When we moved, the hardest part of leaving Brookline was the decision to take our 2.5-year-old away from Little Children Schoolhouse. He started there at 6 months, after a difficult daycare experience in New York. From the very beginning, Lissy and his teachers exuded confidence and warmth, which was just what I needed as a new mom. They quickly got to know his personality and I looked forward to the photos and videos they'd send throughout the day, as well as the news and little stories they'd share during pick-up. What I love the most about LCSh is that it really feels like a family. The teachers seem to genuinely know and like one another, and you can feel that energy when you walk into the school. Without exception, all the teachers are attentive, affectionate, and loving. My son's classroom teachers knew his likes and quirks and the things that made him laugh. One of his favorite teachers even gave him a present on his birthday. The teachers in other classrooms all knew him too, and would say hello to him by name if we ran into them at the park or on the street. The day is a perfect mix of free play, music, art, time in the in-school library/"ball room"/climbing gym, trips to the park, and age-appropriate educational/developmental activities. Plus a blissful afternoon nap that I thought might be a euphemism until I had to pick him up early one day for a doctor's appointment. The entire infant and toddler floor was dark, with soft music playing. Every. Child. Was. Asleep. I couldn't believe it. I will be forever grateful for the loving care that my son received from Lissy and his teachers. They exceeded all my expectations for exceptional childcare. We will miss them very much. read more

We have had our two kids at LCSH for over a year now and writing this review as our older goes to Kindergarten. My younger kid started at 9 months and is now transitioned into the toddler room. We are so grateful for the care and love that the staff and teachers at LCSH have shown our children. The teachers are warm and kind and the owners - Lissy and Gladys - truly have a passion for young children and families. One of the things I love about the school is that all of the teachers seem to know the children. There is strong teacher retention in an industry where it is really hard to retain teachers. When I talk to the teachers, many have taught multiple kids in one family. When my kids walk through the hall, teachers from other rooms come out, give them hugs, say hello - they know our kids well and by name. It makes it really feel like a family - each kid runs into the school each day and don't look back for us. I also appreciate how well-prepared for Kindergarten my older kid is. They are well-versed in the skills kids need when they enter school. Lissy and Gladys also understand the demands of working parents. They worked hard to keep the school open safely during Covid, which was so critical for us. They also have a reasonable tuition and good hours. I think the location might put off some initially - but this place is really a gem and I'm so glad our kids are there! Thank you LCSH for being my kids' home away from home. read more

Our son has gone to this daycare for the last 4 months and sadly we are moving and will have to end our time with them. This was our first foray into finding full time care for our infant son while my husband and I worked and it has been the best experience. The administrators who run the facility are communicative and even knew our infant son's name when we were walking in the halls. The staff in our Infant room have been so sweet, caring, and loving with our child. They communicate frequently each day through an app to provide information about his care (feedings, naptime, pictures, diapers, etc.) They are also very communicative about when you need to provide more wipes, diapers, etc. They accepted our cloth diapers and we learned each other's needs in the first week of his care. They provide little cards with our son's footprints, handprints and pictures when holidays occur. They shared a developmental checklist when he was 6 months old so we could connect with our pediatrician about what he was/wasn't doing at that age. Drop offs and pickups have been pretty easy as well - even on a busy street with few parking spots at the facility (people are always coming and going so it's been pretty easy to find a parking spot if needed). It has been the best experience and we're sad to leave. I highly recommend sending your child to this daycare. read more

We had a half-year visit to Boston. I found my daughter the LCSH via the internet and also Yelp. Before we made the decision, we asked one of our friends to pay a visit to three day care centers in the brookline area. My fried summarized that LCSH was the best out of the three: clean environment, good international environment with kids from different countries and with different skin color, warm smiles from teachers. We started in Mid-September of 2018 and ended in early Feb 2019. My daughter enjoyed her stay there. Her teach, Miss Jessy & Miss Lynett were so kind and helpful. My daughter could speak very limited English before coming to U.S., but she was capable of fluent communication with teachers and kids in the class. I could see the efforts from the teachers. Class activity was well scheduled and organized. The out-of-class activity was also active. We participated four birthday parties organized by her classmates. On the parties, we also saw several kids who had been once in this class and entered K last September. It is like a big family and the connection never ends. Due to my job arrangements, we had to go back to China, but my daughter missed LCSH, her friends and her teachers very much. We will keep in touch with them. The days in LCSH will definitely be one of the most precious memory. read more

