After much research and multiple visits to different centers in the area, we selected Home Away as our day care center of choice. Ms. Carmen and her assistants in the infant room are absolutely great. Very loving and caring to both of my boys. I believe they averaged about 8 infants in this room. The toddler rooms' teachers and staff were all great as well. These classes were larger (approx. 15-18 kids). My son learned a lot during his time in the toddler room. I appreciated greatly the daily sheet they provided at the end of each day with details of nap times, feedings, diaper changes and more. Cathy is one of the Directors (daughter to the owner, Maria). She is very well spoken and caring. Every encounter was pleasant. Tania is the supervisor. Also helpful and communicates well. The only reason why i knocked off a star was because of the preschool portion of this daycare. There were constantly new teachers, not sure why they kept leaving but the last one they had there was not quite to par as the rest of the teachers. Her demeanor came off as a bit fake and forced as if she didn't like engaging with the kids. Over time I just felt it was time to take my son out and have a fresh start somewhere else. BUT I am still a firm believer that this is a great day care for infants and toddlers.

They are Montessori based, but not fully, so there is more structure, while still having independence and learning through play in Montessori. They offer the best of both worlds. They are always willing to help with any concerns. My kids were very shy when they started. When Ms. Lisa saw how quiet my daughter was, she would periodically group her together with another child while working, so she could get more comfortable with other kids in the class. She ended up being everyone's best buddy. Ms. Jeannie has also helped my son overcome a lot of anxiety/socialization obstacles (being a Covid baby/toddler). The teachers go the extra mile to help kids with what they need. Both Ms. Jeannie and Ms. Lisa (the main teachers) are passionate about their job. The TA's are amazing too, especially Ms. Kate, who is always has a big sweet positive attitude! My daughter who is in first grade, went to preschool here. She and her friends from EKA are at a reading level of 2nd-3rd grade because of the love of reading they developed at the school. Imagine a preschooler asking about chapter books! This review is long overdue. EKA may not have many reviews, because they never ask parents to write them, knowing parents already have enough on their hands. I can't rave enough about this school!

I deeply regret sending my baby to this daycare, and I wish I had done more research into its…read morepublic complaints (3 filed complaints already) and inspection history (a Temporary license with repeated noncompliance over months) before enrolling. My baby was in the infant class, and I have serious doubts about the professionalism of the staff there, as well as their certifications and background checks. A worker repeatedly pushed my baby down into the crib while she was trying to arch her back and lift herself up. On another occasion, my baby was left crying in a high chair for over ten minutes with no one attending to her, then was wheeled into the kitchen area facing away from the camera -- seemingly to keep this out of view. When my baby dropped her pacifier on the floor, the worker put it right back to her mouth without even rinsing it off. This is even more troubling given that their "no shoes" policy to the infant room is essentially not enforced -- I personally witnessed multiple people walking through the infant room in outdoor shoes with no intervention from staff. When I raised these concerns with the head teacher, Joycelyn, and the blonde woman at the front desk, I was met with attitude and dismissiveness rather than a genuine response. The moment I saw how they handled a legitimate concern, I took my baby home and never went back. Don't be fooled by the positive reviews. Look up this facility's public licensing record via New Jersey Child Care Explorer. As of this writing, the facility has three complaints on public record -- including one describing a staff member repeatedly pushing down on an infant's head, similar to what my own child experienced. There's also a broader pattern of noncompliance, and the facility currently holds a Temporary license rather than a Regular one. That's a meaningful red flag worth weighing seriously -- not just a paperwork technicality.

My husband and I noticed how fast he developed and advanced academically. She was kind, loving, and always kept the kids busy with various activities over the course of the day. Ms. Peralta left suddenly a few months after we started, and things immediately took a turn for the worst. In fact, it seems like many of the experienced teachers had left this year, and the administration chose to promote the assistant teachers, who were highly inexperienced and lacked the proper training and qualifications. During the few months we stayed at the school after Ms. Peralta's departure, my son was moved from the toddler classroom to the preschool classroom. This was a complete disaster. His new teacher had a short temper. It was almost daily when my son would come home and tell me that his teacher was angry. I had heard from other parents in the class that they had noticed her temper as well and addressed it with director. She did not invest in the kids education, and was constantly having them sit on the floor as they passed the time. It had turned into more of a daycare than a school. My son even started forgetting the numbers and alphabet he learned in Ms. Peralta's class. His new teacher did not invest any time in the curriculum or his education. This isn't even the worst of it. A few weeks before our departure, I received a call from the school director reporting an incident that had taken place. Apparently the kids had returned from their daily play on the playground, and my two year old son was forgotten outside and left alone on the playground! Thankfully, another teacher saw him and reported the situation to the director. The director informed me that she had the intention of addressing it with the teacher and other staff. Regardless, I was absolutely livid to hear this. After this incident there continued to be no improvement in the quality of care or education, so we decided to pull him out permanently. I hope this review helps prospective parents make an informed decision on where to send their child. As I mentioned in the beginning, it is all dependent on the proper teachers. It seems like all the experienced teachers left during covid, and the administration made some poor choices with the teachers they hastily hired. I would also like to note that the school director and assistant director genuinely cared and wanted to work with our family on resolving these issues. The school offers gym time, a safe outdoor playground, sensory activities, and diverse after-school enrichment programs. * Bilingual Environment: The staff speak both English and Korean fluently, which has been incredibly valuable for our family. As a mixed household that doesn't strictly enforce Korean at home, this has helped my child develop strong comprehension. While she may not always speak it confidently, understanding her relatives is incredibly meaningful to us. * Care & Communication: The level of care is exceptional. Our family recently went through an unexpected TERMINATION at iPlusOneAcademy with only THREE days'…read morenotice. We are heartbroken and feel deeply sorry for what our child, and the other children who were also impacted, have had to go through. The 2025 school calendar did not include a February winter break. A winter break was newly introduced in 2026, and the winter camp program was added shortly before the break, during a week that was originally scheduled to be closed according to the academy's school year calendar. More than ten parents collectively raised concerns and requested clarification from the academy regarding the basis for this decision. Subsequent to the meeting between the parents and the director, the academy implemented a new policy addendum mandating parental signatures as a prerequisite for continued enrollment. The original agreement signed in the beginning of the school year did not include any terms addressing the academy's right to amend or modify its policies. The new policy addendum imposed limitations on parents' ability to collectively voice concerns about school policies and restricted their freedom to share honest reviews online. We did not consent to the policy and did not provide our signatures. The academy issued a termination notice merely 10 days after introducing the new policy. Following receipt of the termination notice, we formally requested an in-person meeting with the director to seek clarification regarding the circumstances and explore the possibility of resolving the matter. However, all of our efforts were declined, and we were notified in writing that communication would be restricted solely to email. The academy provided us with only a 3-day notice of termination, despite its own policy requiring a 30-day notice should a family choose to withdraw voluntarily. Arranging a new childcare on such a short notice caused a significant strain for our family emotionally and physically. Our child did not have any behavioral issues at school, and no payment issues. We strongly believe that when misunderstandings or disagreements arise between parents and a school, open communication and mutual understanding should be prioritized. However, in our experience, was more of a unilateral decision by the academy. Based on our two years of experience at this academy, we believe that the focus was placed primarily on tuition and fees rather than fostering a child-centered environment. We recommend that any family considering enrollment seek feedbacks from current and former families before making a decision.
