We knew that the photos of our wedding would be the most lasting representations of the day, and so we put a lot of thought and care into how we wanted Julia to capture us, our family, and our friends. Looking through her website, we were almost instantly drawn to her photojournalistic style, meaning she prefers to capture events as they happen as opposed to elaborately staged photos. What this also means is that she's quick to capture a spontaneous moment, like when my friends decided to lift me up on their shoulders and sing For He's a Jolly Good Fellow. Seeing those spontaneously captured moments in our photo album today makes us so happy. One thing we loved about Julia is how she worked. She took the time to meet with us and just get a feel for our personalities. A few months before our wedding, she took beautiful engagement photos of us at Weymouth Furnace, with the late-afternoon sun coming through the trees, as an exercise in learning what our genuine smiles looked like so she knew how to capture pure moments of happiness on our wedding day. Another reason we went with Julia was her comprehensive package deals. We got so much more than just photos from her; with the package we bought, we got a beautiful photo board album for us, smaller ones for our parents, pocket-sized brag books for our aunts, two large foam board blow ups, prints of all of our proofs, the engagement session, and, most importantly, all of our photos on a memory stick. When putting together our photo album, Julia first presented us with a layout of her favorite photos. She was happy to spend time with us to customize the album to our liking, giving us total editorial control over the final result. Considering that we know people who, years and years after their wedding, still have not put together wedding albums for themselves, we're so relieved to have have a completed album before our first anniversary. We met with a few photographers in the area, but as soon as we sat down with Julia, we were both done. We knew right away. Her personality, her sense of humor, and most of all, her WORK, was simply the right combination. Instead of trying to "set up" every shot, Julia goes with the action, and seamlessly integrates into it. You never really notice she's right in the middle, capturing everything........she just blends in, as one of your guests, and has the feel and the eye to catch the right moment. Even on the "posed" shots.....the family pictures that we all take.......Julia, sets up a shot, but doesn't quit after the picture is taken......she keeps going. One of our favorite shots from our wedding is of my brothers and sister gathered around me.......when Julia told them to move in like they were kissing me, they moved in, and she captured that shot, but then they all cracked up laughing at how silly it looked, and Julia captured THAT........the NATURAL shot.
