we have been here from January 2023 and we can't say enough good things. Each day my son is happy to go to daycare (especially music day!!) and when I go to pick him up he doesn't want to leave! I love the curriculum, it includes lots of activities both arts and crafts and physical movement. my 2yo came home singing the a-b-cs! more importantly, the teachers are absolutely phenomenal. We were nervous first parents and very concerned about sending our little one to daycare. We sent our son in at around 4 months old and he adapted very quickly with the aid of the amazing staff at LCSH. They were warm and accommodating. While we were nervous that they did not follow our schedule at home, they ultimately did what we think was best for our son and he became a better napper being at school with their schedule. They take the children outside almost every day. The staff love the children like their own and they became family. Our son was so excited to be dropped off every day. We had to move and I really do miss this daycare.I wish we could have stayed. Nothing but good things to say about LCSH! read more

Our son started at Little Children Schoolhouse when he was 3 months old and we cannot say enough good things about this daycare! Gladys and all the teachers are amazing and treated him with so much love and enthusiasm from the moment he was dropped off until he was picked up. When he got older and switched to the toddler class, he would run into his classroom so excited to start his day there. We also really enjoyed getting to see the photos of him every day doing circle time, stories, arts projects, playtime outside, music classes, dancing, and so much more. We have loved LCS. Both of our children have attended, our first for nearly 5 years, and the second for a year so far. Both have loved attending and we have appreciated the care and love they gave our kids. The kids have been well cared-for each step of the way. They receive lots of attention in the infant and toddler classes, and they begin following a more structured curriculum in the older toddler class through preschool and pre-K. We've been very happy with how well the school has taught our oldest, and we also appreciate their patient teaching through the typical disciplinary issues a toddler and preschooler experiences. We always found the administration very easy to work with. Gladys is easy to contact and quick to respond. The negative reviewer who expected instant communication when signing her child up for daycare on one day's notice(!) is completely unrealistic. Routine communication is good: for younger children we receive photos from their activities almost daily. The teachers send photos from older kids' classes weekly or so, and they also send out monthly emails with the class curriculum. The facilities are nice, especially for the older classes, and the kids get outside all the time. There is a playground on site for the younger kids, and older kids walk to the many playgrounds around Brookline Village. I was very impressed by how disciplined the children are when walking together outside of class; an unexpected benefit is that my oldest knew from a young age how to behave safely on a sidewalk. Other benefits of the center are that parking is typically quite easy (though you do have to pay between 8am and 6pm), and the center has long hours compared to most (opening at 7 and closing at 6). Unlike other centers that follow school calendars, LCS is open everyday except for holidays. The school puts on special events frequently, including an adorable Halloween parade, field trips for older kids, and a wonderful graduation ceremony at the end of pre-K. We've been very happy at LCS and recommend it for anyone looking for childcare. read more

We love Little Children's Schoolhouse! We sent two kids there - one from 18 months through Pre-K and one from 3 months to 2 years (we only left since we moved away from the area). The staff and teachers are wonderful and very loving to the kids. They have helped us navigate some big things, from potty training to the "terrible threes", to preparing our older son for the arrival of his baby brother. The facility is very clean and the children spend a lot of time outside, which we love. The owners (Gladys and Lissy) are very responsive. We have met a lot of very nice families there as well and it's a great little community. They use the Brightwheels app to send you messages and updates throughout the day, and we especially love getting pictures of the kids having fun with their friends. We were especially grateful and impressed with LCSH for their incredible work during the COVID pandemic. This time has been very hard on all of us. But because of the dedication and creativity (and exhaustive cleaning) of the LCSH team, we have felt very comfortable sending our children to the school. It's really been a wonderful experience sending our kids there. read more

Our son went here from about 6 months to a little over 2 years. We were so nervous to send him to daycare with him being both right at the start of the pandemic but the staff put us right at ease. I can't say enough good things about our experience here and would not have moved him if we hadn't moved out of the area. He looks forward to going to school everyday and gives solo his teachers big hugs at the end of the day. He always looks so happy in his daily pictures and I love how all the teachers greet him when we walk down the hallway. I really can't thank them enough. We have had an amazing experience sending our daughter to Little Children Schoolhouse. We started her in the infant classroom when she was just two months old and we were very nervous about her transition. We were put at ease by how professional and careful the staff is and by the regular updates and photos we received (often the first photo before we even made it back home from dropoff!). The classrooms are bright and joyous and we love how much time the children spend outside. Gladys has been so easy to work with and wonderful as a resource. Gladys really knows our daughter -- for example she proactively helped coordinate classroom progression as our daughter grew older. But what really stands out has been the genuine care and warmth of all of the teachers. We feel like our daughter has always been in good, loving hands and it is reflected in how much she likes going to daycare: some mornings our 15mo will grab her shoes, walk to the door, and start waving and saying "byeee" to let us know she's ready to go! It has been wonderful to find a daytime home for our daughter where she is so happy and loved. read more

