We recently relocated to Seattle or we'd still have our son (4 years old) there and soon enough our daughter (2 years old). The facilities were more than adequate and convenient for us. I was particularly impressed with the Montessori Method with specific materials used throughout the classroom. The simplicity and layout of the classroom allowed my son to really expand his capacity to concentrate and focus on a task. By the end of the school year he was up to a span of 45+ minutes on a specific activity, on his own accord. For a 4 year old I think that is quite impressive. My son really enjoyed his time at school and still misses the good friends he made. We were thrilled with the dual language aspect as well. With our world becoming smaller and smaller its important to us to introduce other languages and respective cultures to our children. Our primary language at home is English and I wasn't expecting my son to speak Chinese as much as recognize the sounds. I was quite surprised when he was excited to share with me that he could count to 10 in Chinese one day. I was impressed to find out as well how Chinese is one of the few languages that require use of both the right and left brain. I especially appreciated John and Lilly's (the owners') attention to our son's needs and our needs as parents. The communication between us and John and Lilly was consistent and thorough. We were kept informed of our son's development in academic and social aspects, the school's focus, etc. I really enjoyed getting the monthly updates via email of what the children have enjoyed and learned with video and pictures, along with helpful developmental milestones for us as parents to be aware of. John and Lilly really care about the children and their families first and foremost and it really comes through in the way they run their school.

This was the first place I left my children with someone other then family and the teachers made me feel so confident and calm, they took care of me and much as my child. They are so experienced and can handle anything that arises. You can truly feel safe and comfortable when your children are there that they are cared for and attended too, not just a number. The teachers are approachable, and have wonderful insight on your child, often noticing problems, trends or illness. Communication with parents is ongoing and they quickly become an extension of your own family. I really enjoyed that at pickup, the teachers gave a summary of the day so that you could prompt your child when talking at home about their day at school. Also, at pickup, the teachers are excellent at making sure each child is released one by one to their parent or caregiver. They do not hesitate to check the license of someone that is unfamiliar to them at pickup. Safety is a primary concern at Lollipop tree and I appreciate that! Most importantly, my children loved it at Lollipop Tree. They were so excited and engaged! There is structure and fun in their days there and my children thrived. Their holiday and spring shows are masterfully organized and fun! We also had a wonderful experience with there summer week long camps! Just terrific! You could not ask for a more kind, devoted or loving staff. This is nursery school like you remember it! I am so sad to have my second child graduate this spring, we will always cherish our time at Lollipop Tree. It was a perfect fit for our family!

My son started at the Red House Academy when he was 2 years, 8 months. I wanted to get some more socialization going for him as soon as I could. I was excited to hear that they would start him as a toddler, then transition him to the preschool program at 2 years, 9 months... The official MA preschool age. So, he has been attending for 7 months, 2 mornings a week (right thru the summer). Despite frequent staff changes, I think they are doing a really good job. It is a new business, so I think it's evolving. There is a new director, Kay, she is friendly and outgoing. One of the toddler teachers Jenna was recently promoted to Assistant Director. I like them both very much. My family has had schedule craziness and they've been totally accommodating. The toddler "daycare" teachers seem very competent, clearly love the kids and smile a lot. I personally think that's important, to bring your kids to school to a place where the staff aren't hating life. There is a new preschool teacher, Ms. G. Recently she told us she was fine with it if we wanted to try big boy undies at school. She assured us that she would encourage our son to go every hour. At the end of that first day we had no accidents at school... Because she wasn't afraid of the possibility of having to clean up accidents. I thought that was pretty awesome. In the short time Kay has been the director, there is a private FB page up & running where you can see pictures and videos and get info. Recently added is a link where you can get specific info about your own kid's day. Speaking of privacy & safety, the staff is very much aware of safety issues. Except for pickup and dropoff times the doors are locked. It's a small school so the staff knows who is picking up the kids and who is unusual. They made me sign a form it it was ok to take my son's picture and post on the FB page. They understand that being a parent is hectic and it's easy to forget stuff. I appreciate that they typically give lots of advance notice for anything we are supposed to remember and repeated reminders. Most importantly, my son is happy when I pick him up from school and he is learning. They have a lot of diversity in their day, different activities, crafts, writing, reading, free play time both inside and on the playground. They take little group walks on the back roads behind they school. On hot summer days they can bring swimsuits sometimes and get to go in the sprinkler. I feel like the teachers and staff are working hard to make sure that the kids aren't bored. Also, the school is extremely clean. I would recommend it! But word is getting out, so join fast. Our daughter has been in home care, so I felt this was a good preschool to transition, a more structure setting, but small enough to not be overwhelming. Their schedule and hours are flexible enough to work with my commute to/from Boston daily that also was hugely important. The Director, Ms. Ashita, has been lovely to deal with, her attitude and presence made me feel much more comfortable as a first time mom. Ms. Thelma is very engaging with the children, and seems to work well with them individually based on their personality and needs. Red House thus far has been great, and we look forward to watching our daughter grow and learn new things.

