This place is a gem for a delicious 5-star dining experience. My husband made a reservation in case the 4th of July was busy but we were glad to be one of two groups dining around 3pm. Greeted and seated almost immediately. We had a friendly and polite lady server (Chastity). We ordered garlic cheese bread, chai tea latte, matcha latte, filet mignon well done, braised rib, and ribeye medium well. While we waited for our food, we were looking at the art on the walls - a lot of interesting pieces from a local gallery. The teas and garlic cheese bread arrived around 5 minutes later. The cheese on the garlic bread was exceptionally good, very smooth. The teas were strong, and thankfully not super small like other places. The entrees arrived about 20 minutes after the bread which gave us time to catch up and talk. My husband's filet mignon was just to his liking, well done so zero pink and the mashed potatoes were done well. My braised rib was exactly like the waitress description of a very soft roast beef / beef brisket. My FIL's ribeye was to his liking and he finished it, which was rare. My wife and I ate breakfast here after church on a Sunday morning. Located in a strip mall adjacent to the Ocala Police Department HQ, this place looked more inviting inside. Upon sitting down, we struck up a conversation with a couple who were waiting on two other couples. They apparently have a standing "breakfast date" at Live Fire every Sunday morning. My wife ordered an omelet served with breakfast potatoes and artisan bread and I ordered a classic breakfast with scrambled eggs, potatoes and artisan bread. Breakfast was very good. What stood out to us was how fluffy the eggs were and how savory both the potatoes and artisan bread were. All we could think was how this feels like breakfast elevated to another level...not the usual breakfast fare. Wonderful restaurant in an otherwise nondescript location. Have eaten at Live Fire several times now and every time has been solid. It's awesome having another local, non-chain restaurant in Ocala with management that clearly cares. Ribeye was cooked perfectly and love the broccolini and the twice baked potato. The whole dish is simple but really well prepared. Pecan salmon is also really good, with a subtle sweetness and crunch. Highly recommend the butter toffee cake for dessert. The outside of the restaurant shouldn't fool you as the inside is surprisingly nice and really like the inclusion or real local art for sale on the walls. Service every time has been very good, keeping everything nicely topped up and checking on us. Overall, if you're looking for a quality, local restaurant in Ocala would highly recommend. read more

First of all I would give this place a 10 if I could. I'm traveling for work and came across this place on google reviews for the best place to eat in Ocala, FL. On a Saturday night, with one of the twins in tow, we decided to have dinner at Live Fire Chefs (on Pine next door to the police station). We discussed it back and forth and finally decided to have sandwiches/burgers instead of entrees in order to leave room for dessert. We were seated right away and got our drink order in and our food order in without much delay. The place was fairly busy, but the waitstaff seemed to have everything under control. A classic ruben with fries, a steakhouse burger with fries, and a Bacon Lettuce Tomato & Avocado sandwich with fries came out very fast and were exactly what we wanted. Last night was our first time here. I have to say this a hidden gem. The minute we walked in the staff was very accommodating, especially Jordan who waited on us was terrific. The menu is very eclectic, with many options, all that are reasonably priced. My wife had the braised short ribs, and I had the chicken parm. Last week 25 of my neighbors got together for dinner. I had been to Live Fire Chefs a few times and coordinated this dinner for the newcomers to try it out. Some of our Sunday Card group made our weekly pilgrimage to a local eatery this evening for dinner. We were greeted as we entered Live Fire Chef's by a lovely Hostess who took us directly to our fully set, waiting table. Waitress Chastity was at our table shortly after with ice water and to offer drink menus and appetizers. We ordered our meals which were prepared and delivered to our table in a timely manner. Chastity checked on us throughout our dinner ensuring everything was to our liking. The Chef visited our table to ask about our meals and to verify that they were cooked to order. All of our food and drinks were reasonably priced and prepared to our tastes. Special thanks to Owner Patrick for helping with our reservation and for having such a capable staff on hand. Unassuming restaurant in a strip mall impresses with amazing food and service. They take reservations but I didn't need one. I was seated promptly. The menu looked amazing! Unfortunately they were out of the beef stroganoff, so I had the meatloaf. But other items such as the salmon, the steaks, and the beef short rib would be a typical dinner choice for me, but I was set on a homestyle meal. I had a glass of iced tap water and asked for a glass of red zin. I was surprised by the size of the pour! The meatloaf was delicious. Chef said they were out of the Boursin whipped potatoes so they subbed the rosemary Parmesan fries instead. The fries were great! They stayed crisp even as I took my time with the meatloaf and green beans. J typically don't prefer green beans but I ate every single one of these. Now, I usually have to ask for salt when I go out, so I was pleased to see the salt shaker already on my table. However- I didn't even have to use it. The dish was perfectly salted. For dessert, I had the butter toffee cake which was recommended by my server. It was really good but I did not finish it. I think it would be perfect to share. Also, I ate all my dinner except maybe 6 fries so I was kinda full haha. I was talking with the waitress a lot and mentioned the Bloody Mary and coffee specialty drinks seemed perfect for brunch. Apparently, they do brunch Saturday and Sunday from 9-3! She brought me a paper copy of the menu that I could take home, which includes the lunch and brunch menu. (See pics). Was visiting friends in Ocala and they suggested Live Fire Chefs. Would say this is 4.5 stars as the staff is friendly the ambience is cozy & the food was excellent! There were 5 of us and each entree as mentioned above was excellent. I had the Pub Burger w/fries & Cole Slaw, my wife had the Reuben w/fries, my mother-in-law had the Grilled Cheese w/ Tomato Bisque, our friend Jeff had the Steak Burger w/fries & Greg had the Grilled Cheese w/salad. All were presented well (sorry no pics), good temperature & served in a good amount of time after ordering. Very mellow vibe overall. I really enjoy the atmosphere, service, and quality of food each time we come here. Really the only recommendation I would make to the chef/owner's is to include GF options and a big one for me which would make me visit more often is to switch out seed oils for avocado oil and/or beef tallow. I had a wonderful experience at this restaurant! I started with a Bloody Mary with extra horseradish and it came just as I requested and it arrived with hot bacon & stuffed olives. I had the chicken Marsala which was delicious, the Marsala sauce was very flavorful and rich. This came with risotto and broccolini. Was exceptionally good! My husband had their steak burger and fries. Burger was delicious and fries were yummy. Our friends had their meatloaf and mashed potatoes with Brussels sprouts and the salmon piccata with rice and green beans. Everything was delicious! As predicted from reviews, the service was good, I was sat immediately, my drink order taken and server attentive and patient with my questions. I wasn't sure what I wanted, brunch or lunch so took me a bit to decide, and since it was late morning and I hadn't eaten, I went with the eggs Benedict as it is one of my favorite guilty pleasures and I don't give in much! It took almost 25 minutes to get my meal. The place was not even half full, but it appeared that they filled one tables order at a time, which is a long process in this case. My eggs were cooked well, I asked for runny and they were. The Hollandaise delicious, the bacon was soggy, and the avocado slices made for an interesting taste combination.