I enrolled my 15 month old daughter at Little Children Schoolhouse when I was informed that her previous daycare center was unexpectedly closing at the end of this year. The anxiety that I felt about leaving her at a new school with new teachers and friends was unbearable. We loved her previous daycare and felt so comfortable there. To my surprise, the transition was seamless thanks to the center's director, Gladys, and her teachers. Everyone is so friendly, outgoing, and welcoming. Gladys sends me numerous pictures and videos of my daughter throughout the day, so I see firsthand what she is doing. In every picture, she is smiling, laughing, and engaged in an activity. Yesterday was music class where a musician played live music and she was completely enthralled. What I also have noticed is that the teachers are always at the children's level, playing and interacting with them. The teacher to child ratio is great and I have never seen more than 4 children with 1 teacher. The center is spacious and clean. Although, it is located in the basement of a church (which I was worried would be dark and depressing), it is warm, colorful, and lively and the children go outside 2 times a day. They have a nice playground at the center with lots of toys and they go on walks everyday (to nearby parks or the library). I felt compelled to write this review because I was completely devastated when my daughter's previous daycare announced it was closing. My 4 year old had also gone there and we had so many unforgettable experiences there. I believed that I could never be happy with another center. I know that other parents may be experiencing these same emotions and I just want to provide them with some reassure that Little Children Schoolhouse is a top rate daycare with an amazing director and wonderful teachers who clearly love their job and love the children they care for. I have zero anxiety leaving her there every morning because I see how happy she is throughout the day and I have incredible trust in the staff. They are loving, affectionate and happy which is clearly evident when I look around and see how happy the other children are. read more

After 4 years and 2 kids going to LCSH every day we are crushed by the prospect of moving away from the area. This school, the loving teachers and administrative staff are like family and have set a high bar. Our 3.5 year old daughter loves Little Children's Schoolhouse @ Washington Street - the teachers are very sweet and caring, and the facilities are very clean, which is especially important during this covid era! The Washington Street location is very bright and airy and a great environment for little kids. The director is very responsive and you can feel that the daycare is run very well. The kids are masked indoors currently as required by the mask mandates, but to be honest, my daughter doesn't seem to mind. During her time at LCSH, the teachers have helped my daughter do everything from finishing her potty training (very important for a toddler!) to learning her ABCs. The teachers also braid and do fun hairdos for my daughter all the time and she loves it! Would definitely recommend this daycare. read more

Our son started at LCSH in the older infant class and continued through all the transitions up to preschool (Washington St). He was in another childcare center prior to this and we had some specific hopes for a new place. The process from the very beginning was welcoming and seamless - Gladys is very communicative and flexible and we've appreciated her management and care over the years. Our son thrived at LCSH, really loved his friends and teachers there, even with all the changes. We really liked the utilization of a daycare app to get updates and loved that they spent a lot of time outdoors. We really valued a caring and loving environment for him to grow in and got just that with our experience there. We had to say goodbye because we moved away but would recommend them. Also in light of COVID, we felt very comfortable with how they managed reopening and implementing all the safety precautions (mask wearing indoors and outdoors for the most part) A few notes for the sake of transparency: I think some challenges included: many teachers who tend to rotate which is nice on one hand so the kids get to know many caring adults, but that was a struggle sometimes with our son. Most teachers are bilingual in Spanish and English though Spanish tends to be the first language. We didn't have major issues in that regard but something to keep in mind. Lastly, I don't think the curriculum is incredibly robust or consistent if that's a high priority for you. We definitely felt he stayed engaged and enjoyed it though! read more

I am writing this review because we have just moved away from the Brookline area and would like to recount the absolutely positive experience that my son had at Little Children Schoolhouse. He attended daycare there for a little over a year in the toddler rooms. My greatest impression about the teachers there is that everyone is extremely kind and loving. This is the place to bring your child if you want the "family" experience. The teachers communicated with me throughout the day, sending pictures on the Brightwheel app. which I really appreciated. The school is bilingual in English and Spanish, and my son would often sing "Estrellita" to me before bedtime. The kids also get lots of outdoor time which is fantastic since my toddler has tons of energy! I found the center's director, Lissy, very responsive to any of my questions and e-mails, and also very understanding when I chose to keep my son out of daycare for the summer when the pandemic started, and she saved his spot for him to return in the fall (and did not ask me to pay for those months!). Overall, I would highly recommend this center if you are looking for high quality, loving childcare. We will miss them very much! read more

