Have used LCSH for my kids for years from infant through preK. I have had only good experiences and great things to say. The infant and toddler room was safe, teachers communicate well, and are caring. The preschool room (2-3years) was also welcoming, caring teachers, and safe. They take the kids to activities like walks, local parks, and keep them safe. The best experience has been pre-K; They are really a comprehensive Pre K program, with 2 teachers / up to 20 kids, and incorporate reading, writing, science, math, field trips, park, library, swimming.. I have toured other pre-K's including expensive private preK's in newton. None of them were up to par with LCSH. LCSH is both quite affordable for its excellent location, and comprehensive. Diverse students are a plus. The other pre-K's including much more expensive private places like Bright Horizon's do not do field trips, swimming, theatre, yoga etc like LCSH incorporates....so, having toured a bunch of other pre-K I love LCSH the most.. Ms Sandra is the contact / local director and she is pretty busy I am sure responsive when needed. The teachers in Pre K have been also very responsive by the app every day, sharing photos, responding to your questions, etc. And accommodating for example I wanted privacy for bathroom for the kids/ dietary restrictions like gelatin etc they were always aware and made sure to follow the preferences. 10/10 recommend. read more

Our son has been at Little Corner Schoolhouse (Too location) for almost a year now. He started in the toddler room and has now moved up to he preschool room. He loves it there and therefore we love it there. The teachers do a great job updating the parent communication app (Brightwheel) and I love getting anywhere from 3-10 photos of him doing fun things throughout the day. A brief update of what they did for the day is also posted in the app. Both toddler and preschool teachers send out a monthly curriculum of the theme for the month and what the kids are learning. This is great because then we can reinforce the same themes at home. They mix it up with activities including periodic yoga and children's musicians. If I were to have any more "wants" it would be to go outside more. They do go on walks and to the playground almost daily, depending on weather. I'm all about outdoor time so I would have them out in a drizzle and even when it's cold -- but, this isn't an outdoor school, and they do spend a good amount of time outside. Other big plusses in my book are low teacher turnover and hours (6:30am-6:30pm). We usually do ~8:30am-6pm but it's nice that it's open earlier for those days when I have an early appointment or it's an exceptionally early wake up. It's a welcoming environment and I'm glad my son is happy to run in to play every day. read more

