They ended up helping me get a pair of shoes for pick up at the Gastown location, they truly went out of their way. And the shoes were on sale, so they were a great deal! They looked like a pair of shoes the Stray Cats band would wear. I would later on end up buying a pair of patent leather shoes. Not exactly what I was looking for but they were patent leather, which is what I really wanted. However they were super pointy at the front - the kind of shoes one would only wear in the Safety Dance video by the group - Men Without Hats. https://youtu.be/AjPau5QYtYs Remember that weird acid mind trip video!? Gosh the 80s had so many oddly weird songs that became hits & we grooved to them! Looking back now - it's actually quite cringey & I won't admit to which songs I liked ... I'll never tell! https://youtu.be/nTizYn3-QN0 However, these dudes put out some fabulous songs & videos & I have to admit, I ended up getting into the blazer style because of them! Anyway, I never wore those ridiculously pointed shoes outside at all - too unpractical & I would have been tripping over myself on every block cause the tip would have been catching every rise in the pavement. After being heavily embarrassed (he made me joke of the year) by a nephew who was rummaging threw my closet years ago & found my 'pointy shoes,' I finally said - I gotta get rid of them. I actually took them to the downtown location, handed them to a sales person & said - they are still new, unworn & I have zero desire for them & then left. I didn't ask for any refund or credit I just wanted them gone like a bad rash! I had contemplated actually handing them over to the founder John Fluevog, who I'd occasionally see downtown. He's hard not to miss - tall & fashionable. Fluevog shoes are occasional - parties, tea party, weddings, costume party, or just plain wanting to stand out - cool like dat - while you're out & about. Keep in mind that these shoes can hurt the feet depending on how long you have them on for. We're not talking Nike Air Max quality but rather firm & solid type wear - so keep that in mind if your feet tend to be on the sensitive side. I mean it's like being on the Strip in Vegas - one is just not going to walk the whole Strip wearing red bottoms ... right!?! Fluevog shoes are classic fashionable wear - so if you're wanting to stand out & make a scene - get here & get stylin'!

I did not have high hopes as the brands they carried are similar to every other store I have been to. When I entered the store there were more sales reps than shoppers in the store and they were very welcoming without being pushy. The young woman that assisted me was the most considerate of reps and she knew her shoes. She measured my feet, asked a bunch of question, listened to my answers and said I'll go get some for you to try on. It was an interesting experience. She actually knew that shoes don't all fit the same from one supplier to the next and she knew that it might take several trips to the back for more shoes before she satisfied my slightly odd requirements. She just kept on helping me until we found the perfect shoes. Thanks to Emma who was so patient and knowledgeable. This place is awesome and the staff are all terrific. Give them a try!!

We went back to the store to explain the situation. The supervisor who helped us was very kind, professional, and understanding. She handled the situation perfectly and exchanged the slippers for us without any problems. I was really impressed with the way they treated us. Their customer service was excellent, and it made us feel valued as customers. Experiences like this make a big difference, and it definitely encourages me to continue shopping at Brown's Shoes. He knows his shoe stuff, including the construction of the shoes, whether or not they're coming back in a different style or color, if they're going to be discontinued, how well made is the sole, pricing of other comparable shoes, etc. There are some negative reviews here, but I don't believe they are representative of the overall experience provided by the staff Amin and Ritchie. See the many reviews on Google (4.6 stars) and you'll get a better sense of what it's like in the store. For a small locally owned store, it has got an impressive selection of quality comfortable shoes, and also some more youthful shoes that are very comfortable. In terms of ambience, it has probably not been renovated for years, but I don't mind - it's got good shoes, good staff, and reasonable prices. Glad to have it in the neighborhood and I hope it never gets replaced by a chain store!
