Much easier to use their system to print than the downtown Livermore library!! I haven't been in the Springtown library since I was a kid, and aside from the small space they have to work with and the cities recent budget cuts, I was very pleased to use this facility!

The city's office for recreational programs are now housed in the library. Their staff is friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable. A gem for the City of Pleasanton.

Wifi was so slow I was not able to print the document I intended so I left with my intent failed…read more It seems likely that they are not safeguarding the integrity of the wifi to make sure people are not abusing it because they are playing online action games or performing other non-library activities, which places a crushing blow to internet traffic on everyone else. I first saw this in the software company I worked at in the 1990's where engineers would start playing online games in the afternoon and the internet slowed to a crawl exactly like what I observed at this library this week. Back in the 1990's it was not possible to control this activity. Now it is. Pleasanton is falling behind. This is not the 1990's! Upgrade your systems! To stop public Wi-Fi from being overwhelmed by heavy gaming, high-definition streaming, or massive background downloads, you don't actually need software installed on individual patron devices. Instead, the standard industry practice is to use network-level management through a Next-Generation Firewall (NGFW) or DNS-based content filtering.

Adj: Retreat for Refreshing the Mind (and Body)!…read more On a sizzling hot summer day when it was nearly 100 even in East Bay, we were glad we were not in Sacramento as it was over 100 and climbing. We had escaped to the coast for the weekend, and spent Sunday night in Dublin so we decided to chill in a local library for part of the day on Monday before heading home. This is a REALLY nice library. I'm easily impressed by nicer public buildings. Our collective tax dollars at work, lol. In any case, this must be a newer building, but according to the City of Dublin, the original library "opened on May 21, 1914, in a small general store at Dublin Boulevard and Donlon Way. Over the decades, it expanded through various community locations before moving to its current 38,100-square-foot modern facility at the Dublin Civic Center in April 2003." So the current location is still over 20 years old, but you wouldn't think so by the looks of it, everything looked very new and well-kept. The lobby is big and welcoming w/library holds and an info-desk with friendly staff. Then there's a whole bunch of larger tables that sit 6-8 people each for reading and a couple rows of computers you can reserve even as a guest. The rest of the left side of the library are adult stacks of all genre, and the right side of the library, taking up almost 1/2 of the whole place was for the kids! It really was a big area w/a story-time reading and play cove towards the back, and then a bunch of shorter bookshelves filled with children's books and then several kids computers towards the children's librarian's desk. I'm glad I got to visit and hang out here for several hours and we even stayed and watched a couple of kids movies in the community room and my kids and I had a great time escaping reality at the library, haha.

Pros: - It keeps its facility cool on the very hot days. - Parking is under solar panels that keep the vehicles cool. Nice that they're also generating energy. - Lots of books to stay entertained with knowledge. - this library is huge and has so many areas to sit and read, study, get work done etc. Cons: - Wi-Fi connection is very spotty at best. Not sure if that's the case often and an ongoing problem or if it's just bc of the heat maybe affecting the Wi-Fi. - not open on Fridays. All in all, a really big, well built and nicely maintained library that surely serves the community well.

There's an area for FLW books and info, but the rest of the library is like any other public library and offers lots of services and products. I really enjoyed the back room which had a small exhibit about the history of Chilean people in the area. The librarians were all so welcoming and helpful! As I walked around, many greeted me warmly and also were masked -- both gestures were much appreciated!

Everything is mostly downstairs, but upstairs they have a section for teens. My children are younger, so we were in the kids section mostly. They currently have some fun reading summer challenges. They also have cute play stations for kids. And a 3D printer.

It's top-tier -- great technology, plenty of different spaces to choose from, and it's easy to find a quiet area without a lot of noise or distractions. The ability to reserve a room is also simple and convenient. As far as I remember from a couple years ago, you didn't even need a library card just to come in and use the space, which I also appreciated. The staff has always been friendly and helpful, and I've never had a bad experience here -- not with staff, patrons, or maintenance. I also really respect that they're open on the weekends. Libraries like this are exactly what communities should have and what other areas should model.

The Children's area has multiple seating areas and it was nice to have space to spread out with my toddler. We will definitely be going back the next time we are in the area.

Great place to study!…read more There are 3 floors but I get my steps in by walking up to the 3rd floor to sit down at one of the tables to get work done. I like this area because it is actually quiet and there are outlets right on the table. The wi fi is easy to access and is not slow. There are available study rooms to reserve. I would not suggest reserving one if you are looking for a quiet space (in case it does get loud in the main area) because the walls are thin and you can hear others speaking in the rooms next to you. I'd say that it is good to reserve for a group study session or if you need a whiteboard with the necessary dry erase markers. The location is really good because it's within walking distance to coffee shops and restaurants in case you need to grab a coffee before starting to study or need to take a break and get something to eat. There is plenty of parking in the parking garage!

The layout is very well organized, and there's plenty of natural light from the tall windows (highlighting the setting of surrounding redwoods). The lovely & historical art displayed on the walls downstairs is very interesting to peruse and look at. I use my library membership here to access a few online apps to borrow books (Libby & Hoopla), and I always find what I'm looking for as the access is not just MV library, but includes all Marin County libraries. Also, icing on the vegan cake is that on the side of the building is a small but very well stocked used bookstore -the Friends of the Library Bookstore- with a diverse selection of secondhand books at incredibly low prices.