Staff Sandra and Eli was terrible, Sandra was giving me hope for almost 3 months and the whole process was unclear and not responding. Eli who work as school admission assistant was super rude and asked to find somewhere else when I was upset with their unclear attitude.now I waited for almost 3months because of Sandra told us we could start at March, but she keeps fools me saying she will send enrollment applications to my emails. Finding a place to care and educate your young child is a daunting task. Who are the teachers? What is their training? Are they knowledgeable about allergies? Are the current children happy? Do they seem well cared for? How is the teacher to child ratio? What is a typical day like? Are teachers / staff responsive to you and your family? Do the children actually learn something? What is the curriculum like? WILL MY CHILDREN BE SAFE?? And so on and so forth. Our son (3.5) has been here now for almost 5 months. We came from a lovely home daycare but moved him here as we prepared to move to Brookline (so that he adjusted to a new school before a new home. He had been at his daycare since he was 7 months old! It was also a good time to switch him to a more structured curriculum) Some reviews on here first had me worried but once we met his teachers , we completely felt confident in this school. Here's a 5 month review: Community: Great child, parents, teachers and staff. We felt welcomed and part of the family immediately. Classmates invite everyone to their birthday parties. You get to know parents at drop off and pick up. YOU ARE ALWAYS GREETED CHEERFULLY! They know and love all the kids! Teachers: Ellen and Sarah are amazing (preschool age). They are dedicated to each child. Every child gets the attention and help they need. Each child is loved and cared for. Our son immediately took to them. They also give extremely helpful feedback if they notice your child is behind on a skill so you can work with them at home. It's been an adjustment for our son to get used to structure. They don't make us feel like he's a nuisance. They develop an amazingly creative curriculum. Every child matters. You can tell the other teachers are just as lovely. You pass the infant and toddler rooms before going downstairs, so you can see the interactions. Education: I can only speak for preschool but each month has a theme and every day is a fun aspect of that theme. You get a copy of the curriculum every month. They do many hands on projects. They sing songs. They are always being introduced to things that pertain on all senses. They make slime. They paint. They color. They sometimes bake! They work a lot with their hands. They get dirty. They are always encouraged. Positive reinforcement all around. They recently had an art show. At pick up there is always a summary of what was done during the day. I'm not exaggerating-- it's fantastic. Facility: its an adorable set up with lots of books and sensory activities and toys. Very clean! The infant and toddler rooms have a lot of open space. Preschool has a section for classroom learning (Long tables) and an even bigger space for hands on activities / circle time. Only wish that the area to put strollers had some sort of canopy (since you keep them outside) I loathe stroller closets so I like that there is a space outside but I don't think plastic covers can totally protect a stroller in a prolonged downpour. :). It's in a great location: equidistant to Brookline Village and Coolidge Corner. There's a park right across the street. Safety: more than adequate student to teacher ratio. Excellent supervision. Door is always locked (buzz in system). Teachers are very vigilant during sign out. They always keep you informed of policy changes. Our son is so happy to go to school every day. His classmates are adorable. We love everyone there! We are so glad we found this place. If you are looking for a daycare please come set up a meeting with the school director and teachers! We really love the Little Corner Schoolhouse (LCSH). We are so glad that we have sent our girls to the LCSH for 3 years (Harvard St. and 87 School St. locations). We always feel welcomed, safe, and comfortable sending our girls. The teachers (Ms. Maryssa, Ms. Monica, Ms. Sandra) are very professional and caring for kids. Their programs are well-structured. Our girls learned a lot and had so much fun with art, yoga, cooking, science projects, and other various activities. The teachers also maintain the facility clean. The owner (Ina) is very kind, flexible, and supportive to the families. She understands the special needs of each family and tries to meet the needs. She always responds to emails in a timely manner, which helped our family significantly. We highly recommended the LCSH to any families and friends. read more

I'm shocked about the reviews on-line. I absolutely loved bringing my baby girl here. I'm a first time mother who HATED the idea of dropping my 8 week old off with strangers. I interviewed all the daycares in the area and knew right away I loved this place. The first day of the transition week was hard on me (I only dropped her off for an hour!) but the staff was so great, by the third day I couldn't stop telling everyone how shocked I was that I could trust these people 100%!! The staff made me feel so comfortable dropping her off every morning. I knew she was safe and happy. I would highly recommend LCSH to all my family and friends. read more

We sent both of ours kids to LCSH and had a fantastic experience for the 2 years before our kids attended Catholic School. The staff is really fantastic and our kids were always very safe and came home with smiles. The hours of operation are also pretty incredible with early drop off and late pick up when needed at no extra cost. Highly recommend! :) read more

I DO NOT recommend this daycare to any family. In my personal experience, the owner is dishonest and untrustworthy. Management (especially the owner) is completely inaccessible. The owner does not return calls and emails from parents (again in my personal experience) no matter how important the subject. I had to go to court for her to return my deposit, and I know two other families that had to do the same. (She lost in all three cases.) This is in the public record and can be verified at the Brookline courthouse. She has had legal battles with the other occupants of the building on Harvard street and has had liens placed on her daycare properties and home for failure to pay condo dues and state/local taxes. read more

Dishonest owner. She accepted our deposit and claimed it was 100% refundable if we needed to change our plans. We gave her plenty of notice and eventually had to take her to court. It took over a year and in the meantime she was expanding her business! If you look at her public records she has been sued by the other tenants where she owns the condo for Little Corner school house because she doesn't pay her condo fees. This is crazy. These fees maintain the building where these children go to school. Addendum on 1/30/17- The owner said that she would refund our deposit in person and in an email despite the fact her hand book said otherwise. And her public records on her property, multiple penalties on unpaid taxes, are telling. There are also numerous small claims suits that can be found in the Brookline Court House against her over the years. I am also using a nick name for privacy reasons. read more

