There is a nice playground for kids and in the ramada, some information about the ducks you can see on the lake. Some of the ducks were close to shore so we were able to see them up close. It was a nice spot to stop and with good information.

Going back to the car afterwards is a bit more challenging though because elevation. At the end, you can climb down to get closer, but it's a bit too technical for the kids. The drive there is interesting with lots of windy roads. Make sure you route your trip on GPS there and back while you have signal. I lost all signal up there.

You'll see little chipmunks, a banana slug or two, streams, ferns, and beautiful unspoiled nature that Oregon is known for. The suspension bridge is cool to walk on, and not too scary (unless someone is rocking it!) and the waterfall is breathtaking. It's not super crowded but you'll encounter people along the way and back. On the weekends parking is a bit harder to come by at the lot, but I waited for a bit and got a spot. You can pay en route to the trailhead at a spot with a QR code ($5 for the day pass) where there's some reception. There's also one at the trailhead but not sure of reception there.

Nos. 2-7 meander out and into the humid park air. No. 1 returns, and No. 2 heads for the Bucket. Then No. 3. Nos. 4-7 stare at each other with icky faces, and when all have returned with Purelled hands, we stand in a circle next to one of the cars. Quiet. Awkward. We jump from face to face and then stare at our shoes. The other car, with its door open, and we listen to Stevie Nicks. A tan and perky lady walks by...she's inevitably going to share the germ-invested fate of 1-3. "How's the Honey Bucket?" she asks, and laughs. "Well," says No. 4, "it's always better with Fleetwood Mac."

This is one if the coolest free city parks ever! There are a few different areas of the playground…read morewith a really tall play structure for older kids, and small play structures for littlest kids. There's also a climbing wall, zip line kinda thing, and a really big sand lot with a volcano-kinda thing in the middle that is deceptively difficult to walk up because the sand makes it slippery! PLUS there's a splash pad water fountain wet area! That part is not open year round. I mean it's open, but the fountains aren't running in the winter. All this is surrounded by covered picnic tables, very large grassy areas, walking paths covered by trees. Car parking. Bicycle parking. Clean bathrooms. Friendly clientele. We entered from the east side of the park where there is pedestrian access. On the west side of the park near the vehicle entrance, there is a skate park! And 4 half basketball courts, plus a boulder, I guess for bouldering.

I found it gets the zoomies out of them and that makes for a quiet night, most times. Sometimes you have a small group of littles and they somehow are fueled by the laughter of other kids and seem to possess unlimited energy. We camp closest to the beach. There is no shade there. We bring our own but at night, the stars are like street lights. It's beautiful. The moon at times feels like you could grab it. The ocean will put you to sleep like a Dr.s prescription. It's amazing. All the bathrooms get used a lot because of the amount of people who stay here but they are constantly being cleaned. The showers are a little strange to me but good. Don't try to park an extra vehicle on your spot even if only unloading. The parking is terrible BUT way down the road, on the "Day Use Area" is plenty of parking. Ya, we all hate parking in the D.U.A. They hold cultural events in the D.U.A. We've seen some awesome Native American dancers. They looked super cool. The beach access is at either end of the dune. The beach is clean and the waves aren't that vicious. The shore is nice and shallow. Low tide brings a whole different look to the area with smooth rock surfaces and cobblestones. Of course the ocean is always awesome.

Perfect place to get out and stretch your legs. Clean restrooms with flush toilets available off…read morethe parking lot. Great beach access and not as busy as the beach access in Cape Kiwanda. When we were there we only saw one family when we arrived and two families as we were leaving. Makes for a lot of room to let your dog run on the beach without bothering anyone. A family was flying a kite while we were there too...made us wish we would have bought one. It was the perfect weather for it!

On the coast side of the point is a surf break and about a dozen surfers on longboards. All in thin wetsuits. Beautiful sunny afternoon.
