I came to this library because I had an event in Livermore and needed a space to get some work done. The interior of the library is gorgeous with the stone pillars and warm lighting. I found multiple open tables on that Wednesday afternoon. It wasn't a completely silent area, but it wasn't loud enough to distract me from working. There were outlets on the table, and the Wi-fi was pretty fast and reliable! There's plenty of parking in their designated parking lot. The restrooms were pretty clean and are located near the front when you enter the building. If I ever need to be in the area again, this would be my go-to study/work spot! read more

What an excellent library. What an excellent library. Before going in they have a fully loaded like Velvet Underground bicycle pump and DIY station for bicycle commuters. We went in just after 3pm slightly bummed missing the wonderful cafe that dishes up healthy veg and non-veg food. Think avocado toast, smoothies, and various concoctions of coffee or tea. They have a unique lending library of monopoly, chess, camping gear, soccer balls, and so much more. On to the books. Smart eclectic selection. Livermore Library has it all and my only grip is five stars is not enough. read more

I'm not sure how old this library, but it looks very new and welcoming. The parking lot is large w/plenty of spaces although they felt more narrow/compact. There's even EV chargers. As you enter, you can see there's a huge lobby area, to the right you'll see a hallway filled w/lovely paintings by local artists and specifically with themes that reflect the local history and culture. There's also a cafe that sells snacks and drinks for very reasonable prices, although it wasn't open on the Sunday that we visited, it looked like a nice place to get a bite to eat if you were hungry, and you don't even have to leave the library. The bathrooms were mostly clean although there was 1 stall in the women's bathroom that was gross due to an inconsiderate patron. They have a library of things right at the front of the library so you can check out tools, video games, board games, small kitchen appliances, etc. Really it's great that they have this. They also have a seed library. There's also a Friends of the Library bookstore towards the front, but it's not always open. Meeting rooms and quiet study rooms are also available to reserve. They also had a wonderful summer reading program and kids can get books and little prizes and raffles too. The children's area is HUGE and the adult/regular book section is really big too. The architecture of this library is lovely with wonderful natural lights from high windows. All in all, this is a nice library with pretty extensive hours, and a wonderful asset to this community. Even as a visitor, we enjoyed our time here and hope to be back and hang out again. read more

I tried the Cafe located in the Livermore library and was sadly disappointed. I was appalled by how ridiculous the prices were for a tiny two bites worth of a sandwich and it was simple in taste nothing special. They also charge absurd prices for bottled/ Canned drinks sold much cheaper at your local gas station. You can easily spend close to $40 for two people and the portions are small to say the least. Not worth it if you're hungry and want a good filling meal. Love the library portion, the Cafe is a hard pass. read more

This is a truly outstanding library for a smaller city. OUTSTANDING, and let me tell you why it's unique: + Gigantor parking lot. You shouldn't have trouble finding parking + A lovely little bike repair station near the entrance in case something sideways happened if you brought your peddle bike over + A cafe where they actually encourage you to eat and drink + Clean bathrooms with many, many stalls. + A LIBRARY OF THINGS where you can check out board games, moving dollys, Mifis, Nintendo Switch consoles, video games, a laminator, bread machine, ice cream machine... Honestly, this gets me and my sister to drive 20 minutes from Dublin to borrow things. And some of the things you want to borrow you use seldomly and have no space for in your own Bay Area home. Or perhaps after your mortgage, you don't have the discretionary income to afford. This Library of Things is a selling point. ~Opportunities~ Do y'all want to have a maker center (a la San Diego and San Francisco)? This could help you outpace other local libraries. ::SUMMER FUN:: Loved the little reading challenge over the summer. I didn't have more than two weeks or so to participate, but I enjoyed the little prizes for the amount of participation I could manage. read more

