We finally decided to check out the Tracy branch library. I've driven by a million times and never…read morechecked it out. The exterior of the library and the surrounding park are fairly nice. There's a rose garden, some really big trees, lots of lawn and an overall relaxing serene feel. When you walk inside, it's apparent that this library needs a face lift. Fluorescent lighting, old carpet and yellowish paint on the walls. All of the computers were caution taped off and out of order. With that said, if you're stopping in for books or a place to sit with your laptop, they seemed to have a good variety of both books, and seating areas. My daughter loved the large dinosaur in the center of the kids section. The perfect enticing addition for a toddler!

The children's section is good sized and colorful. There's a good amount of books and half a dozen computers for kids to learn and play on. Next to the kids area is the community room which was having a Friends of the Library sale, everything was 5 for $1! The selection was big, but the items all quite dated or not really the besr stuff, hence the price hehe. The rest of the library is pretty big too, the adult section is large, I didn't see a teens section but it was probably there. Tons of natural light from the windows up high in the main section. It's a quiet and serene place to read and relax. Only thing is the bathrooms could only be accessed by asking the security guard lady to open it for 1 person to use at a time, 15 minute time limit. But they were clean for that reason, not allowing for open access. Overall, this is a decently good library in Tracy that's part of the San Joaquin-Stockton library system.

Who doesn't love libraries?!…read more This library is our favorite! It is kept clean, organized, and have a wide variety of children's books to choose from. Staff and volunteers are always helpful. As other libraries, this branch also offer self-checkouts and easy drop offs. They they also offer automatic extension for borrowed items and you can also put books on hold if you are waiting on a specific one. I also had a privilege of using one of the conference rooms with other mom friends to help our kids with their homework. Parking is ample and is located in downtown Brentwood, so you can also shop, eat, play and walk around after. If you also want to support the library, one way is to check out their second hand books on the second floor or donate books as well.

Not only is it location in a very busy area that would make it tough to visit if you aren't able to walk or use public transportation (parking on the street is metered & in high demand and the parking lot is beyond small), but the location itself is quite small. It feels almost like a satellite branch than an actual library. I guess it would be good for just working, but that's about it. It didn't look like it had much of a selection. Finally, I want to believe it was a one off, but the librarian who helped me was the first in over a dozen library visits who wasn't beyond friendly and helpful. She just seemed to not want to be there that day. It just capped off a disappointing trip.

I first saw this in the software company I worked at in the 1990's where engineers would start playing online games in the afternoon and the internet slowed to a crawl exactly like what I observed at this library this week. Back in the 1990's it was not possible to control this activity. Now it is. Pleasanton is falling behind. This is not the 1990's! Upgrade your systems! To stop public Wi-Fi from being overwhelmed by heavy gaming, high-definition streaming, or massive background downloads, you don't actually need software installed on individual patron devices. Instead, the standard industry practice is to use network-level management through a Next-Generation Firewall (NGFW) or DNS-based content filtering.

Adj: Retreat for Refreshing the Mind (and Body)!…read more On a sizzling hot summer day when it was nearly 100 even in East Bay, we were glad we were not in Sacramento as it was over 100 and climbing. We had escaped to the coast for the weekend, and spent Sunday night in Dublin so we decided to chill in a local library for part of the day on Monday before heading home. This is a REALLY nice library. I'm easily impressed by nicer public buildings. Our collective tax dollars at work, lol. In any case, this must be a newer building, but according to the City of Dublin, the original library "opened on May 21, 1914, in a small general store at Dublin Boulevard and Donlon Way. Over the decades, it expanded through various community locations before moving to its current 38,100-square-foot modern facility at the Dublin Civic Center in April 2003." So the current location is still over 20 years old, but you wouldn't think so by the looks of it, everything looked very new and well-kept. The lobby is big and welcoming w/library holds and an info-desk with friendly staff. Then there's a whole bunch of larger tables that sit 6-8 people each for reading and a couple rows of computers you can reserve even as a guest. The rest of the left side of the library are adult stacks of all genre, and the right side of the library, taking up almost 1/2 of the whole place was for the kids! It really was a big area w/a story-time reading and play cove towards the back, and then a bunch of shorter bookshelves filled with children's books and then several kids computers towards the children's librarian's desk. I'm glad I got to visit and hang out here for several hours and we even stayed and watched a couple of kids movies in the community room and my kids and I had a great time escaping reality at the library, haha.