We sent two children (of VERY different temperaments) through LCSH over the course of five years, one entering as a preschooler and the other as a "young toddler". Little Children Schoolhouse is a family in every way -- from the two wonderful sisters who lead it, on through the attentive and affectionate teachers, and finally with the children who care so much for each other. We are sad to move on, but so grateful to have found such a nurturing, diverse, and happy school for our children to grow up in. They are accommodating of each child's individual needs and strengths, and are resourceful in making sure that all their students feel joyful and safe. They take seriously their role in developing budding students, and our children left with great school skills and an appreciation for natural science. We sent our son to LCSH in the midst of the COVID pandemic. I remember dropping him off for the first time and feeling very anxious. We were greeted by a smiling teacher, Rosita (who would become beloved by our son, and whom we quickly learned all the kids adored). She took our son into her arms. Of course, he immediately started crying but we were told best not to prolong the drop off. They closed the door and we heard him continue to cry. But then, within seconds the crying stopped as he listened to the teachers sing a welcome song. Since that day, he's never looked back. This is a testament to the warm and loving environment that the teachers create that make it a place our son looks forward to going (even on the weekends!). They do it all with a smile on their faces even after a tiring day of chasing these little ones around. He moved up to the older toddler class just as our family was going through a very difficult situation at home. Gladys and his teachers, Eunice & Karen, were absolutely wonderful during this time by giving extra care to our son but also allowing us the flexibility we needed. I love that the teachers incorporate Spanish into the curriculum. Our son comes home singing Spanish songs that he's learned in class and trying out new words. On the administrative side, Gladys is extremely responsive and thoughtful. The Bright Wheel app is great too - they post pics and updates throughout the day. I am also very grateful for how LCSH navigated COVID and maintained a safe environment and timely communicated COVID related concerns. We will miss LCSH dearly and highly recommend! read more