Our child has gone to Little Corner School House 1 for over the past year. In that time he has transitioned from the infant room to the toddler room and we have been very happy with his time there overall. The best part about this school is the teachers - they are incredible. Really wonderful women that I'm thankful to have had involved in our child's life and care. Our child has a deep affection for every teacher that he's had and loves to run into the school and give them hugs before starts his day. And as a parent, I've appreciated their open communication and willingness to work with me on the normal little hiccups children experience with feeding, eating, etc. The teachers are very in-tune with the children's moods and it's not uncommon to see them doling out extra hugs or sitting on the ground with a fussy child when needed. Now that my child is in the toddler room the days are a bit more structured with activities. There's plenty of time for free play and the toys are many and varied (which was also true of the infant room). Our child is also learning. They work with the children on counting, colors, and animal sounds. About once a week the toddlers "cook", helping to make brownies or cookies or pasta. It's amazing how quiet 8 toddlers are when they are focusing on mixing brownies! They go outside every day (weather permitting) and there is a lovely playground within toddler walking distance (the infants are taken over in strollers and our baby loved the swings when younger). On days when the weather is poor they go downstairs and spend time playing at the sand table. Fridays are our child's favorite - pizza at lunch time and music with Wayne Potash in the afternoon! It's never easy to leave your child during the day but it makes it a lot easier when you see how happy they are. This is our second daycare and we've been very happy with it. I'm not sure about the specific problem that reviewer Stephen T. had but we have not had any problems with the owner, Ina. She's been very accommodating to our family. LCSH has been like a second home for my children. We started off when my oldest daughter was around 3 years old, transitioning out of a terrible Montessori experience. We had a wonderful experience with pre-school and she adjusted right away and looked forward to school every morning. Ellen (lead PS teacher) was incredibly gifted. My daughter moved on to pre-K where she enjoyed field trips, outings, play production and weekly swim class (and now can swim independently). She also started early literacy and math. When she transitioned to KG in public school, she was more than ready. The staff treated her as if she was their daughter at LCSH, always very loving and caring. To this day, they greet her with warmth and hugs and kisses. When we had a second baby, we wanted a nanny to ease our home life but our nanny turned out to be terrible on day 1. So, I called the owner (Ina) in a panic, and she called me bad within minutes asking me to start transitioning our baby daughter the VERY NEXT DAY into the infant room. She was welcomed with love and kindness and was treated like a princess. The infant teachers are simply incredible, and they love every single child they take care of. Additionally, they are always doing creative art projects with the infants that you can take home! Our daughter loved coming even during separation anxiety months! LCSH has been truly an amazing blessing for our family. Ina also sent one of the teachers to bring my older daughter over to PreK when she didn't get into the after school program in KG. She has always been very flexible, kind, and responsive. She takes concerns very seriously and will work with families to address them. When she found out I was ill at some point, she offered to bring me food or groceries! The families in this center are like family to her. The greatest asset to LCSH are the incredible teachers, who truly love their job and it shows! read more