My daughter started at LCSH as soon as we moved to Brookline in 2014. She had just turned 3 when we began, and just 'graduated' in August to move on to kindergarten. I can't say enough good things about LCSH. We immediately felt fully at ease with the school, and it was clear that our daughter was happy, well cared for and thriving. The teachers are warm and committed and the kids have a great time (and learn a lot too). For two weeks up to her birthday party my daughter kept insisting that we invite all her teachers to her party, and asked us many times over our 2 years at LCSH to set up playdates with her teachers - she really loved them. The community is made up of a wonderful group of parents, and my daughter made great friends that I know she'll keep over the years. I look forward to everyone re-uniting at camps, sports teams and eventually the high school. The classrooms are great, and the kids really learn a lot. While we weren't particularly concerned about having 'lessons' at this age, I was very impressed with how much the teachers did, and how much my daughter talked about the science experiments they conducted in class (and really seemed to understand key concepts!). LCSH is a great place if you're looking for a warm, supportive and fun daycare or preschool for your child's early years. read more

We feel incredibly fortunate that our daughter, Emily, attended Little Children Schoolhouse. From day one, the environment was warm, welcoming, and truly felt like a second home for her. The highlight of her experience, without a doubt, has been the amazing teachers. Emily's teachers were not only highly skilled in early childhood education, but they were also incredibly patient, caring, and attentive to each child's unique needs. They always went the extra mile to make learning fun and engaging, fostering both Emily's academic and emotional growth. We saw such a positive transformation in her confidence and social skills, and I know this is largely thanks to the encouragement and support from her teachers. The daily communication was also a huge plus. We appreciated receiving updates on Emily's progress, pictures of her activities, and notes about how she was growing and learning. It gave us great peace of mind knowing she was in such good hands. Now that Emily has graduated and moved on, we look back at her time at Little Children Schoolhouse with deep gratitude. Little Children's Schoolhouse is a great daycare. Our daughter went to LCS from 6 months to 2 years 4 months. The only reason we are leaving LCS is because we are moving out of state. LCS was great and our daughter and us are going to miss them a lot. The best thing is the people, all the teachers and administration are truly caring, loving and patient. You can tell that the teachers care about each kid and enjoy what they do. The facility is clean, they keep updated with activities. Each class has unique activities for the age of the group. Every time our daughter moved to the next class, it was sad because she loved her class but every time it was a good change because they kept incorporating new learning activities for the kids and the transition was always smooth and she would get used to and love the new class. It was also very nice the activities and events that were organized before COVID. There was a Mother's day breakfast, the Halloween parade was my favorite. The other thing that is great is that the daycare is bilingual, most of the teachers are bilingual. They play Spanish songs and they teach them colors, numbers and basic things in Spanish and English. We are really going to miss LCS and it did feel like an extended family. read more

My daughter started her preschool at the beginning of January 2018. The classrooms of LCS were clean, bright and beautifully decorated. The director and teachers were warm and professional. My daughter looked forward to going to preschool every morning. All the teachers at LCS embraced my daughter and worked hard to make her feel as comfortable as possible. It's clear they had a passion for what they did and took pride in providing a clean and caring environment for the children in their care. We could see our daughter developing as a result of the excellent curriculum provided here. The schedule was filled with amazing activities including YOGA, playground activity, music, swimming, hand-made and so on. My daughter's English progresses quickly, and now the communication has been excellent. Each day when I pick her up, she was happy to tell me what she did and what she learned. I love knowing that my daughter was safe, learning and having so much fun at LCS! We recommend it to all our friends and have many friends who go there. The only reason we are leaving is that we are going back to China, and we can't imagine finding another daycare that compares to this one. Thanks LCS, We miss you so much! My daughter spent nearly four years at LCSH. She started as a 3 month infant and we just left at the end of this month because my office moved to a new location. Throughout her years at LCSH, my daughter was loved and supported by the caregivers at LCSH. She moved through all of the age-rooms at LCSH from infant, through older infant, into toddler and older toddler to preschool, and finally preK. All of the teachers at the school know her, and she greets them all with affection. We will miss the teachers and the school very much. The teachers all know her personality and her moods, and supported her through some challenging medical events in our family. LCSH was wonderfully able to support our daughter, altering some transition times to accommodate her social needs. Furthermore, she also received an enriching experience that fired up her curiosity about the world around her as well as prepared her academically for whatever her future may be (she is reading phonetically at age 4 and has a strong grasp of numbers, addition and subtraction). We can't say enough good things about LCSH. I am so glad that I entrusted my baby/toddler/preschooler to their care, and we miss the wonderful environment created there. read more

I was nervous about sending my 3 year-old daughter to a larger daycare when we moved to Boston, but LCSH has really become our extended family over the past 2 years she has been there. The teachers cared for my daughter as if she were their own with patience and love, and she was able to make great friends in a supportive environment even though she is shy. I was very happy with the academic curriculum as well. I am a scientist and doctor, but was never really exposed to the scientific method until middle school. However, the LCSH preschool does weekly science experiments while teaching kids the scientific method including hypothesis generation, gathering data, and generating a thesis for simple experiments. In addition, my daughter didn't have motivation to learn how to read at home, but LCSH made reading fun, so now my daughter is reading short words, and even some in Spanish. This is pretty cool and advanced stuff for pre-K, and my daughter is now excited about science/reading and is more prepared for kindergarten than I ever was. I would 10/10 recommend LCSH to any parent for all kids with all learning types. read more