Sending our child to LCS was by far the best investment in her future that we could have ever given her. Her socialization skills and learning abilities were fine tuned and solidified by her "second family." She even learned Spanish and would point at things and say them in English and Spanish! They made going back to work ok. I can't say enough good things about this fantastic facility and it's loving teachers. My wife and I took our son to Little Children Schoolhouse from 4 months to 19 months. We LOVED it there. The teachers are very sweet, engaging, playful, and truly care about their students. It was heart warming seeing how well our son interacted with the teachers and how much they teachers genuinely enjoyed engaging with my son and the other students. My wife and I were always surprised when every teacher in the school knew our son's name and wanted to engage with him whenever they saw him. We loved the exposure he received to both English and Spanish while he was there. The curriculum was thoughtful and developmental. Our daughter went to Little Children's schoolhouse for her first 4 months of daycare, both in the little infants room and the larger infants room. We would have loved to keep her there longer, but were moving out of the area. The staff at Little Children's are excellent, they are very caring and our daughter was very happy there. Our son has been in the toddler program at LCS for most of 2018, and we have been exceedingly pleased by and grateful for the care he has received. I can not say enough positive things about my experience with Little Children Schoolhouse; and more importantly, my son's experience. I had to put him in daycare as soon as my maternity leave was over, when he was three months and to say I was nervous/hesitant/sad was an understatement. I toured and looked into quite a few programs and none matched how I felt at LCSH. The directors and teachers were so welcoming! Once he started, the teachers were SO welcoming...they were encouraging, reassuring and really individualized the care they provided. The rotated the teachers amongst a few women and I loved each one. They made the morning drop-off smooth and easy, had music playing and had the biggest smile on their faces which made my son smile & laugh each morning when he saw them. My husband and I soon found out we would be moving out of state a few months later and this is the only reason we had to leave. I never thought I would be crying to say goodbye! We love Little Children's Schoolhouse very much! Our daughter has been there from 2 months to nearly 5 years old. We can feel that she is super happy there. She loves the teachers, actually the teachers are like families. She feels comfortable even when transition from one classroom to next level, because Gladys and the teachers make very good arrangements for this. They are really experienced and professional at taking good care of children. She also learns to put on her own clothes, have meals by herself, potty training and how to play with other kids in the daycare. We don't worry about her at all because she grows up healthy and happy there. We are also super happy that she can speak both English and Spanish! The teachers help a lot with her English and writing as we are not native English speakers. They're patient and loving. She now has her best friend in her classroom. Worst school director I've ever meet I met the education director name Gladys last Thursday August 28. She was very nice to give me a tour. I liked the center a lot even my husband against me send our toddler to daycare center at her early age. so I emailed the other director name Alison to find out which days they have opening since Gladys told me my baby can start as soon as coming week. I sent the email on Saturday August 31. Alison respond my email on Monday afternoon (September 2,2013 2:04pm) with other more information (tuitions, application, etc)and told me they only do minimum 3 days a week. I responded her same day(Monday, September 02, 2013 7:03 PM) I told her i like to send my baby go daycare starting tomorrow ( September 03 Tuesday) and other two days Thursday, Friday. I also had a question about how they charge tuitions. Allison respond my email on Tuesday morning(On Sep 3, 2013, at 8:15 AM) But she didn't mention anything about the days I was asking for. I respond her email immediately (on Tuesday, September 03, 2013 10:57 AM) to asked her:" Hi Allison,Can you confirm the days that we are looking for work. The three day are Tuesday, Thursday and Friday..." and I told her I plan on purchasing a sleeping bag for my toddler before Thursday. Because I was assuming she will respond my email soon and I can send my baby to daycare on Thursday. But I'm wrong. She was totally ignored me. until Thursday night (September 5,2013 11:11PM) I got an email from Allison. She wrote:"sure, see you tomorrow!!!! " really?are you kidding me??after 2 days and respond my email almost middle of night. see you tomorrow. She is unbelievable. It's very hard to believe that she is one of directors at the little children schoolhouse . she obviously don't care about this business. after Allison didn't respond my email. I told my husband the whole story and he tried to call the school few times. but no one to answer the phone. My husband tried to leave voice message but could not do it. Parents! Do Not send your little precious one to this place. Please think about this.if anything happen and you need to get answer or help from this school. My son has been part of the Little Children's family since he was 10 months old and he is now in the pre-K room. My second son joined the Little children's family when he was 2 months old and he is now 2. The teachers are absolutely loving and nurturing. I have complete confidence that my children are well taken care of. My sons absolutely love to go to school. There is a schedule of events for every month. There are so many age appropriate activities for the children. What I appreciate about the center is its emphasis on teaching respect, appropriate behavior and values. We have had a wonderful experience with our 2 children at Little Children Schoolhouse. Both of our girls have been there since they were 3 months old and have received excellent care. The teachers are very warm, caring, compassionate. Our toddler has learned a great deal in the older toddler room and really enjoys the various activities she gets to participate in. The administration has always been responsive to our needs and concerns and very supportive during transitions. Little Children School House is great! We have three kids and all of them have attended or currently attending LCSH. We are really happy that we have found this place for them. The staff there (Ms. Ingrid, Karen, Sandra, Lissy, Lucio, Zoe, just to name a few) are extremely warm and kind persons and are also very experienced and professional. "Extended family" is probably the perfect phase to describe how we feel about LCSH! My daughter started LCSH when she was three and has started the first grade this year. She is doing great on all grounds, both academically and socially. She has already won two Principal Super Stars! She loves her teachers at LCSH so much that from time to time she rides with me to visit them when I pick up the other two kids. My son has started Pre-K this fall. He also loves it. My youngest daughter started LCSH when she was 1-year old, at which time she could not yet walk. Now she is walking, and learning all kinds of tricks from the class. I really love it when I see the big smile on her face whenever I drop her off in the morning and pick her up in the afternoon! We like LCSH also because it offers a very rich and fun-filled curriculum. Our daughter was very well prepared when she started kindergarten. We are sure this happens to all kids at LCSH. This is another important reason why we have chosen it as THE preschool for our family. read more

