However, I should mention that that do have tuition assistance and will also help you look for any scholarships that you may qualify for so, don't let the fact that you have to pay tuition deter you from at least checking it out. Where there is a will there is a way. If every child were given a healthy place to grow and learn like this, the world would be a much better place. Heck! We should ALL be seen, honored and celebrated the way students are at this school! It is located in the Jewish Community Center however, it is NOT a religious school BUT it IS a 'spiritual' school in that the students are taught to care for one another, the greater community, the planet and environment and THEMSELVES. This being said, it is NOT some 'Hippy' school. It is a serious program and a lot is offered and expected from the students academically. I would say the classes are more akin to an undergraduate program at a good university. They are certainly far more challenging than a regular high school-private or public. The students are expected to research & write at a college level (They are WELL taught and guided to be able to do so). They all take Latin, do community service as well as internships in fields of their own interest. They research utilizing real scientific publications and are taught to properly use them. This is an exceptional college preparatory program. Upon graduation they should be able to coast on auto-pilot through an undergraduate degree. There is also a STRONG sense of community. No high school 'Clicks'. No one's excluded, there is NO bullying or teasing-PERIOD. All of these 'details' are paid close attention to by the staff. I could go on and on but , see for yourself. The headmaster's name is Wendy Weiner and she welcomes visitors. Mrs. Weiner is an exceptional human being. When she felt that South Florida was lacking an acceptable school for her two lovely daughters to attend--she OPENED her own school! Wow. That alone speaks volumes about her but she is also a warm, kind woman. She's strong and capable in a way that inspires others just through her presence. Her children are both amazing young women and demonstrate what an awe-inspiring mother Wendy is. Her eldest daughter is now attending college where she is a member of a co-ed 'Community Service' Fraternity. Clearly she is following in her parents footsteps and giving back to others. Mr. Weiner has also played an essential part in bringing Conservatory Prep to fruition. He is a warmhearted, friendly and earnest man. He works with sincerity and I swear the man has stealth skills! His modesty and humble way of keeping all the wheels in motion is admirable. A husband and wife team adds to the feeling of community that is rarely found anymore and set's a positive example for the children of a loving, intact marriage. Every detail in this tiny school has been considered and achieved. The students, faculty and parents/guardians form a community that touches my heart and feels more like an extended family than simply an institution of learning. Four years later I chose it again for my second child, who is now about to complete his preschool stage. Not to say that I didn't like any of the other schools I visited. We are lucky in Miami to have so many great choices for preschool. But this little gem spoke to my heart. It truly is a place where families experience learning together. As a cooperative preschool, parents work along side the teacher, who by the way has been there for about 20 years and is truly dedicated to her mission. The children learn, and learn to love learning, by doing a lot of what they do best: play...inside and outdoors. They also have daily structured art, math, science, reading, pre writing, and writing activities. Because of the class size, the teacher is able to assist each child at their own level, and there are about two field trips each month!!!, so as a group you also get to know Miami and what it has to offer the community quite well! You get to truly meet the parents of the other children, since it's not just a drop off place, and your family finances don't suffer, because it costs a fraction of what all other schools in Miami cost (plus VPK4 year is completely free!). The classrooms are beautifully decorated, giving a very peaceful vibe to kids, lots of open ended toys with no electronic toys around. There is a routine where children play outside and come inside to sit and eat together following circle time with songs and movements. After that free play. My daughter keeps asking to go back and already knows what's next. This routine provides safety. Snacks served are healthy, simple. The activities are calming and teaching real life (cleaning up the plates, composting, tidying up all together, sweeping the garden, watering the plants). There was not a single teacher I have met that was pushing for any specific religious or spiritual believes in the last 30+ sessions I have attended. This type of school environment is definitely not for all parents. Do your research and know that your kids won't be stressed to achieve academics as early as possible but they would be challenged to follow the routines to actually develop their social/real life skills which is the most important part of early childhood development.

She went from not knowing any letters to being a bookworm in nine months. I have so many anecdotes to tell but my favorite moment happened in February when I went to pick her up early from school so we could go to Disney World. Her class was working on a project that supports times table learning. She did not want to leave class early TO GO TO DISNEY WORLD!!!! She wanted to finish her project. As I waited for her I looked at the work the children do at the school in awe. They don't only work on memorizing maps in geography class, they study and draw their own maps on their workbook. Their work was so detailed... No wonder she doesn't want to leave. I am satisfied with so many aspects of waldorf education especially for the love of learning that it has ingrained in both my children.