I first checked out the Livermore Public Library when I was visiting the Daily Grind, their cafe. But this past week, I actually got to hang out and explore the library and I love it. I'm a book lover so loving libraries is pretty easy for me. But y'all, this library is beautiful. Not only are there so many spaces and tables to work, the high ceilings and big windows make it feel like you're not just cooped up in some claustrophobic enclosed space. It's easy to get work done with the light shining in and the quiet in the space. I even saw one guy fall asleep in one of the chairs with a newspaper in his lap and that says one of two things: either the news was extra boring or this library is just THAT peaceful (my votes on the latter bc let's be real there's always something crazy happening in the news). But my favorite part has got to be the book store in the front. I found some new release, hard cover books for just $3 each. I walked out with 4 books for $11 and I could've gotten stuck there buying more if I didn't have to jet to a meeting. I'm already looking forward to the next time I can get some work done here. I guess I have always focused on the "after the library" treats we get at the cafe inside but never stopped to say how awesome and amazing our Livermore Public Library actually is. I've come here when Xfinity sucks and I need internet. I've come here for homeschool books for my boys and they LOVE coming here! I've come here just for the cafe and to get photos of my kids outside with the lovely greenery and backdrop for photos. And yes.. come for the books! Easy to reserve and hold online, easy to find online and also at the branch. Friendly faces that welcome you in and always someone to help when you need it. If I'm ever feeling like I need to be part of Livermore, a trip to the Library grounds me and makes me feel at home! read more

I go to this library 3-4 times a week, very nice staff and clean environment. My children love the play area in the children area. If you want to rent a room I would recommend doing it well in advance (3-5 days before) as they fill up quick read more

Best library I've ever been to. Bathrooms are clean and don't smell weird, tables are fairly clean other than library users finger prints, it's almost always quiet. They have rooms you can book if you want to study with people. They have plenty of seats and each table has outlets. read more

Great library! We came here for a work function and I was so impressed. The library is beautifully done. There are high ceilings which make this library feel really spacious. Things also look either new or really well taken care of. My favorite part of the library is that they had a cafe. What a great way to create an inclusive and comfortable environment for patrons to enjoy. Pros: -free parking (parking lot) -large and beautiful library -clean, large restrooms -cafe!!!! How have I not written a review for the Livermore library yet? It's probably one of my favorite libraries that I've ever been to, and I've been to a ton of libraries! When I lived in Livermore, I loved coming here all the time. Parking is also never a problem, and the lots are really big too. in terms of design, I love how spacious and beautifully well-lit this library is - tall ceilings, many windows, stone-tiled columns, many wooden tables and armchairs to sit at. The ambiance is clean, soothing, and comfortable; the architecture and layout are quite nice. The Reading Room is especially lovely. The cafe, which I've only been to a couple times, is also a nice addition. Typically, the main areas of the library are relatively quiet. On weekday evenings and weekend afternoons, there may be many visitors, but the spaciousness of the library dampers the sound. There's a homeless guy who I see every now and then - sometimes he's snoring loudly or just reading a comic book - but he doesn't detract from the overall experience. The library is great for studying, reading, working, whatever else. I feel so calm and productive when I'm here, and I've never had any issues with wifi either. There are always open tables or chairs. In regard to the actual features of book-borrowing - I've also had really great luck with finding books I couldn't get at any other libraries! The request hold feature is fantastic - the library will send over books from other branches, and picking up a book is simple and convenient. There's also now a way to link your library account with text, so you can receive alerts about your borrowed books, and send texts to renew / get statuses on them. I also appreciate that you can pay off fines online. It's free, comfortable, has good wifi, always at a perfect temperature, and you're surrounded by thousands of books - what's not to love? read more

I'm a college student and let me just say that this place is such a great place to study and get work done. It's so spacious and beautiful inside. I had such a wonderful experience with one of the employees but I unfortunately didn't get her name. I signed up for a library card (which is free) and it only took 2 minutes to get. They even have a little cafe with coffee and food. College students need to utilize the Livermore public library! read more

Whenever I walk into the Livermore Public Library, I feel happy knowing that at least some of my hard-earned tax dollars are being spent wisely. The library is spacious, clean and well-organized, with plenty of comfortable seating, computer terminals, and private rooms for group study or meetings. If you have little ones, you MUST go to this library. The kids section alone is as big as some other libraries! Besides books and DVDs for all ages, they have computer terminals and listening stations, a toddler area (complete with benches and tables and sofas and stuffed toys!), and a special room for painting and other activities. There's even a separate kids bathroom in here! As summer is just winding down, I must mention the library's summer reading program. They track up to 35 books your kids read and they can come in to claim prizes and do activities (like face painting) after every 5th book read. Both my girls took part this summer and loved this program. Other things I love about the library are the excellent wifi, polite and efficient service, regularly updated art on the walls, concerts and other events, outdoor seating areas to enjoy a cuppa from the adjoining cafe, and beautiful grounds if one wants to take a break and stretch ones legs. I love this Library! To be fair, I love most libraries. But this one is pretty and on a walking trail, so I can get there from my house without driving! They also have a little cafe, although, I haven't tried it. And my library card has wine grapes on it! (They are practically located in the Livermore vineyards.) The staff seems friendly, and they have a good selection. I also like that they use Overdrive (download the app and login with your library card for FREE eBooks and audiobooks for your phone, iPad, Kindle, etc.) If you don't use this library, you're missing out. Their app is also convenient for renewing items and checking availability. read more

