Our infant went to jump for joy for about 2.5 months. I'll start off by saying that I think the…read moreowner means well. However from the week that he started, we were constantly greeted with new complaints at pick up. He was close to 4 mos when starting with them and the complaints were that his naps weren't long enough - he had to be held, he was spitting up and that he couldn't play independently for longer than 5 mins. As first time parents, we would hear these things, get anxious and then check in with our pediatrician and each time we were told that this is normal infant behavior. Then one Friday we received a message from the owner "Your son has been unable to self soothe all day requiring one caregivers attention. There are 7 today. I am uncomfortable with him screaming the majority of the day. He will need to be picked up today please". When picked up, we were told that there would be a 2 week trial period to see if things improved. I want to note that our child is not colicky, does not excessively spit up and is not what would be described a high needs infant. He's a pretty chill, sweet, easy going baby. Even then, we understood that perhaps he was more difficult at daycare away from home, but our issue was with the poor communication and constant guilt we were made to feel. As first time parents, a more empathetic and compassionate response would have been appreciated - reaching out to us and suggesting a meeting to go over some tips, or literally just some kind, encouraging words! vs. the constant complaints and then an ultimatum at pickup. There was another situation where he had a pretty fresh, red cut on his eyelid at pickup. When asking about it, we were immediately told that he was dropped off like that, which was not true. Again, a convo about it and some compassion would have been appreciated. All this to say, if you're thinking of enrolling an infant be sure that they can 1. nap for long periods of time (which will be in a pack and play in the same space as the infant play area), 2. they don't spit up and 3. they can play independently for 10+mins at a time. We would have saved ourselves so much stress and anxiety by looking elsewhere.

The other kids would come up to me during pick up time and tell me how he's been "bad all day." He was placed in a class room where I was told "five minutes of reading or dancing at the carpet" was age appropriate for circle time. Then he moved up to a classroom where he'd be expected to sometimes sit at the table with no toys or activities for 15-20mins while teachers put away cots. Of course he's going to struggle and not control himself as well as the 4-4.5 year olds. He's a fresh three year old coming from a room with no established routine.