The teachers are warm, loving, thoughtful, intelligent, creative, talented, and professional, and all the admin staff are completely involved in day to day operations. Our son went to Little Children Schoolhouse from the age of about 4 months to a little over 3 years, which was when we moved away to Pennsylvania. I find it hard to write a single review about Little Children as I find the quality of their education varies greatly with teachers and in the different classrooms. It was at first hard to give our son him away to a daycare Young Infants room we felt that he was very well taken care off. The teachers were very loving, someone was always sitting with an infant in her lap, singing or cuddling the babies. Unfortunately, matters seemed to get a little less positive as he went to the Older Infant rooms and then to the Toddlers. During that time, Little Children felt like a pretty standard daycare that tries to make things work so that it causes the least trouble for the teachers and directors. This includes not redressing the infants properly after changing diapers, having all children running around in a bib all the time, having parents put on the sunscreen before they put the children into daycare even if the children go outside hours after they get dropped off, turning the music up really loud in the infant rooms (to drown out the noise of the crying babies?) and finally pretty randomly pushing the children around from one room to the next (the transition is from Young Infant to Older Infant to Young Toddler and then Older Toddler). I guess this is generally a problem with daycares as opposed to family care - it would be much nicer if children could be in fixed mixed-age groups than going from one classroom to the next, always getting used to new teachers etc. Anyway, we often had the feeling that the most important criteria for changing a classroom was whether there was a vacancy in one room. If not, a child would be left in the old classroom even if it was bored to death with the much smaller children or missed all his friends, who had long gone on into the new classroom, so badly that he cried his eyes out every morning. Finally, the Big Toddler classroom was nothing short of wonderful. The teachers were extremely loving and seemed to be genuinely having fun playing with the children. The activities (train table, dress-up area, kitchenette, huge crafts area) were terrific and the children even got to watch a movie at the library every Friday. Another thing to consider about Little Children is that most teachers (apart from the ones in Older Toddlers) practically do not speak any English, just Spanish. While I speak a little Spanish, my husband could not communicate with the teachers at all and was very often at a loss as to what they were trying to tell him. The "progress reports" we got every day would invariably say "He had a good day play with teachers and friends". Nothing more except for maybe "need diapers". So if you actually want to know about your child's development (and you do not speak Spanish) this is not the place for you. It did get a little more specific in Older Toddlers - we actually got to know what kind of activities our son participated during the day, which we greatly appreciated! So, all in all, the teachers are nice to the children and well experienced and many of the issues I had with the daycare were probably typical parents-issues that did not necessarily affect our son much (apart from the room-changing routines). Our daycare experience certainly ended on a very positive note in the Older Toddler room. read more

Our son had a wonderful experience at the Harvard Street location. He was enrolled in the older infant room from 8-15 months, and we have nothing but positive things to say about the experience. The teachers were loving, patient, very responsive to any unique or individual needs. They cheered him on as he learned to walk, shared tips to help us with developmental milestones and illnesses, and we appreciated the detailed daily note and photos we received via text of our son at play! The babies went out for a walk nearly every day, rain or shine, and the facilities were always extremely clean. Both of my children attended LCS and we thought they provided such a loving and fun environment. My children were a little under 2 when the started and it was their first school experience. The teachers were so good helping my kids make the transition from home with mom to school. There really is no way for my words to express my gratitude and happiness with our families experience with Little Children's schoolhouse. As a first time mom, with no family in close proximity--LCSH filled the void of support and guidance on so many levels. Looking back I remember the stress and anxiety that went along with choosing child care for my precious little girl. At the time she seemed so precious I couldn't imagine anyone but myself and husband caring for her. We interviewed nannies, viewed in home daycare, and toured many daycares. What I often saw was bored children or caretaker's that looked disengaged and exhausted. To my husband's credit he stumbled upon a review of LCSH. We set up a visit. To walk into an infant room, with 8 little babies, see them all awake, and not hear one child crying and to see genuine love from all the caretakers sold me immediately. Beyond what I saw with my own eyes were incredible interactions with every teacher, and parent that passed by. Every parent we spoke with gushed about what a wonderful daycare this was. After over 3 years of being part of the LCSH I am telling you, set up a tour. You can see the difference. Allison, Gladys, Lissy and everyone else for that matter has been beyond amazing. We feel so fortunate for the first 3 years of our little girl's life she received exceptional care, exceptional experiences, and genuine love in our absence during the day. To drop your child off with no tears and have them run into their teachers arms for me--invaluable. It told me how happy, secure, and safe she felt with all of her teacher's and friends. She never noticed I was gone and often now she talks about going to school even on the weekend! In addition the curriculum, schedule, and calendar planning and educational exercises they keep the children submerged in are awesome. The entire team at LCSH works so hard to provide safe, clean and engaging environments for all the kids. Our little one loved music class in every room she was in and I personally find the yoga classes adorable and amazing! To have a toddler who has learned speak in both English and Spanish, and appreciate the amazing differences in all cultures is incredible. What LCSH has provided for our family and child has been more than I could have ever hoped for. My son started when he was 3 months old and just graduated. It is a wonderful environment, with stimulating activities and excellent teachers. During the past 5 years I met LCSH educators from neonatal to pre-k levels and all belonged to the top percentage in their class. Our daughter attended Little Children Schoolhouse from when she was 15 months until she was 2.9. It was our first experience with daycare, and ultimately, we were very happy with the care she received there. She adored several of her teachers, and we knew that they genuinely cared for her. She began and ended each day with hugs and kisses to, and from, her teachers. She also learned so much during her time at LCS. We appreciated that the directors knew her personally and she knew all of their names. It is a warm, loving environment in which she thrived. read more
