We had takeaways from here tonight and were pleased with our meal. Because we got the food to go, I can't comment on anything within the restaurant - just the food and the price. Oh, and the friendly, helpful person while we did our order. He was a great first impression The menu is limited due to COVID. There were five dishes on offer - vegetarian, two meat dishes and two seafood choices. Each choice came with rice and veggies. The food was really good although the naan was just okay (but could be a covid thing) The person eating the vegetarian thought it was good but not outstanding HOWEVER the lamb korma, butter chicken and the curried salmon were all OUTSTANDING. The portions were large and we could have got by with three orders (but are happy to have leftovers). And considering the size of the portions, we found the price to be really reasonable. We look forward to ordering from there again and we certainly look forward to being able to go and enjoy a meal in the restaurant. We would recommend. read more

Amazing food. Excellent service. I visited this restaurant as I was stuck in Powell River for the night. I was hoping they had vegan options until I read "our food is not vegan". This scared me at first and almost made me walk out (would have been a huge mistake!). However, the owner(?) was very accommodating and made a sampler of vegan dishes. It was the best vegan Indian food I've had in BC. The food was not too salty like most places and you can taste all the ingredients/spices that went into each dish. I find that other places just load their dishes with too much cumin and turmeric. I almost wish I was stuck for another day so I can go here again! read more

One of Powell River's best kept secrets! Specializing in North Indian/Kashmiri cuisine the Little Hut Curry is tucked away along Downtown Marine Avenue. The owners/hosts Mohinder and Janmeet are extremely helpful with explaining the Indian cuisine while welcoming you as if you were a guest in their home. The food is wonderful! The little hut curry is not just a sit down restaurant, but a cultural experience, and without even asking they provide you with a chance to taste new foods and flavours, by proving a small curry shot and salad with every dish. I was in Powell River recently and gave this restaurant a try because of the good Tripadvisor and Urbanspoon reviews. Food 2/5: I had the lamb kofta ($16), as several people noted on noted this to be a wonderful dish. It was all right. Four pieces of kofta in a moderately spicy sauce. They lamb was rather bland though. Pappadum was greasy. Naans are storebought and not made in house (says so on the menu), so no point in ordering them. I also ordered the gulab jamin with ice cream for dessert. The gulab jamin was fine, but I was quite surprised that it was accompanied with strawberry ice cream. A good quality vanilla would have been a better coice. Value 2/5: Portions on the smaller side for sure. The curry shooter is a single raisin, single pistachio, a teaspoon of sauce on a Tostidos chip. Expect about a tablespoon of raita. Service 4/5: Friendly and prompt service. No complaints. Ambiance 3/5: Restaurant is in a converted house so there were a few little rooms each with a few tables. Local artists and their works featured on the walls. Nice patio outside. Took my dad here as he is a local and had not tried it yet. The service is very hospitable and the atmosphere was excellent. Very cozy place at night, I only wish it has been light out so we could take advantage of the ocean view. The food was very fresh and tasty. I loved the Curry Hut from the minute I walked in, and I can't wait to go back! As soon as you walk in the door there is an open kitchen that is homey and beautiful (and clean) . The owners are a super nice couple, and the food is just wonderful. How did we get so lucky? The prices are good too. I guess the only disappointment was that the naan seems to be store bought rather than freshly made. But I loved my curry, and butter chicken, and the paneer was so wonderful and fresh. What an unexpected treat in Powell River! The other night we had a fantastic dining experience at Little Hut Curry. With just a small lit up menu visible from the street the Little Hut Curry restaurant was a pleasant treat indeed. We were greeted at the door by the owner who welcomed us not to his restaurant but to his home. The husband and wife team work diligently to offer home cooked meals (including all of his house made sauces), inspired by his home town of Kashmir. It was nearly a full house so we were lucky to get a seat on one of their Saturday night set menu 4 course meal specials. "We use the winter to try out new things and expand our menu", he said "we go through all the seasons." We started off with a locally brewed beer and an appetizer sampler that included his custom "curry shots" and home made pakoras followed by a rainbow coloured salad, a beautifully presented four part main course and finally delicious saffron tea and home made dessert. The owner, our host for the evening, rushed around diligently taking care of all of the tables while offering small anecdotes to his personal photographs of India that streamed on the screen above the fireplace. He was polite, courteous and attentive and of course credit cannot be overlooked to his lovely wife who successfully fed a house full of guests from their four burner kitchen. She was much quieter than her outgoing husband but certainly appreciated our greetings and appreciation when offered. This spot cannot be missed if you are in Powell River. The Saturday night specials in particular offer a warm welcoming spot with personalization and home cooked food made with love. What more could you ask for! read more

We had a great experience. We were able to call the owner's cell phone 5 hours before the restaurant was open and make a reservation. When we got to there we were greeted by the owners and shown around the restaurant. He explained how they arrived in Powell River and he was a pleasure to talk to.