This is a very attractive and accommodating library. The best part is the great cafe which is located near the entrance. It actually has good food and many options. I attended a story time with my son and we also read books and played. We have gone about three times. I don't live in the area but this is a really good library based on others I have been to. What is better than a building full of books? A building full of FREE BOOKS! Our Livermore Public Library Civic Center branch is, in a word, resplendent. The architecture and layout are really beautiful and if you wander to the back you can see what a green city Livermore is and see a huge solar array which is attached to the Civic Center. There are so many helpful librarians and techs at the library as well as a great selection of books in person AND via ebook OverDrive. I use this service SO much and thanks to my Livermore Library card I have access to thousands of ebook titles which are delivered directly to my Kindle. Also of note is the Friends of the Livermore Library bookstore which is located inside the library's main entrance (hang a louie). There you can find a plethora of already read books for purchase at an incredible value. Each month the Friends also have a giant book sale. We love to donate our books, DVDS, music knowing that others will find new life and love. The Livermore Library also hosts a variety of wonderful programs, authors and special events. Our family was excited to attend Andy Weir's appearance. If you haven't read The Martian yet, DO! It's a fantastic book with a humble genesis. Finally, the Livermore Library is a place where my heart resides because our doodle Darwin and I are a Paws to Read team. Each week during the school year (check with the library for dates/times) children sign up and can read to different dogs. If you find a curly brown love bug that is Darwin and he especially loves books about dogs, but he's happy to hear all sorts of stories. I love that the Livermore Library has this program that fosters a love of reading and builds confidence in young readers. Reading, in my humble opinion, is the foundation of all learning and understanding. Do yourself a favor and visit the Livermore Public Library today! I used to come here during the weekdays to study after work with friends and it's a great environment for collaboration and quiet study time. The best part about this library is that it closes at 9pm, the latest I've ever seen a library open. There are so many large tables to study at with a lamp that you can turn on for more lighting. The chairs are pretty comfortable too and there weren't any suspicious individuals in the library, even late at night. I didn't have the chance to explore the rest of the library but I can speak for their late hours and study desks, so clean! read more

This place is an oasis that I wish I had discovered sooner. It makes the Danville Public Library look like a dusty old closet! PROS: + This place is huge. You will always find a table to sit at by yourself. + Has a cafe inside! Great for if you're hungry / thirsty while studying. + Relatively quiet. Occasionally there will be the stereotypical misbehaved kid screaming their head off, but compared to Danville where the screaming is constant, I'd prefer this place any day. + Has longer hours compared to the other public libraries (at least from what I've seen) + Located right next to a police station, so I feel safe. + So many books! There's a genre for almost anything you can think of. + Lots of computers available for use. CONS: - I wish the cafe was open later (it closes at 5pm) - I wish the library was open later I'm sad I won't be around this place anymore, otherwise I'd totally come here more often! The Livermore public library is a beautiful facility with many amenities. I like going there to write papers or work on projects. They have spacious areas with tables and chairs for people to work. The wifi works well, and each table has outlets. The only con is that sometimes some of the other patrons are loud and disruptive. There are a lot of people who talk loudly on their phones. There is one man in particular who often yells and swears loudly and repeatedly. I really wish that library staff would say something, especially since there are often children around when this happens. During covid, their policy is that everyone must wear a mask at all times. Some people ignore this rule, and again I wish that library staff would do something about this. read more

