I had gone there many years ago and had many of the same complaints however about a year ago I retried and was pleasantly surprised by changes that were made. I now go every few weeks for different craft beers and other "necessities" and always find it to be very well stocked, clean, and the staff extremely friendly and helpful. The best part about Total Discount - they let you do mix-six packs! From what I have found, they are one of the remaining stores in the area that allow this. I highly recommend them for anything you may need liquor wise and if you are into different craft beers, this is hands down the only place to go in Carroll County. Side note - no one has ever asked or tried to make a copy of my license there. My feeling of this story is that the cashier probably wanted to SCAN the barcode on the back of the ID. That's not for creating a database as the store is strictly prohibited from doing that by law unless the customer gives consent. Maryland DOES HIGHLY RECOMMEND that each store scan all IDs with liquor sales to ensure the ID isn't fake. Many stores have a policy to do this, due to State and Local pressure. Certainly you can't hold the store accountable for this.

They didn't have the specific brand I was looking for, but showed me where the rum was located after looking it up in their system. They have several check out lines and I was assisted right away. I'm not sure what bottles usually cost so I can't speak to cost-effectiveness, but I did notice there is a frequent buyers program and sales were posted throughout the store.

But last week that same woman thought it was ok to sell customers damaged soda cans. Her indignation about it was the killer, though. After digging through the line of Cokes in the refrigerator, I found one that wasn't damaged (all the other tops were bulged outward at the opening) and brought it to the counter to purchase. While paying, I kindly mentioned that the other cans were damaged. The woman VERY rudely said, "We received them that way, they're fine!" Sheesh... Guessing I wasn't the first to bring it to her attention. Sorry lady, but no one is paying too much for a can of coke to get one they will potentially cut their mouth on. Additionally, you're just too rude for me to choose to give my money to any longer. So all those nice, expensive bottles of wine I've bought there throughout the past three years is over. Also, FYI: when you receive damaged merchandise in your order, you either don't accept it or offer it at a discount to your customers.

We had plans on having outdoor lunch at Noras...this was before it snowed....so we wrote down the list of ingredients and planned on stopping at this liquor store for the first time to buy them. But I'm an old fart and I left the list at home. All we could remember was that the drink contained rum, and that the video had two funny guys behind a bar. I still had fun looking at the store's great selection, but we left defeated after not being able to remember the ingredients. Well: while we were eating, the store employee popped his head out and recommended that we stop in again after finishing our meal. When we did, he pulled up a video on his phone and asked us if it was the one we had scene: it was! AND He had already pulled all of the ingredients for us! This is exactly why I love cozy, community based businesses: you're not just another mindless customer. This is our new liquor store. It's not a huge store, but their selection is incredible. I discovered the cute Cork & Bottle and also got a bottle of wine and browsed around. The tiny slice of a shop has outdoor tables and serves light fare from neighboring Baldwin's Station. We bought a bottle of wine, and a handmade birthday card (which the sales associate informed me was unique and one of a kind and provided a stable income for women who were formerly sex trafficked) for $ 19.42 I will definitely be back to check out more of their wine and gifts and perhaps sit outside and enjoy some food from Baldwin's. I haven't been to Baldwin's in ages but always enjoyed the food and experience. Very glad that Main Street is thriving and doing well. For a Saturday afternoon there were many shoppers and people out and about.
