Love that I can talk with them, tell them what I am looking for, my price point, finding out what wine you have under the radar, or highly rated, or a new great wine you just got in, something you rarely get in... I see an add for Lisa's Liquor Barn on TV, so I go to the website to check out the sales. Holidays are here and friends and relatives like to drink medium priced wines and Prosecco. Lisa's has a sale on Kim Crawford Prosecco and Pinot Noir each $16.99. Now, Century (best liquor store in Monroe county) is less than 2 mi. away, but I decide to drive 10 mi. to Lisa's for (hopefully) the savings. I plan to buy several cases. Not finding what I'm looking for, Leann asks if she can help me. I tell her I'm looking for the Kim Crawford Prosecco. She proceeds to give me a 5 minute lesson on how Prosecco is a product of Prosecco, Italy only... and Kim Crawford is an Australian vineyard. I said many vineyards make Prosecco and I get the blank... Anyway, I ask where the Pinot Noir is located. She tells me "we don't have the Pinot". I told her both were on the website. So, she pulls out her phone and I assume she went to the wrong page because it popped up with no Prosecco or Pinot Noir. I got made to feel like I'm an old boob. I guess the worst thing is, I go past the best liquor store in upstate to go to Lisa's where I would have spent $600-$800 in 20 minutes.... to find out I got "bait and switched". I went home and DL'ed the ads, went back and showed her and you could just see her head explode as she ran to the office to check the website. I left. Good job Leann! Not impressed with their customer service at all. I had a problem with a gift card I was given, I guess it was too old and not in their system any more....I'm still trying to figure out how that is my problem, but ok. Anyways, the gift card is not going through, a manager is called up and can't figure it out either and she gets very dismissive and says $10 is the most I can do. Weird, because I wasn't aware we were bargaining over the price of the gift card. I'm buying a literal case of wine and it's a $20 gift card, it's not like it's even covering most of that case. I'm a willing and paying customer who is buying a case of wine for over $100 and I would have paid for the whole case regardless of the gift card or not. Maybe explain it nicely and call it a day...the $10 wasn't worth the hassle of feeling like I'm being looked down upon. What I don't appreciate is being made to feel that I'm being annoying and trying to pull a fast one or something. I received a gift card as a gift. End of story. I hadn't been here before. I was going this way, so I looked at their website. Their store is actually open for you to go in! However, I got a welcome email for 10% off that you needed to use online, so I did that. You can browse pretty easily on their site. When I arrived to pick it up, it's next to Wegmans, so the parking lot was really busy. I found a spot in the first row, so I parked there and called. They needed my order number, which surprised me. Nothing I've ordered for pick up during this COVID situation has actually needed my order number, so I needed to find that. I also told her I was in the first spot right outside the door, but that wasn't good enough. She told me to pull up front. Well, the parking lot was really busy, and it wasn't easy for me to back up and cross the street to get over there. By the time I got over there, the guy had been waiting for me. It would have been easier to walk to the spot I was in. They should clarify in their pick up email that they send, and tell you that you need your order number and where to park. Now that I know, I may do that again, or I'd probably just go inside since they're actually open to browse. read more

Today I placed an order for in store pickup for the new Sir Davis whisky from Moet Hennessey in collaboration with Beyonce Knowles Carter. I was impressed the store had the bottle available since it launched on the 4th, so I canceled my online order to buy it at Lisa's and support local. I wasn't greeted by any of the staff huddled in the front of the store chatting, and the cashier I approached turned around, so I went to the next lane. The cashier there asked for my order number and she went over the PA to have it brought over. When a gentleman brought over the bottle, he went past me and said to the cashier "like I was saying earlier, look what he bought" as he pulled out the bottle and gestured to me. She turned to me and said "oh he fell for it".. so I just stood there uncomfortably. Then the cashier said "well good luck with that" and I awkwardly left. I guess I'm confused since this bottle is around $100 and has already won several awards prior to it's release.. I can't help but assume the staff has an issue with Beyonce..? Regardless of their weirdness, I'm still a customer and the shopping experience was pitiful. Obviously, I will not be returning. One star to Lisa's buyer for supporting Black women in the whisky industry and -4 stars to the close-minded staff that tried to make me feel stupid for buying it. read more

