After three weeks of excuses and messes I made the decision to cut all ties with Little Guy Construction. We hired them to pour a new sidewalk leading up to our new pool. He decided to use bags of concrete and a concrete mixer instead of bringing in a truck. It was an absolute mess. They would work for an hour or so a day if they showed up. The day that they poured the owner had a tantrum and crumpled up the whole thing and left it in a bigger mess than it should have been. This was the Thursday before Labor Day weekend. After we notified him that he was done and that we would be finding another concrete company he offered to get a concrete truck. This was too late. DO NOT HIRE THIS CONTRACTOR!! Be warned, he is a thief who takes advantage of people who don't know any better. He demands to be "paid up front " which is an extremely POOR business practice. His work is the worst I've ever seen in the industry. He recently completed a project for my mother, and the man refuses to return to correct issues that failed the city's inspection because they were done incorrectly. This man "KEN" should not call himself professional. He lacks every part of the word professional, from his business practices, lack of follow through, and quality of work. Do yourself a favor, do not even consider calling for a bid. Just so I can credit my review.... I've been a quality,qualified contractor and custom builder for 30 years. I know quality when I see it. Unfortunately my mother didn't want to bother me to ask for a quality contractor, so she went looking on her own to find one. Now she's learning the hard way!!! ALWAYS!! Check for references and visit previous jobs to gain info on a contractor before making a decision. Unfortunately another hard lesson people learn is, cheapest guy isn't always best. "You pay peanuts, you get monkeys!" I hope anyone considering hire this guy will take this seriously. This is true reality, he is not a quality, or honest business man. read more

I have had Little Guy Construction tackle several concrete projects at my home. Starting with my sidewalk, stoop, concrete slab, and even did a trench for my electric and gas lines for my pool. This work has been done over the years and still looks great! My side walk even has an artistic touch to it ... Little Guy Construction is not only professional but they do quality work and care about their customers...i have been a long time customer and will continue to do so. read more

I wouldn't recommend this company to my worse enemy. Called to get a inperson quote for a patio job that would cost between 5k-7k. The person that I spoke to gave me over the phone quotes. When I asked for a inperson quote I got this reply "If you're looking for the best deal then we all have better things to do". Worse customer service ever. For a job of this size I expected to have some one come out, answer some questions, give me some advice. Not these guys. Don't know how the company even exists. read more

I regretfully hired Little Guy Construction Co to remove and replace an existing concrete driveway and sidewalk in Elgin Illinois. The job called for the new concrete drive to be expanded to a width not to exceed 18 ft. It included the removal and replacement of a single concrete step. The owner's of the home (my son and daughter-inlaw) and I could not be more disappointed in the performance of this company, Little Guy Construction. I observed first hand on the day of the "pour" that this job was clearly headed in the wrong direction with lots of yelling, overflowing wheelbarrows and concrete splashed all over new garage door. The concrete pour was very stiff and lacked enough water so the concrete could not be finished properly. The new concrete within 12 inches of the garage floor was poured higher then the garage floor and fails to divert water away from the garage. The expansion joint at the garage floor and new driveway was improperly installed 1 inch above the garage floor. Expansion joints were saw cut into side walk and driveway. The finish of the concrete for both the drive and sidewalk is very disappointing and looks nothing like any other concrete work I have seen. I agreed to the terms of 50% down on 1st day on the job and balance paid on "pour" day. I regret that I did not hold back $$$. Little Guy Construction fails to admit to the damage incurred to the concrete splashed and drying on garage door. The company goes so far as to suggest that "DNA" be used to test if it is their concrete. Yes, sadly, that is what I'm dealing with. In fairness, chemicals were given to me to use in an attempt to remove the concrete from the door. After several attempts / hours of my own time, I was unable to get all the concrete off.