My daughter has been at the Harvard Street location since she was about 18 months old. We switched here when we moved and she's done so well there. The teachers are so good with the kids and obviously care for them. My daughter has really flourished there and my husband and I talk about how much she's learned since starting there all the time. I highly recommend this daycare to families. My daughter has attended Little Corner Schoolhouse for the past five years, from 8 weeks to five years old. The nurturing, love and support from the staff allowed me to return to my job as a physician one hundred percent and I was assured my newborn was safe and sound. As she progressed into the toddler classroom, I was pleasantly surprised as I was driving home with her in the back car seat and heard my toddler counting in Spanish. when I dropped her off in the morning, she often screamed when I left however she was always quickly comforted by her teachers. when I picked her up at the end of the day,she screamed when it was time to leave. This pre- school classroom was truly unbelievable. My daughter's ability to communicate, her language, vocabulary improved significantly each month. It was clear that the teacher were truly invested in creating individualized curriculum that pushed the children to reach their true potential. She began talking about tadpoles and mammals which was way ahead of my friends children. The Pre-k curriculum was so advanced my daughter learned things most children will not learn for a few years. Now that she will be attending kindergarten in September I am confident that she is completely prepared and will have a successful year because of what she learned at Little Corner SchoolHouse. As a mother of a 3 and 6 yr-old trying to pursue a career, I'm extremely grateful towards all staff members at the Litlle Corner School House (LCSH) for their kindness, flexibility and generosity! This preschool has a wonderful educational program! My little boy loves this place since he likes to learn. Everyday, they teach a new topic and different aspects around that topic. This makes it really interesting for the children. At my old daycare centre, my boy used to cry when I leave him. At the LCSH, he can't wait to get to class and waives goodbye to me as soon as we get in. I'm very happy that I found such a good daycare! Your children deserve better. My son spent less than a year here, and I sincerely regret it. In my personal opinion, it was chaotic and stressful environment. There was frequent teacher turnover (3 during my son's time at little Corner Schoolhouse), and ultimately, a number of incidents which scared me. I was very concerned about my four-year-old's safety - specifically the people invited to be around the children. And yes, like others, it concluded with costly legal action. Our older sons started at LCSH four months ago when he was 16 month old and he loves it. He comes home very happy and "talks" about his busy day. He is excited to go back every morning and that to me is the most important indication that the LCSH was the right choice for us. All the teachers that I have met were very nice, caring and fun. They write a little report every day about our son's activities, eating, naps. I like the fact that the toddle room is sunny and the kids get to go to the public park every day. That way they get to learn their "street smart" skills and are not confined just to a private playground. There are also many other activities that the kids can enjoy in the classroom - from music to painting and reading. I am happy to see that my son is learning a lot while having a good time. Our experience was so positive that will be enrolling our younger son in the spring. Also, I have to disagree with the review that mentioned the owner being unreachable. In my experience she has returned all my emails within a few hours, never forgot to follow up and addressed all my questions and concerns. Overall I would recommend LCSH to any parent without hesitation. read more

We started sending our daughter to Little Corner School House in January when she was 11 weeks old. All the teachers are very nice and my daughter always seems happy. I love that the school provides notes on what the kids do all day, when they eat, had their diapers changed, and slept, so I always feel like I get a full picture of what my daughter's day was like. The teachers are open to helping you with any issues and taking directions if you have a specific concern. I know my daughter is in fantastic hands all day! read more

My second child just graduated from the pre-K at Little CORNER schoolhouse and we cannot say enough amazing things about the school. Our first child began at 6 months, and our second child began at 1 year old. They both stayed through the pre-K class. We LOVED the teachers there! They are kind, warm, loving, and great educators. Our kids learned so much - not just about art, science, reading, math, etc - but about being a good friend, working through challenges, and having self-confidence. Ellen and Sarah in the pre-school class tailor their curriculum to the kids in the class making sure to build on their strengths. Monica and Stephanie in the pre-K are an amazing team that totally prepare the kids for Kindergarten. Stephanie taught both of our kids to love reading and Monica taught them about the wonders and beauty of nature. They came home daily talking about all the amazing things they learned. These teachers have helped us raise our kids and are like our family. We are so sad to be leaving. read more

LCSH is a great, great day care. The teachers are THE reason to come here. All very warm and understanding of individual childrens needs. They truly love our kids and make that very clear! Little Corner SchoolHouse was a great experience for my young daughter. It gave her the change to grow social and emotionally in a safe environment with highly trained teachers that I truly felt comfortable leaving my child with. The teachers really were great and every day she came home she new a little more than the day before. The school hours could not have been more convenient for my hectic work schedule and the updates they provided daily were great. My daughter also loved the field trips they would take her on every once in a while. Overall I thought they did a wonderful job promoting the growth of my daughter in many way in a very safe learning environment. She is so much more social now around other children and I cant thank Little Corner SchoolHouse enough for that. I have told my friends and family about this school and couldn't recommend it more. The teachers really do make all the difference at this school. read more