Like most daycare's there is a turnover in staff whether it is the teachers or the directors. We lucked out however and pretty much had teachers that were there long term and were very highly regarded. These teachers became a second mom to my child - they taught her things I never would have dreamed about teaching my child had she been in a home setting. I give them full credit for potty training my child at 25 months. We have had the teachers in my home and they've been invited to birthday parties. A few teachers even took the time to visit my child when she was in Children's Hospital for a week (after they finished their day). No daycare is perfect, don't let them tell you any different. The director we had prior to leaving was Meghan who was wonderful (probably my favorite out of all of them - I think she might have been # 4 over the course of our time there). No matter what daycare you look into or reviews you read there will always be a few with 1 star. Don't let that deter you from visiting this center and checking it out. We all parent differently and have different expectations on what we need or want for our children. My child was loved in this school for a long time - it was a sad day when we left to progress to Kindergarten. I credit the fact that my child is thriving in Kindergarten to her experience at Little Sprouts. Also - give your child time to adjust to a new setting. Children can't and won't adapt overnight. My child cried frequently at drop off for years (master manipulator) I was no sooner in my car driving to work in the mornings and I would get a text from the teacher with a pic of my child smiling. At the end of the day she didn't want to leave! We were at the school alongside many of the same families over the years. I was in contact with a women that goes by the name of Alison in regards to a possible slot at there E.Berkeley location for my child. Upon arrival, I was approached by a Caucasian women who was very welcoming then followed by an African American women who was very cold with her approach, was not very welcoming, did not acknowledge my child. I felt very uncomfortable for not myself but my child. Her demeanor was very unapproachable. Despite the image portrayed in marketing materials and on review sites, I found very little sense of genuine family community and very poor academics. There appeared to be significant cliques, gossip, and social divisions among both parents and staff. I also observed what seemed to be political alliances among teachers and administrators, which contributed to an uncomfortable environment. Academically, I was disappointed with what was delivered for the tuition cost. My child learned significantly less in kindergarten than my other child has learned at their current school during the same timeframe. For the amount families invest, I expected a much stronger educational program and greater academic rigor. In my experience, other private schools and even some local Catholic schools provide a stronger academic foundation. The school promised stem and robotics for young students and that never Was provided. neasc has been notified of all of this yet continues accrediting the school. I was also troubled by concerns regarding professionalism. Teachers were filming a 5-year-old child and sharing the footage with other parents, which raised serious concerns about privacy and judgment. Additionally, there appeared to be ongoing challenges with teacher retention, resulting in staffing changes and classrooms being reassigned when teachers unexpectedly left. This created unnecessary disruption and inconsistency for students. The school has a beautiful campus and tremendous potential, but the overall organization felt disjointed. Too many things seemed to be handled on the spot rather than through well-established systems and planning. Frequent staffing changes, inconsistent communication, and a lack of clear structure contributed to the feeling that the school was poorly managed. Horrible horrible leadership. I also noticed that Google reviews are no longer available for the school. While I cannot speak to the reason, I believe prospective families should carefully research the school and speak directly with both current and former families before making a significant financial commitment. I would also encourage families to look beyond ratings on sites such as Niche. In my experience, those ratings did not accurately reflect what we encountered. When negative reviews are posted, it can appear that positive reviews quickly follow, making it difficult for prospective families to get a balanced picture of the school's strengths and weaknesses. As a result, I found the online portrayal of the school to be misleading compared to our actual experience.