Easily my favorite Liquor Store in Monroe County. Also doesn't hurt that I live scary close to it. They carry a wide variety of wines from all around the world at competitive prices. Their website allows you to browse the stock which convenient so that you can check for your favorites. MOST of the staff is very friendly and VERY helpful. There is only one female staff member that I never really have anything nice to say about contributing to her lack of professionalism. But something tells me that she mayyy be the store manager or something. Not like she ever asked us if we needed help or introduced herself. Now, the rest of the staff completely makes you forget she even exists! Everyone in there is so nice and knowledgeable. They really do make you feel welcome and can make superb wine suggestions. This is another thing I adore about Lisa's Liquor Barn. They often have "Taste Before You Buy" events. My favorite events are the all weekend events when the ENTIRE store is a tasting adventure. My favorite rep is Mauritzio (sp?). His table always features the best international wines. Specially from Italy and South America, NOMNOMNOM!!! There are a few staff members that I love but I am not able to remember their names. One is a middle aged small gentleman that will walk you through making the best decision when selecting a wine wether for a party or personal pleasure. I've loved ALL his recommendations. He has a slight accent that I am not cultured enough to place. But you can't miss him. There isn't a patron he does not acknowledge and he is always hard at work. If you see this guy and are shopping at your leisure, take him up on his offer to assist. There is a lot to learn from him. Another employee that is very knowledgeable is a young man with glasses. I want to say that his name is Dave...but I can't say for sure. He has made good suggestions of wines and spirits. There are a few Proseccos that I frequently buy thanks to him. SRSLY! Put down that red cat and california white zin right now! Jack Daniel's was on site for their Christmas's tastings and were offering tastings and inscribed bottles. I got their Gentleman's collector boxed bottle for $30 inscribed free in the front and back of the bottle. It was a very well received gift. Oddly enough it is still sealed and unopened... Follow them on Facebook and sign up for their email notifications of events...and their club card. You will walk out with quite a few bottles to add to your stock...or drink that night :) read more

Ah Penfield I'm not always up here but when I am I do stop into this cavernous wine/liquor store. From the tv ad's you think this might be a crap liquor store pushing crappy wines.. oh dear reader no they have some fabulous stuff in this place.... They have a lot of wines from the Finger Lakes Region, along with Old World Wines (France, Spain, Germany) and New World Wines like Chile, the USA and the like. They have things from South Africa and Australia:New Zealand. Let's just say wine wise they have just about everything. Spirits wise they have a lot and if you need a small, tiny bottle for the baking or cooking recipe yes they got it. If your not sure about stuff the staff is knowledgeable and will help you out any way they can. Also they do tastings as well and get on the customers rewards program it's worth it. So don't think this place from the ad's is about that crappy wine oh hella no.. they got the goods. Plenty of parking and if you need to buy yourself some food for dinner or you just bought some stuff at the Wegmans next door for dinner roll on over to get some wine to go with it. The staff there is very friendly and knowledgeable of all of their products. Always a staff member walking around the store willing to help you find what you are looking for and even if you need help bringing what you bought to your car they help. I don't buy alcohol often but when I do, I always come here. The selection is massive and they have everything. Since the selection is so large I often ask staff to help me out and they are always fantastic at showing me what I want or helping me figure out what exactly I want in the first place. There are always great sales and mail in rebates. In the end a bottle of wine can cost $2.00. Who doesn't love to save money? Despite the Saturday 'wine swilling' events, and despite their rather spotty and odd collection of (mostly pedestrian) wines, I will have to admit that they have a decent selection of whiskeys, especially in the bourbons and scotches. And, the stuff you would want, there are often some fairly decent deals. I end up here more often than I like to admit, due to the fact that my elderly father lives nearby, but I doubt I'd make a long trek to this place, unless I lived in deepest Wayne county. OTOH, they continue to offer only those pathetically flimsy plastic cart/baskets to move your purchases around inside the store. Didn't anybody ever consider that booze bottles are HEAVY? Yeah, you CAN pull them around like a kid's wagon (and stoop over to load and unload), but when the number of people shopping gets large, you can't pull the stupid things around without hitting other people. Ferchrissakes, get some small METAL carts! They even have several single-malts from Islay, some of them quite affordable. So, all in all, I'll give them a 4 this time, to round out to closer to the 3.5 that they deserve. read more