Great idea...DD and I stopped in after story time for sammie on the patio. Too bad the bread was sooo stale!! Come on...just pitch it when it gets moldy smelling...yucky!!! I spent $8 bucks on a small turkey sammie, cookie, and coke. It looked like a good idea, Boars Head meat, nice choices of condiments. Well, all we ate was the turkey, and the cheese, but the bread was not edible. Also, don't say "avocado" when all you do is put a thin coat of avocado spread....not good to misrepresent it!! Without this place, I wouldn't have been able to complete my master's action research in such comfort! The structure of the place is beautiful, as is the organization of materials. You can get a back table looking out onto grass and the outdoors. You can go outside of the children's area and read your newly checked out books on the grass in the shade. It's very wonderful in terms of ambiance and supporting the reading atmosphere. The children's area displays are always updated with vibrancy. Best thing for us travelers is that you can have your passports done here! So much better than going to the post office. read more

How come this place doesn't have its own section?! Well, it does now!!! When it comes to used books this is probably the best kept secret in Livermore. The books are really cheap -- $1 for hard cover and oversized paperbacks, 50-cents for mass-market paperbacks. The CDs are $1. VHS tapes and DVDs are also $1, I believe, unless otherwise marked. New releases are often priced $3 or more, which is a rip but thankfully those are few and far in between. Livermore's library has the best selection of any FoL I've been too and the ladies who run the register do a wonderful job. Let's thank our volunteers. What's even more amazing is that all those books on the shelves? Donations. Livermore's FoL is nonprofit and the money goes to the upkeep of the beautiful library, whose praises I believe I've already sung in another review. (Seriously, have you been to the library yet? Go. Go now.) BUT THAT'S NOT ALL! NOPE! IT GETS BETTER! On the first Sunday of every month, the Friends of the Livermore Library Bookstore has a huge clear-out sale at the old library, which is just down the road -- it's that large ominous stone building with the creepy modern art sculptures in front of it. At this sale, there are two (sometimes three) tables of free books, and hard cover books are fifty cents and paper back books are -- wait for it -- twenty-five cents. They also have a table of children's books at the very end with all sorts of treasures and classics. I always smile when I see parents bringing their kids here. I was so happy after we got this new, amazing library! Growing up, I remember going to the older, smaller one, and just having the time of my life with my siblings, but nowadays we can enjoy the nostalgia next door with out new-and-improved modern library! I love how big it is; there are so many books that my inner-nerd is squealing with delight. I come here about every week or so to frequent the bookstore, too! You can donate your old, unused books here so that they can re-sell them. All the profits benefit your local library. Win-win situation! They also have a very nice cafe where you can order a coffee, italian soda, or a sandwich while you kick back and study/read. I'm so glad Livermore put in the effort to provide it's public with such a great place to hang out and read. I can easily say we have the coolest library in the tri-valley! read more

This library is pretty amazing. Beautiful on inside and out. Helpful friendly staff. Nice cafe. I've only come here so far for the baby storytime for prewalkers on Friday mornings. The storyteller is really good and my daughter very much enjoys the stories, songs and interactions with other babies. The only con I have is that my baby has ended up with a runny nose/sick 2 if not 3 times now and im fairly certain it's from playing with the toys that are brought out. So. I could be wrong but i really feel like the rattles are not being sanitized (after the 20-30mins of storytime they bring out toys for the babies to play with which is great but not if they're not clean). read more

My boyfriend and I come to this library often and we love it! The workers at the daily grind are super friendly. The library is very resourceful and there's lots of space. We like utilizing the study rooms to help each other study without disrupting others around us. My boyfriend also loves that there's EV charging there as well! read more

I was playing music on a computer and using video equiptment in a quiet work room which I reserved. I was told by a Male librarian that the music was to noise. I agreed to stop and leave. When I asked where someone was to Los tree en to music I was told not here but could use a head ser in the quiet room which seems to negate needing a quiet room . When I asked what the quiet rooms were for? I was told for quiet reading and studying. That too seemed it could happen without a quiet room in the regular library. It seems Livermore Public Library is against music cause its noise or at least one employee thinks so and classified music as noise. Wow the day the music died. read more

The Livermore Public Library is a great size, with a wide array of books, movies, music, and other media. They bring in a lot of new titles, so if there is something you're dying to read, there's a good chance you'll be able to find it here. Your library card also gives you access to thousands of more ebooks/audiobooks on the Overdrive app. The staff is always courteous and helpful, which is not always the case at every library. This has quickly become one of my favorite places to study in the tri-valley. There are a handful of small tables in the back behind all of the stacks, but those are in high-demand and are typically claimed right when they open. There are larger tables in the middle of the library, so you don't get as much privacy, but all of the tables have lamps and working outlets. Wi-fi is always fast and easy to connect to. read more
