We were looking for a departure from Fish and Chips and saw this place recommended. Nice location with cute little tables indoors and also outdoor seating (weather permitting). Maybe stereotypical decor but ... it grows on you. Service was super fast and friendly. The Bruschetta was amazing as were the meatballs. My wife and I both got pasta dishes and both were excellent. Might sound like an Italian restaurant but the decor actually suggests it is a New York Italian themed restaurant; the walls are covered in Godfather, Scarface, and assorted mafia paraphernalia. Wonderful small Italian restaurant with great food! 5 of us loved our meals. Meatball appetizer was incredible - it came with 3 medium sized meatballs and tons of delicious sauce. We were looking for good Italian food in Inverness and came upon this restaurant and it did not disappoint. Our group of four was able to walk in and get a table. The owner told us they had just reopened after being closed for 3 months. We all had bruschetta and side salads ( which were large enough to share). We had four different entrees and all agreed the food was fabulous. My wife and I split a bottle of the Chianti, our friends had the house red, both were very drinkable. Service was good, our waitress said she loved working there because the food was great. The restaurant is not large so reservations are suggested. This place has amazing Italian food! Who would have expected to have found great Italian food in Scotland? We tried it the 1st night we were in Inverness & decided we had to go back again before we left even though we were only there for 3 days. It is a cozy little restaurant that doesn't seat many people which is probably why the other reviews recommend making reservations. We were lucky enough to be there early in the season & were able to get in both times without a reservation but I would definitely recommend calling before you go to make sure you can get in. If they have a large party, which they did the 2nd time we went it takes up a lot of the space they have. I had the Chicken Marsala both times. Yes it was that good! The mixed vegetables were made to perfection with an amazing butter sauce. My husband had the vegetarian ravioli the 1st time & lasagna the 2nd time. He also had a house salad both times. He also raved about his choices. Be sure to give it a try if you like Italian food when you're in Inverness. You won't be disappointed! read more

Let me explain one thing: I don't usually like meatballs. I can't think when I've ordered them at a restaurant. Ever. I make them because otherwise I find them greasy or crumby or too charred and dry. But on a complete whim I ordered the orecchiette with meatballs and spicy tomato sauce. But first! My husband and I spent a night in Inverness and since he did all the driving up from Glasgow, when he said pizza, I said fine. We found Little Italy, a teeny restaurant with classic Chianti bottle candles and random "Italian" movie posters on the walls. The menu is big enough, with specials too, and they do say you can ask for a pasta dish of your own making. My husband ordered the antipasto platter and the Lucia pizza (onion, olives, and feta) and I ordered bruschetta and ... orecchiette with meatballs. The starters would have made an excellent lunch on their own. Not huge, but simple and tasty. The meats on the antipasto were fresh. The balsamic on the bruschetta just perfect. The pizza was very good; he liked the balance of everything. And the meatballs in my pasta were, simply, the best I've ever had. They were perfectly cooked, perfectly seasoned, with enough weight to make them hearty. I wish I would've skipped the bruschetta so I could've finished them. I have a feeling I will regret leaving one on my plate for a long time. Go here. Order the meatballs. read more

Arrived in Inverness totally starving. Our hotel suggested this charming quaint very small Italian restaurant near the shopping mall on the way to the river. We were skeptical at first, but once we tasted their food we were quite happy. The basic Italian table wine is sold by the glass, Half liter or liter. The red from montepulciano Was OK, not great. We had two starters, the swordfish ravioli was a special of the day and it was phenomenal. The calamari was very average. Next we had two pastas. The seafood al mare pasta was filled with fresh seafood and it's sauce was light and delicate allowing only the best flavors to shine through....My favorite pasta we had this evening. The Second pasta was a zucchini and pesto Pappardelle combination of which I added chicken to. It was in more of a light cream sauce but not as interesting as the seafood pasta. The pasta btw was perfectly al dente. Service was efficient. It's a tiny place and it's fun. Would recommend it when in Inverness . read more

Excellent little Italian restaurant up the hill from Eastgate center mall. It's a small restaurant, so reservations may be necessary when it's busy. The menu is long, with typical and unusual Italian dishes for every course. The seafood bucatini was excellent; the smoked mussels were unusual. The peppercorn sauce on the steak was lovely and made me wish for bread to clean the plate. The only downside is I'm not sure why they asked how I wanted my steak cooked -- I got a well done steak regardless of what I wanted. read more

My wife and I walked by this restaurant during our visit to Inverness earlier this month. It looked adorable and the menu was strong, so we planned on going for dinner that night. Unfortunately that evening, our 4 month old daughter was very fussy, and my wife wasn't feeling well, so instead of going we ordered takeaway from Little Italy. I normally wouldn't leave a yelp review, but our experience was so great I felt I had to leave them a review. First - the food. Fantastic. FANTASTIC. This restaurant is run by an Italian family, and you can tell the food is authentic and lovingly prepared. Both of our pasta dishes were wonderful - among the best food we had in the UK. But the main thing - when I was picking up for takeaway, I asked casually if they had plastic/throwaway utensils we could use for eating the dinner. They did not, but immediately insisted I take their nice metal cutlery. I tried to decline, and said we would be fine, but the host absolutely insisted, and sent us away with two forks to use for our dinner. This act of kindness made a huge impression on me, a positive impression only reinforced by the cute, intimate atmosphere of the restaurant and the fantastic Italian food. I recommend Little Italy to anyone looking for good Italian food in Inverness. read more

Hands down, one of the best Italian meals we have ever had!!! We started with the most lovely bruschetta - fresh tomatoes, sweet balsamic bu egrets on light toast. The gnocchi and bolognese sauce was fantastic - perfectly cooked, not heavy at all. Hubby had the linguine gambrioni and felt the same - prawns cooked perfectly, paired with a light delicious sauce. Then there was dessert - I had the tiramisu- light, fluffy, awesome. Hubby had the coppa rossa which he said (and I quote) "I could eat this all day, every day forever." The restaurant is small so reservations are highly recommended; and the wait staff here is so friendly!!! Never would have expected this little restaurant in Inverness would serve up the most delicious authentic Italian dinner - thank you Little Italy for making our trip! Andrea makes a hot chile infused oil and sprinkled a little over my dish. It was insanely good and very hot! It takes him a week to make. Ask him for a small drizzle to kick up your pasta! We shared the spicy prawns and mushrooms with blue cheese appetizer starters and both were delicious. My husbands risotto carne and my chicken with mushrooms in cream sauce were equally as good. There were 4 diners and each of us had a different meal each of which was excellent. Love this little Restaurant, Its my husband and my favourite place to go on a special occasion. We went for dinner on our 5th anniversary. The staff here are lovely!. Its a small cosy place so it is intimate. It has a wide menu and is has good prices. The food tastes GREAT!. we usually get the meatball pizza which I highly recommend, the restaurant is beautifully decorated with an old style Italian feel to it.