I was about to give this place a bad review until I realized NY law states that you can't have liquor and beer in the same place and that's why Wegman's only stocks beer and Lisa's carries everything else. The sheer size of Lisa's liquor Barn is staggering and when I walked in the front door my mouth basically dropped. I moved here from Las Vegas and Lee's Discount Liquor is king there but Lisa's is just as impressive if not more so. The wine selection is plentiful including the hard to find Dreaming Tree collection(Yes, I'm a Dave Matthews Band fan, leave me alone). Equally impressive is their wide array of liquors including scotch, bourbon, vodka, etc. You will be hard pressed to find a liquor store with a better range of brands. All in all this is the place to come when you have a wine and spirits issue you need to handle. Seriously, booze hounds and casual drinkers alike will love Lisa's Liquor Barn. read more

Don't go here if you don't have a NY state license. Don't know about you, but I dont travel with more than 1 ID when I come back home to visit family. ALSO my name is in their system from when I did live here. They still would not sell to me without 2 forms of ID. Myself and sister look young. The sales people were giving us the stink eye and following us around the store as if we were not suppose to be there. Very Rude customer service. I live in Penfield so Lisa's is always a convenient option and they have a decent selection of wine and spirits. Their prices are competitive and their floor staff is always willing to help you with a recommendation. The reason for the 3 star rating is their inconsistent front end service. I often have the misfortune of going to a brunette cashier who has a horrible demeanor and spends more time talking to other cashiers or on her phone than helping customers. Liquor stores are a dime a dozen and I'm definitely considering service when choosing where to shop. read more

Amazing store! They recently opened up their new location right next to Wegmans (where Chase Pitkin used to be). It is absolutely gorgeous. Definitely one of the higher end liquor/wine stores. I love this place. I came here on a day they were doing free wine samples and boy was it overwhelming. They have a great selection on regional and local wines, as well as the little personal liquor bottles. I collect the little bottles, they are so cute. Overall, a great place to grab wine and liquor. The service is good but they don't take out of state licenses which is a problem since I live out of state. I come in when I am in town, so that is very inconvenient. I ordered from them online because they listed a champagne that was discontinued as being in stock. I took a chance hoping maybe they just had a few left. It turned out that the image and title were wrong and it was the version that replaced the one I wanted. They said they canceled the order and never charged my card. Weeks later I check my statement and I see a charge for the champagne I never received, but no refund. I call Lisa's and no one can help me until the next day. I then receive a message on my phone the next day telling me that they cancelled it and never charged my card. I call my credit card company, and they DID charge my card, so now the credit card company is disputing the charge that Lisa's had no record of. They did call me back after I let them know I was disputing the charge, and yes I admit I was frustrated and short, but the woman on the phone was also rude, and in the conversion made the comment "yeah you can't trust us from California"... WOW well that has nothing to do with it. Charging hundreds of dollars to someones card then saying you have no record of it is where the lack of trust comes from. WAY too much hassle for a mislabeled product. This was my first and last time dealing with them. I'd assume in store dealing with them is just fine, but online is a giant headache. read more

Great selection, but that's not the best part... great prices, but still not the best part. Customer service? THE BEST PART! Here's an example... we ordered a gift certificate online. Instead of a machine generated reply, we got a personal email asking if there was any message they could add! The gift card was mailed the same day and received two days later, with the personal message.. above and beyond. We live out of town and only go to Lisa's when visiting family, but if we lived anywhere near Penfield... that would be the go-to place.
