We were last here over 2 years ago and had a great experience so decided to make the trek again to get more pairs of shoes. We were immediately greeted by Phil and were taken care of from step one to end step. He took the time to listen to our wants and balanced it with our needs. The customer service here is top notch in normal times and even now during Covid. I was only planning to get one pair of shoes but ended up walking out with two pairs. My sister bought one pair of shoes but got up sold to also buy two pairs of additional insoles. The employees here are the best and make a stressful shopping situation an easy experience. Highly recommend everyone going here (not just Ladies!) and will continue to making the trek here.

While I don't disagree, I definitely felt talked down to and that my opinion on my own feet and own experience with running shoes was discounted. This running store is semi-hidden in plain sight on the main commercial street running through…read moreKerrisdale (the storefront is recessed from the road), but despite its small size, it sure packs a punch! The merchandise is top-of-the-line brands, from shoes to apparel to accessories. There were some brands I had never even heard of here (although my kid said she knew of these lines. I'm thinking specifically of the ON brand of shoes from Switzerland, but there were other brands as well). Super cool running shoes, some futuristic, all state-of-the-art. And lots of name brands I'm familiar with, too. So the product lines offered here run the gamut from mainstream to elite. The price ranges are likewise broad, depending of what you are looking for. (Note: I did see some cool apparel on a sale rack, and these prices were slashed, so I wonder if their running shoes also go on sale at times). What made this store stand out is the expertise of the employees here. They are all serious runners who know their stuff. I appreciate how they won't try to sell you on something that isn't right for you (regardless how much the item might cost). For someone like me (i.e., totally NOT a serious runner! Probably the antithesis of a serious runner. Someone who just aspires to stay upright when crossing any race's finishing line. lol!), I rely on this type of expertise to steer me in the right direction, as there are SO many products out there, I don't know the first thing about what is available in any given year and what would work best for me.

My first pair of John Fluevog Shoes, was a pair of high suede black shoes with silver buckles…read more I looked cool & people loved them - got lots of compliments. This was in the early 90s. They looked like a pair of shoes the Stray Cats band would wear. I would later on end up buying a pair of patent leather shoes. Not exactly what I was looking for but they were patent leather, which is what I really wanted. However they were super pointy at the front - the kind of shoes one would only wear in the Safety Dance video by the group - Men Without Hats. https://youtu.be/AjPau5QYtYs Remember that weird acid mind trip video!? Gosh the 80s had so many oddly weird songs that became hits & we grooved to them! Looking back now - it's actually quite cringey & I won't admit to which songs I liked ... I'll never tell! https://youtu.be/nTizYn3-QN0 However, these dudes put out some fabulous songs & videos & I have to admit, I ended up getting into the blazer style because of them! Anyway, I never wore those ridiculously pointed shoes outside at all - too unpractical & I would have been tripping over myself on every block cause the tip would have been catching every rise in the pavement. After being heavily embarrassed (he made me joke of the year) by a nephew who was rummaging threw my closet years ago & found my 'pointy shoes,' I finally said - I gotta get rid of them. I actually took them to the downtown location, handed them to a sales person & said - they are still new, unworn & I have zero desire for them & then left. I didn't ask for any refund or credit I just wanted them gone like a bad rash! I had contemplated actually handing them over to the founder John Fluevog, who I'd occasionally see downtown. He's hard not to miss - tall & fashionable. Fluevog shoes are occasional - parties, tea party, weddings, costume party, or just plain wanting to stand out - cool like dat - while you're out & about. Keep in mind that these shoes can hurt the feet depending on how long you have them on for. We're not talking Nike Air Max quality but rather firm & solid type wear - so keep that in mind if your feet tend to be on the sensitive side. I mean it's like being on the Strip in Vegas - one is just not going to walk the whole Strip wearing red bottoms ... right!?! Fluevog shoes are classic fashionable wear - so if you're wanting to stand out & make a scene - get here & get stylin'!
