We called in early March for availability for our infant and were told the soonest was May which worked perfectly with our timeline. We came in to tour and then coordinated a day to come in before our infants first day. We came in to do our orientation a week prior to the first day and Yaya seemed very confused when we came in and told us she "couldn't remember" what room our infant was placed into.. We were shown the classroom she would be in and were introduced to the teachers. We were told that she would have a cubby for all her items; however, on the first day of drop off she did not have a cubby or an area for her items. Not to mention I did not even recognize the teachers who were in the classroom with her. When I went to look for the items I dropped off, I found them items on the floor in a storage closet while other infants had their items neatly set up and put away. When we confronted the center they claimed "a label" is not a reflection of the care our child will receive and the excuse was "Erica" has been out for a week and they didn't know where our infant's stuff was so they couldn't set up her items properly. They had plenty of notice to prepare for our infant advance. It may just be a label but what it shows me they are unorganized, lack basic communication skills amongst their employees and if they can't properly store her necessities, they lack the ability to they take care of my child, it is 100% a reflection of the care my child will receive.

The staff and teachers are so wonderful and caring with my little one and the kids currently enrolled there. She is totally getting the developmental attention she needs. She gets to do arts and crafts, gets outside time, and has plenty of interaction with kids and adults. The teachers keep all your suggestions and comments in mind and will update you with information you would want to know (I want to know everything ;-) about my baby! haha). Since we both work it was important to find people we could rely on. So happy our baby is with trusting people and I would recommend LHLC to all parents!

I went to the school to check and the lady at the front office was kind of kicking me out of the school saying: if you didn't receive a phone call from us this mean that there is no spot for her. I asked her to check for my daughter's name and she kept repeating the same sentence loudly in the most rude way without even bother herself to check the name list. I really wonder how those people are supposed to teach kids manners and good behavior?

My child attended Enchanted Castle for two days in January of 2021, for about 4 hours each day. The…read morefirst day seemed to go okay, though I was concerned when the main teacher of my child's room stopped mid sentence to yell at a different child across the room. I set it aside since it was to have the child remove something from their mouth and I figured that was better than choking. When I arrived to pickup up my child he was happy and didn't want to leave. The second day when I arrived to pickup my child he wanted to leave immediately, he was even distressed when I stopped to grab his lunch and water bottle. As soon as we arrived home he began to grab the front of his diaper and say "ouch, ouch, ouch." This is something he had never done before, he had never even said "ouch" before. When I changed his diaper I discovered that his genitals and the area immediately surrounding them were red and inflamed. Upon further inspection the skin from the body of the penis was torn away from the glans. Again, something that has never happened before with my child. I immediately documented the incident, called the facility to report the incident and that my child would not be returning. The director apologized and said they would speak with the teachers in that room. I received an email later that evening that the teachers reported that his last diaper change (20 mins before I picked him up) was wet and everything was normal. Nothing else. I picked up his items later that week and there was no acknowledgment of the incident. I asked several friends who have boys if they had ever had anything similar happen with their kids; none, not a single one had ever had this issue. They were all shocked to hear of such an incident. The only thing they could think of was either long nails or jewelry snagging the skin of his penis while changing him or being overly rough while changing him. I am not a person who wears long nails or jewelry, so this is not something I thought of. My child is very active, has run around the house naked playing and climbing, and has never ever injured his genitals doing so. Regardless, either the teachers providing care to these 2 year olds don't know what normal is or they (and/or the director) lied about any incident occurring. I'm so glad I removed my child from the facility when I did, earlier this summer I received notification that a teacher in the 2 year old room was reported to social services for mishandling a child. Do not leave your child here. The anxiety of trying to find another childcare facility to trust has been an utter nightmare since our experience here.

They do care about the kids and are very attentive to their emotional and academic needs. One thing that is amazing as well is that it's a small school so the staff knows pretty much all of the children. Ms. Angie and Mrs. Baeckel greet each kid by name and their families during drop offs and pick ups every single day- rain or shine. We really appreciate the extra care and attention because you know they're safe having two pairs of watchful eyes to see who comes in and out of the property. My son also is learning so well. His reading I think is advanced and they teach them how to write in cursive at a young age too. He's made lots of friends and even the parents know each other and are connected as well. I don't think you will get that in a big/public school. We are happy that we enrolled our child here. We will stay for a while.

We did a lot of research before deciding where to begin kindergarten, and toured several schools, hoping to find one that stood out above the rest. The King's Academy is it. I can't imagine a better place for an excellent Christian education in the Reno/Sparks area. The staff are wonderful. The teachers are so amazing, experienced, loving, compassionate, and we really can feel how much they truly care for our son. He is having the most wonderful experience. I can honestly say that since my son began attending The King's Academy, he has come into his own genuine, authentic faith. He loves God, he knows God better, he asks so many great questions. Best of all, he tells me all the time now "I love you so much Mom, but I love God more." It is such a comforting feeling to have the utmost confidence in both the quality of the academics, as well as the spiritual environment of the school. We love the smaller class sizes and greater level of attention that the teachers are able to pay to each student, and therefore their enhanced ability to tailor the education to each child's unique needs. I attend chapel every week (parents and families are always welcome to join the students there) and absolutely love it! I love seeing the children having a great time and also receiving such quality, Christ-centered Biblical teaching. It's wonderful. There have been so many times that, unprompted, my son will ask me "Mom, can I please keep going to King's Academy all the way to 8th grade? I love it there!" What more could you want to hear from your child? We cannot recommend The King's Academy enough, it is one of the best decisions we've ever made for our children.

