I'm so gleeful when I stumble across a little free library. What a sweet idea, and if something is…read moregoing to spread worldwide, this is the thing. For those unfamiliar, they are small house-shaped structures that at first glance could look like a large mailbox. You'll usually find books in them, though occasionally they're used as little free pantries (I saw these more often during the pandemic). It began in 2009, as a memorial to the founder's book-loving mother. The founder set a goal that the number of Little Free Libraries exceed the number of Carnegie libraries, and that goal was surpassed within a few years. At present there are over 100,000 libraries registered, so there may be more in the wild without registration. In 2021, one of the Yelp CM's (Lauren in Cleveland, perhaps?) held a virtual event with the organization and it was really neat to learn about building them... I would really love to have one of my own one day! This one is located in Bowmanville, a small residential enclave on the north side of Chicago. I have a few books that I've been looking to get rid of so I may just make a trip to this one and the one in Andersonville just a few blocks away from here to share with my fellow book lovers.

Some have way too many around. It solves every book lover's problems. It's a great concept that spreads all over the city and the country. It spreads the love for books, the adventures they takes us on, especially when we need to escape reality like nowadays. It spreads the idea of the community where people help each other in various ways. I explore near by neighborhoods for walks during COV-19 and while walking around this beautiful hilly street I discovered a cute little wooden house that hosts a Little Free Library. I loved the area even more. Thanks for creating it. Leave a book, take one. Spread the love for books and for fellow book worms. The world got a tad better and nicer once I saw this Free Library. I liked the decor of the box, but both SF locations I stopped by were just bright without the extra touches you tend to find in suburbia, like a bench or stepping stones. This locale had some great fiction and bio novels, but nothing caught my eye. I loved how easy it was to stop by though if you take the train! Yay Little Free Library!

This is the Little Free Library in my neighborhood. I was actually going to another one that is…read moredown the street when I stumbled upon this one. I actually found out that the one I'd intended to go to isn't an official LFL and has annoying rules, so I'm pleased this one is here. It's an active one, too. As you can see in the photos there are lots of books in it, if all different genres, which is just the way a LFL should be. It's located about halfway between Lawrence and Ainslie and is located on the west side of the street.

Free to all and always well stocked! Currently contains children's DVDs like Finding Nemo and The Incredibles, plus new coloring books, and books for both children and adults, often on many languages! Turns over quickly as it is located on a busy road!! Set on a large, beautiful, hand-made mosaic tile, and surrounded by colorful rocks, shells, and plants. Stand on the mosaic to pick out your book. Or leave a book. Easily accessible from Ridgeland Avenue, right on the sidewalk. Or park in front of the house and have a look. All free, all the time!! I spotted this beautiful blue library box as I was driving through Madison and had to stop. As far…read moreas I can tell, it is not a part of the Little Free Library system as it is not on their database/map and did not have a charter number posted. The box is pained sky blue with trees painted on the sides. There is a single door with a handle.
