Charlotte, who runs the hotel was outgoing, nice, informative, and a pleasure during our stay. Check-in was super easy and getting to the hotel was quick from Sintra Train Station. It was a short, perhaps 4 Euro ride. The hotel offers stunning views from many windows. Our room had a view of the Castle of the Moors, Pena Palace, and Quinta de Regaleira. I mean I was blown away. The rooms are gorgeous and we had the opportunity to stay in a large king bed bedroom that was spacious and super clean. The bed was super comfortable as was every other aspect of the hotel. There are other rooms to hang out in downstairs where we tried to catch a little bit of the World Cup. You can order drinks as well, but we just had a little introductory Port as we arrived. The breakfast is very tasty and well worth the cost. We found cheaper in town, but it was not nearly as good or filling. The fresh squeezed orange juice is wonderful and the French press coffee was heaven. Wifi worked well all through our stay and the water was hot. The shower was strong and the bathroom was clean. The hotel didn't need AC as all you need to do is open the windows and the fresh mountain air comes in and cools you down. The windows and high ceilings in our room were one of my favorite aspects of the hotel. I felt like royalty during my stay. We checked out a little early our last day and the hotel staff kept our luggage for us while we did some last day exploring. The staff is super friendly and they take care to make you feel welcome. Sintra was one of the highlights of our honeymoon and Casa Miradouro played a huge part in it. We felt wonderful every time we came back from exploring and could enjoy our down time. When I come back to Sintra I am going to stay here again as you should when you first visit. This is not a place to stay, but THE place to stay. Thanks again, Charlotte.

Only one floor up, and as with most B &B's, no elevator- you're hauling your luggage up on your own. Owner was quite nice. Downside: a bit of a walk (uphill) to get back to civilization and the bed was not great- like a couch bed mattress without the permanent wave of being tucked away most of the time. Shower was petite but good. Next door to an abandoned house that could be awesome. Limited parking.

We booked the small group walking tour on our first morning in Lisbon so that we could get a better understanding of the city and the culture and the history. We were incredibly impressed by Daniel Ribeiro who was our tour guide. His knowledge was really impressive and we learned so much on our three hour plus tour. He took his time and seemed to really enjoy showing us all the city. And best of all, he gave us some fantastic recommendations that we used a lot for the rest of our trip. Next we wanted to explore Sintra and get out of the city for a day. So we also signed up for the day trip to Sintra and Cascais. This was a great way to get to see Sintra and Cascais with an additional stop to see the most western part of Europe. The day itself was a little cloudy but it was April in Portugal. The palace was still incredible and what made it so great was our guide Andres. Unlike more tours where they drop you off and say meet you back in an h our, Andres actually acts as your tour guide through the palace and his knowledge was just so helpful in making us understand the history of it all. It was very appreciated. At the meeting place at the start of the day, there were so many people going on this tour, but we were split up into much smaller groups of like 6 people and each assigned a tour guide. It was all very well organized.

WOW! What a wonderful tour we had from Lisbon to Porto! We had thought the tour group would be…read moresmall - but when Van GO says "private," they mean it! It was just us for the day! The drive was long, but Susanna filled every minute with information and insights about the countryside and its history. Susanna must have a computer for a brain to hold all the information she relays - but a computer could never be as flexible as she was as she tailored her information to our questions. LOVED seeing not only typical sites, but also medieval streets and structures. We had an amazing lunch, and discovered my new favorite food: Francesinha - the Portuguese sandwich that is like a croque monsieur, with slightly different meats, served in a tasty sauce! Besides walking around Porto, we took a boat tour of the river, followed by a dandy learning experience about port wine, the grapes used, how it is made, and ending with a tasting! During the ride back to Lisbon, we felt we were having a conversation with friends - and got to see cork trees and pictures of how cork is harvested. Van GO Tours has great customer service - from the reservation process to satisfying our expectations.

The dishes were delicious, unique and representative of various diasporic nationalities and cultures. If you want to experience Portugal through the lens of the diaspora, this is absolutely the way to go. Worth every penny and more. I recommend doing this early in your trip to tap into Kam's fountain of local knowledge. For me, it was the perfect culmination of my first visit to Lisbon.