Between both of my kids, they have gone there for over 6 years. The owners and staff have been amazing. Life changed and they adapted to the changes with no questions asked; all they said was "anything you need, communicate." She got into a bad accident last year visiting her family, and my children cried, they wanted to make sure Ms. Tima was okay. WE are SO blessed she is still here with us today. She would blame the other kids for his behavior. I met one of the former teachers outside of the daycare and she explained to me that she quit her job there over that precise problem and she confirmed that the kid bullied my son as she witnessed. When I asked that the bully be kept away from my child they put my child (5 yrs. at the time) in with the babies, cutting off all his ability to play with his peers. I also had the opportunity to meet and talk with the woman who trains these teachers. She had a talk with my son about school then she came to me telling me she wanted him out of that school because they were failing him. She explained that they are good with babies but unacceptable with kids once they were no longer babies. I agree completely.

Our youngest will be starting at their Lavender Door school this fall (ages 1+), and we're really excited for her to have the same experience. We love the mixed-age classrooms. They're so great for learning and social development. The rotational schedule is one of our favorite parts too. The kids get to move between rooms and try different activities, and my daughter's "favorite" room changes all the time because she has fun in all of them. It really is a fantastic preschool! We've seen so much growth in our daughter, and the teachers and staff are always so kind and welcoming. We're so glad we found this school!

I absolutely do not recommend Blue Kangaroo in South Reno. I was in a tough spot due to some…read morechanges in our family and needed urgent childcare. Most places had long waiting lists, but surprisingly, Blue Kangaroo had openings for my 16-month-old son. Looking back, that should've been a red flag. All the other places I called were full, and this one had space--definitely not a good sign. I went for a tour last Thursday, and while the place seemed clean and organized, that first impression didn't last long. On Friday, I took my son to meet the teacher before we left town for the weekend. I thought it was important for him to get familiar with the place. The lead teacher, A, in Hopper classroom wasn't exactly warm, but I figured she was just busy--she has four children. I convinced myself that since she's a mom of four, she must know how to handle little ones. Boy, was I wrong. I'm really thankful they have cameras, so I could check in on my son throughout the day. He's shy and usually takes a while to warm up, but the first morning, he was just standing there, looking confused, observing everything. After his nap, things went downhill. He was crying for most of the afternoon, and the worst part? A didn't make any effort to comfort him. I called, and they transferred me to the classroom so I could talk to him. He doesn't speak much yet, but he understands a lot. The assistant, L, picked him up a couple of times, but mostly, she was busy playing with the other kids who'd been there longer and weren't crying. That was my first big disappointment--no one seemed to care about how he was feeling in this new, overwhelming environment. When I picked him up that day, his eyes were puffy from crying, and he had boogers all over his face. I asked A if he had a rough day, and she shrugged and replied, "There are a lot of crazy kids here!" That was a huge red flag for me. How can you work with kids and not have more empathy for a child who's clearly struggling? And she was not lying about how much food my son ate. She said he finished everything. My son is learning how to eat by himself. I packed extra food for him just in case, there was no way he finished all of his food. And when he got home, he drank 18 oz of milk, normally, he drinks 8 oz. It is absolutely okay that my son didn't finish his food. My older son brings leftover from school all the time. You don't have to lie about it. The second day was even worse. My son cried almost all day, except when he was napping or maybe outside (I couldn't see what was happening outside). I'm not exaggerating when I say he was crying for hours. I called again, and once more, L picked him up briefly, but then just put him down to clean up toys. I even asked at the front desk if I could go see him during lunch to comfort him, and they said yes. When I went in, A looked completely shocked and a little offended that I was there. When I left, the front desk stopped me and said they wanted to schedule a conference with me. All afternoon, I watched through the camera as my son cried, and no one seemed to care. There were times when there were three women in the room, yet no one made an effort to give my son the extra attention he needed, especially considering he was the youngest and new to daycare. When I picked him up, he was still crying, and L was once again playing with other kids who weren't upset. I tried to explain that it was his first time in daycare and both of us were adjusting, but L said he didn't want me to hold him, he was just crying. That was total BS. I was watching the cameras all day, and they didn't even try to comfort him. I pulled him out right away and sent him to a babysitter, one of my coworkers who sent her daughter to. He was doing great, not even crying once even though he doesn't speak Spanish at all. I went in to take my son's belongings and talked to the management team. I was offered the option to move my son to a younger classroom instead of the Hopper room, but I refused. I wasn't going to risk him being treated like that again. I can't trust a place where the staff ignore a child's emotional needs, especially a child who's brand new to daycare. I'm writing this long review in the hope that management will pay attention to these issues and hire teachers (at least for the Hopper room)who actually love working with kids. After pulling my son out, I checked Yelp and noticed that they have a 3.3-star rating overall, and a lot of the 5-star reviews look fake. I really hope this review helps other parents avoid the same mistake and find a place that actually cares about kids. It was just such a heartbreaking experience I don't want other parents and their children to experience. I just speak for myself in the Hopper room experience not other teachers in other rooms.