My daughter attended Little Children Schoolhouse this past year, before moving on to Kindergarten. She absolutely loved her time there. Her teachers, as well as the entire staff, made it a very positive environment and experience for her. She would tell us excitedly about her yoga classes and her trips to the park or to the fire station. The lessons she has learned there have well prepared her for the transition to Kindergarten. While these trips had to be altered or suspended due to COVID-19, her teachers continued to find ways to engage the children, maintain a fun and warm environment, and keep up with state and local protocols related to mask wearing, social distancing, etc.. As a working parent the hours were quite convenient. I was able to drop her off on the way to, and pick her up on the way home from work. Many days it was hard to get her to leave as she would want to stay and finish up some project she was working on, or some game with her teachers and friends. LCSh was a great fit for our daughter and I would highly recommend them to any parents looking for child care/pre-K options in the area. read more

We started our son at Little Children's Schoolhouse when he was 10 months old and from day one we felt like he loved and supported. He was moved through four classrooms before we moved out of state when he turned 3. In each classroom the teachers found ways to connect with him and help him feel comfortable. When we were worried about a transition to a new classroom Lissy went above and beyond to work with us to ease our worries and find a plan that worked best for everyone. And ultimately, Lissy knows the students so well that she was always right about when our son was ready to move up to the next class! We are so thankful for our time at LCSh. It really feels like the teachers and staff are part of your extended family. Logistically speaking, Lissy and the staff are very prompt communicators, we loved the App that they use to communicate and share photos with families, and the facility is bright, colorful, fun, and always super clean. Both of my kids have been at LCSH since they were tiny. LCSH is an absolute gem. I've always said that the teachers here do a far better job of raising my kids than I ever could! In the most sincere way, they make every child feel like they are the most special kid in the class. My kids look forward to school every day. My very sensitive older daughter has absolutely THRIVED, made countless important friendships, and has learned to express her "leader" side. Her teachers have encouraged her inborn love of reading and math without ever compromising her need for ample free play time, and she is more than prepared to start kindergarten. She comes home teaching me yoga poses on Mondays. I am immensely grateful to Lissy, Gladys, and Allison for the incredible environment they create every day. I wish every child in the country had the opportunity to blossom in a preschool like this one - the world would be a better place. read more

I have found the extended school by internet before coming in Boston ( I'm French): the website is really well built and represent perfectly the school : so I contacted the team by email and we took a appointement to visit the school the day after we arrived in Boston: 3 days later, my two kids started the school ( Infant class: 3 months old and preK-class: 4 years old ). This school is really amazing , we are very satisfied and feel lucky to find it ( a lot learning activities , my son is speaking very well english , better than me! He know also some words in Spanish). My daughter grows up in a good environment with other kid's contact and her teachers! Now it's time for us to come back in France, thank you so much "little children schoolhouse, extended family " for this life-experience and to have caring so well my children I recommend this school to anyone , especially for expat' like us . We cannot speak highly enough of Little Children's Schoolhouse!!! Our son started at LCSh at six months and our younger daughter around the same age. They are truly an extension of our family and we feel so grateful to have had them in our lives! Our son would often sit in the car on our ride home and tell us how much he loved his teachers and friends. Our daughter at only seven or eight months would grab for her teachers at drop off. We just felt how loved they were everyday. I will never forget the day that I came to school and our son's teacher showed me that he knew all of the colors of the rainbow. The staff and teachers at Little Children's truly love your child as their own and there is no greater feeling as a parent when you drop your child off at school to know they are safe, loved and learning. Little Children's School House (LCSH) is the BEST childcare facility around. The love and care they show for the children are light years ahead of other programs. They accelerate the children academically to a level where the kids don't even realize how far advanced they are. My family unfortunately heard about LCSH late and my son was only able to spend one year with them. In that time he learned to read, solve math equations, recite numbers , colors and many other words in Spanish. Perform science experiments, stand up and confidently give a presentation about a women in history- celebrating women's month. The kids went on field trips; weekly yoga lessons...the list goes on and on. I am bias in says that the Pre-K team will love your child to pieces and when they leave for kindergarten they will be prepared and ready for the next stage. We came from out of state knowing little about Brookline and the Boston area. Little Children School House became soon our true extended family. At the time the facility on Boylston had just opened and we enrolled our pre-schooler there. Our son had a fantastic time at Little Children School House where he found loving and caring teachers and learned a lot, arriving very prepared to Kindergarten. When few years after our daughter was born, we had no doubts, we wanted her to attend and experience Little Children School House. The journey from a 6 month old baby to a Pre-K student was fantastic: we had the piece of mind of knowing our baby-toddler-pre-schooler was in caring hands in a safe and nurturing environment.