Pros: - It keeps its facility cool on the very hot days. - Parking is under solar panels that keep the vehicles cool. Nice that they're also generating energy. - Lots of books to stay entertained with knowledge. - this library is huge and has so many areas to sit and read, study, get work done etc. Cons: - Wi-Fi connection is very spotty at best. Not sure if that's the case often and an ongoing problem or if it's just bc of the heat maybe affecting the Wi-Fi. - not open on Fridays. All in all, a really big, well built and nicely maintained library that surely serves the community well.

I was searching for some local activities that I could do with my two month old baby. The library…read moreoffers so many amazing classes for children, teens and adults! We attended a storytelling/ playtime class. There was singing, hand gestures and lots of toys. It was so much fun. Lots of toddlers too! I am looking forward to more activities. We also got our first library card. We now have access to several other libraries in the area. We checked out a few books. We are hoping to also join the 1000 books before kindergarten next time we go. Overall, it was clean, spacious areas for all ages.

They have lots of selections to choose from and if they don't have it in hand, they can locate it for you. They'll notify you once they receive it so you can pick it up. All Contra Costa libraries do and they all swap books. It is so convenient here and very friendly staff.

Driving through Mountain House, one of the things that stands out is the modernization of the area. You don't really find vintage businesses or historical sites, which hints that this area must of sprouted from vasts of rural land recently developed perhaps in the last few years. It certainly has great potential and opportunity for growth. The only surprise, which honestly shouldn't be, is the skyrocketing real estate prices on the recently built homes in this area. Other than that, it's a nice place to stop by on your way to Tracy.

I'm not surprised about the increase in thefts because when you build a 24 hour expensive Safeway w/a gas station there's bound to be crime just around the corner. My trigger is when the mountain house service department at the time decided to tow my brand new truck and trailer. MH was not a city until it became effective in July 2024. My trigger took place a month before that when I was towed from an area across the street from the park. There are no parking signs & no tow away signs. It's open to the public & people park there day and night walking their dogs running doing whatever they do but on this date when I was towed, I was told that the reason it was towed was because the street was owned by a HOA. The county sheriff condoned the whole incident via TELEPHONE between MH officials & the county sheriffs department. The county sheriffs department then backtracked when I confronted them and said they had nothing to do with it because it was a HOA thing. Well I was confused, because I've been here since 2006 & I hadn't realized that the public street sidewalk and grass area by the creek and park were owned by a HOA. I must've been confused about where my tax money was going and the number of public servants that run around mountain house and the park area in particular cleaning and working on it. And to boot the tow company took a picture of my vehicle and my trailer & not one sticker & not one citation was visible on either vehicle . Yet when I picked up my vehicle from the tow yard it was lit up like a Christmas tree with green stickers on every side, white citations on every side of the vehicle and the trailer. But the picture that they took looked like a trophy picture. I'd only had my vehicle there for 4 days. I was getting ready for a trip so I was cleaning and storing things in it. So, when they took the vehicles they actually took all my items with it; every expensive thing that I use when I travel. I've never been so violated in my life!!!! As I explained to the Sheriffs , that if the HOA indeed owned this street & adjacent sidewalks and it's private property then where are the sign postings. People shouldn't be confused about whether their vehicle has been stolen or even where it's been stored. There are laws about this . Again, the county sheriffs department washed their hands of it said we know nothing about that, "WE didn't do it". The wonderful thing about living in a neighborhood is that you want to feel safe and secure. When the policies and procedures start to turn on me, I feel immense distrust in the public servants of this community . The "lets make it up as we go, cover for one another, & make lots if money even if rules need to bend" policies and procedures just don't work for me. We simply don't share the same values . It's kind of like having cancer. I just don't appreciate being manipulated by predatory like businesses and lied to by public officials that get paid because I pay my taxes. I don't think I deserve this as I pay a lot of taxes to stay here. So, I've decided to lease my place & move elsewhere because having life, liberty, and happiness in my neighborhood means more to me than anything else!
