Hello my name is Michael. J and I was very VERY! DISAPPOINTED in my experience at royal zayka. I was recommended this restaurant through a friend that said it was a great restaurant. HOW EVER I have a few reasons to think otherwise. First, already had to wait like an hour and a half for my food. Even though all the tables were empty. (About the food) The curry that I was recommended was cold, with raw chunks of chicken and something brown in it, my butter chicken we SPECIFICALLY order with mild spice was burning hot to the point where i chocked on the food and threw up in my mouth. I found pistachio in my brother's curry, when we specifically asked for it without due to the fact that he is deadly allergic to it, (thankfully we were carrying an epi pen). Second of all there was this little annoying little tub butter who appeared to be around the age of 13 wearing a spiderman mask. He was borderline harassing me, my brothers, and wife(especially my wife). He then threatened to tell the owner on me saying it was his father. The nan bread was amazing however it was absolutely delicious. And the mango ice cream was a bit too creamy I really feel my experience was similar to landon and Dutch. Will not be coming back. UNTIL THESE PROBLEMS ARE FIXED. Please do better I right this review from the bottom of my heart and all that I say is to improve your restaurant. So close to a full five, but a dry chicken leg was the only fault we could find in this very flavourful eatery. We got there with 30 minutes left in the Sunday buffet, but that was not our goal. The place was fairly full, but you could tell they were there for the buffet. I checked out the food in the warmers and it looked pretty good. We were sat quickly, our waters dropped promptly in cool copper and stainless glasses. The menu is fairly extensive but we had already decided on the meat dinner special for two as it provided a good variety of their offerings. We ordered some wine, and the food came out very quickly. It looked great, with the exception of the aforementioned chicken leg, which tasted great but was obviously cooked to death. The balance of the meal was really great and plentiful. The Chicken curry and Lamb curry were good and I am not a lamb guy. It was a solid hit, and a good way to experience the cuisine. The decor could use some work, it's fairly spartan, and the white rectangle painted on the wall for the projector doesn't help. You clearly don't go for the ambiance, but it's a solid 4+. We'd certainly go again. read more

well I am sincerely disappointed for the second time Royal Zayka! I thought perhaps last times let down was due to your expansion in business. but you have had ample time to have settle in. but yet again my butter chicken orders were sub par. Nothing but dark meat and you shorted me one order of butter chicken! And the rice! what was that? Was that yesterday's leftovers reheated? dry tasteless slightly crunchy, and my Raita, was that the bottom of the bucket ? There was absolutely no cucumber shredded or otherwise! Super disappointed ! Definitely not worth the $100+ I will not be recommending nor will I be returning. I can put together much better at home using store bought curry from a jar. We first heard about this spot from the manager of the Old Courthouse Inn (across the street). He said that he thought they had the best Indian food on the entire Sunshine Coast. Whoa. We went out to Lund with the intention of a waterfront dinner, but almost everything was closed. We found ourselves back in PR shortly looking to fill our bellies. Between the reviews here, his recommendation, and the available outdoor seating on such a glorious night it seemed like our spot. We were NOT disappointed. Really, REALLY good food. We ordered 2 of the meat dinner specials to share between 2 adults and 2 kids- that was perfect. It came pretty quickly and the staff were kind, attentive. First off--our food was delicious. Sadly, we starved on our order. We ordered chicken tikka $16 and lamb tikka $17. Only 8-9 pieces of meat each and a small container of sauce. I did order naan bread but had to cook rice to make it a meal. The restaurant did reply to my complaint to let us know this was a standard serving. Food was excellent. Menu has a great variety of options without being overwhelming. We thought their spiciness scale was very fair. Went for a 2 out of 6, it was flavorful without much kick, so we could have gone for 3 or 4 but we're playing it safe. We stopped in for some take away, and service was good. Our return visit to Royal Zayka didn't measure up to our first visit a couple of years ago. This time around, it was take-out after a campsite setup at Willingdon Beach. The veggie pakoras, garlic naan, and papadams were really good; the palak paneer and vegetable biryani were good; however, the tandori chicken was cooked beyond redemption for this tandori lover. Townsite Brewing is on tap, a bonus if you're dining in. The prices are average, but perhaps either new owners or the restaurant's expansion into a couple of other locations has impacted the overall quality we experienced two years ago after it first opened. read more

Grate food especially if you are in need of some comfort food and if you got the sniffles there delicious chicken soup will put pep back in your step. The cheeses nan bread is amazing my hole family loves it and most of the them are very picky eaters. Also very friendly staff read more

Amazing food. Helpful staff. Each time I visit Powell River I eat here as the preparation of the food is so well done. You can request spice level from 1 to 5, 1 being very mild, 5 being HOT. Every single dish I've had there has been exquisite. read more

We stumbled uphill after a couple tasters at Townsite brewery. The restaurant had a buffet available at the time, which was tempting and a pretty good deal at $18. But our waitress told us the spice level was mild, and we're spice fans so we ordered our standbys off the menu - butter chicken and palak paneer. We also had the paneer pakoras. The curries were all gluten free, which was nice to have noted on the menu, and other allergy items were noted on the menu. And the food was amazing! We were both tempted to lick the plates. And, since we'd visited townsite beforehand, I knew which delicious beer to order. A++, would eat again. read more

When moving to Powell River from Surrey we thought we would be leaving great Indian cuisine behind. So glad that we were wrong. We went for their buffet on a Monday night and it was incredible.
