For my elopement not only was she able to recommend a wonderful officiant and florist- and picked up the flowers the morning of! she really went above and beyond for her sense of adventure. She was with us the entire action-packed day starting with a walk in the redwoods, a picknick at a winery and even went out on a kayak with us as we free-dove the kelp and explored some other features of the coast. What a great sport! I doubt many photographers would do that, on top of having great skills. I can't thank her enough for helping us our special day, and for capturing it all so well. Her communication throughout the whole process was wonderful. It was my parent's 49th wedding anniversary while we were there. I wanted all of us to have some beautiful images at our favorite place with our favorite people. Joyce really nailed it. The weather was awful!! Foggy, cold, and windy, but she was very accommodating and able to pick the best time to create the images I wanted. We were able to go to different locations and she was great about knowing which areas would make amazing pictures. They were spots I would never have thought to choose, but they are some of my favorites! We got all the posed photos that I requested and then some. We also got many beautiful pictures that were more natural and showed some of our silliness. It was really helpful when she would instruct us on how we were standing, how to position our arms, have us turn our faces so the light was correct, etc.. All and all it was a fantastic experience creating an ocean family photo session. All of us got everything we wanted. Some of the candid type photos resonate with certain people. The pictures of my dad kissing my mom on the cheek like he always does are just classic. I got the posed picture of all 10 of us on the beach that was my inspiration for the whole thing. We got a picture for one of the little girls with her parents that are not a couple. I think having that will be priceless to her.

When we discovered Mendocino, we knew its where we wanted to have our elopement. The magic of the…read moreredwoods, the oceanside cliffs, and the beaches all lured us in, but we had no idea where to start. As we did research, we found Joyce. She was easy to communicate with, highly knowledgable of the area and had all the recommendations we could ask for to help us in choosing all sorts of things: officiants, florists, dining, things to do, etc. She even chatted with me when I was choosing my gown about how it may look in the photos depending on which one I went with. Ultimately, we shared photos of what we loved in Joyce's work, and handed her full creative freedom to lead us where felt right. She was careful to have us as we naturally were, she didn't pose us one time (which made me nervous during the shoot!). In the end, we couldn't be more grateful for the vision she brought to life. Our wedding day was captured so gorgeously; every shot is a love letter to our day -- luminous, timeless, majestic.
