We went to this doctor for reunification therapy, and her practices were unexpectedly concerning. In fact, after my daughter later met with a different therapist, that therapist recommended I contact the state to file a complaint. The experience felt mentally abusive to my children.
Her solution to every issue seemed to be "more therapy," and it often felt as though the focus was on generating additional income rather than helping our family. For example, we asked a simple yes-or-no question about whether she had provided specific direction to one parent. Instead of answering, she sent a lengthy, multi-paragraph email promoting herself as the ongoing family therapist and asking questions about how continued services would be paid for. The actual question went completely unanswered. This was just one of many instances that made it seem she was primarily motivated by money.
She also set expectations with a 9 year old but did not follow through, essentially lying to a child. This created such a distrust that all three of my children now have a difficult time trusting therapists.
Her documentation is, in some cases, a misrepresentation of a larger situation. She has at times, (unsolicited) offered to update her documentation to be holistically inclusive of all facts, but fails to deliver after repeated reminders.
She has an established path, and numerous therapists have explained that she should have deviated once it was not working. I failed to see her deviate, only double down on a non-winning formula that, of course, required more therapy.
