne, St. Germain as well as buying some bourbon as gifts before I left Kentucky. I spent about 20 minutes walking through the location trying to find several items... I was very obviously giving the look of "I need assistance" -about 10 employees walked past me without acknowledging me recognizing that I need help, etc. I finally went up front and asked one of the customer service team members to help me locate something. She was rude and not at all helpful. While this was happening her two managers observed the entire interaction. No attempt was made to help. THIS PLACE IS MY EVERYTHING. Went here to do some booze shopping for my Halloween party (and soon, for my Christmas party). With my free tote coupon in hand, I was ready to tackle this place! I knew it might be busy, due to being in the Paddock Shop area, but I was prepared. Unfortunately, I had no idea what I was walking into! This place was just AMAZING. Everything is so organized and labeled perfectly and they just have a HUGE variety of things! I was stunned and in awe! They have everything you can think of, from international drinks (so cool to see different kinds of Sake and legit Irish whisky!), local brews (always a fan of the local stuff!) and EVERY sort of wine you can think of! The aisles are just never-ending! Everything is very clean and the labels for each aisle are super helpful, and the staff there are also super helpful as well! :D Also, they do offer beer and wine tasting as well!
