I came here for a Yelp Elite event, and the staff of Liverpool Art Center were WONDERFUL! Be warned: this is not your "step by step, paint-nite, everybody is painting the same thing" sort of place- you get to choose your own picture from the many choices they have, you get a canvas, the'll give you the paints and brushes, give you basic pointers, and off you go! If you need more assistance, they'd be happy to help- but otherwise, you have free reign! If you want to change up the colors on the picture, that's definitely allowed and they'll give you a different paint palette so you can achieve that! This would be a great place to have a girls' night, a bachelorette event, birthday party, etc.! read more

I was curious and decided to sign up, and then I created this here during one of my first class (pic attached). The teacher (and owner) was very helpful and showed me tips and tricks I would of never thought of. The atmosphere was inviting and relaxing, a very family vibe. The other students were nice and welcomed me with open arms. (: I would recommend this to anyone who's looking for art lessons, the whole experience was pleasurable from beginning to end! I really enjoyed my night at sip and paint. It was so fun, and relaxing. I'm not an artist, like zero ability. However I was able to create a painting I really like with the instruction of the Artists at Liverpool Arts Center. There were a lot of choices to paint, and everything we needed to paint our own masterpiece! Everyone was so nice and really helpful. This would be a great night out with the girls, date night or even a solo outing to just zen out and paint! read more

Sip N Paint is a great retreat from everything! A great date night, a great bro-night or anything really. It is über relaxing! You get to bring wine, tea, or beer or anything to sip on really. I'm sure you could bring some snacks too. Once you ease into the space, you make an inspiration selection. They have several pre-done pieces you can choose from to replicate. Throughout the night, you can sip on your drinks, snack on your snacks and have awesome conversation with strangers or your closest friends. The staff guide you through the painting, so there is no reason to feel embarrassed about your artistic ability! It is a great overall experience no matter what. I have no reservations with this place! 5/5 easy. My partner and I did a split painting which consists of two paintings coming together to make one. It is super neat. I wanted to do something different for my Bridal Shower and reached out to Sandra at Liverpool Art Center to see if Sip and Paint would be a good fit for our group of 20. She was great! Her and my mom worked out all the logistics to have enough seats for everyone, a table for gifts and food and the ability to decorate. They even went and bought 2 new tables to accommodate us! We got there early to set up and everything worked out perfectly. We all picked our own paintings and everyone really seems to have a great time. I have been taking classes here for the last 7 months and I plan on continuing for a very long time. Sandra is kind, patient, encouraging, fun loving, and a great teacher. If you are looking for a relaxed, stress free environment to learn art then this is the place for you. Sandra starts everyone off working in acrylics, but when I told her I didn't like the media or painting landscapes, she worked with me to figure out what I wanted to do. I started painting realistic and abstract animals in oil and I love it! I have even started painting at home in my spare time. I would not have been able to do this without Sandra's help, I was afraid of the paint the first time I started and didn't want to mess up. She helped my work through that fear and now I am mixing colors and having a great time! In the 7 months I have been going, Sandra has had to cancel class 1 time, and she gave us plenty of notice. She was also very flexible with when I could make the class up. Also, there have been times when I could not make it to class and Sandra was great about letting me make them up. To sign up for the class all you have to do is print out a form online, fill it out, and fax or mail it to the Liverpool Art Center. Then, give Sandra a call and you can talk to her about when you want to start. Usually start dates are the beginning of the month. In my class on Thursday Night there are 9 people working in different medias. There are people working in oil, acrylic, watercolor, and pastels. 9 people is a lot for one person to teach different medias too, but Sandra goes around the table helping everyone. If you need help and if she is in the middle of helping someone else, all you have to do is ask her to come over and see you when she is done. As long as you are patient and understand that she has a lot of students to get to you will have a great time. I would recommend and have recommended taking classes with Sandra to my family, friends, and anyone I meet that is interested in learning painting and drawing. read more

She brings the best out in everyone's ability, even when you don't realize you have it in you, whether you're just starting out or have been at it for years. Went to sip and paint with some friends. Had a fantastic time. The instructor really helped all of us create a painting that really looked like it was done by a true artist. We cannot wait to spend another fun night learning how to paint. This was a great idea for a cool girls night out. But it would also be great for date night or a fun night with a parent. I bought 4 Living Socials for this business and my husband bought four. We imagined having four enjoyable date nights that did not incude eating out. Unfortunatly for us my husband got another job and had tomove to another state four months before me. This business wants you to preregister online stating who you will be taking the class with. The online registration is cumbersome as it is not a form that can actually be filled out online, it must be printed, filled out and faxed back.It was very difficult to get scheduled with her for the classes. When I explained to the owner that I would be bringing friends in place of my husband she seemed to have attitude. She cancelled one of the scheduled classes that ended with me unable to use all of the classes. When I asked her if I could give a class to a friend it was not at the discount rate of my class but at full price.We found her very unorganized and hard to communicate and she seemed resentful that we were using the Living Socials. I had wanted to tell others about this great chance to get together and do something fun but instead of it being fun it was almost like math class( for someone who isnt good at math) I did learn some technique for which I am grateful but I ended up losing money as I was moving and she wouldent let me give a gift of this class to a friend that might have brought her more business. I am not sure that she understands that she is supposed to make people come back to do business with her again and that bad experiences do get around. read more

It is hurting me to even give this business one star. I agree with another reviewer, their online system sucks. When I personally talked to Sandra about the system she admitted it's limitations but put it off as something in progress. That in itself should have been my 1st clue of poor business practices, unable to accommodate customers paying requests. Next were the classes. They don't teach. My partner and I were so excited about learning how to draw. When we signed up we were told that during the first class we would be given an assessment. All she did was ask us to draw something out of a book and to copy a painting someone else had made. We were given no feedback nor any individualized learning plan. We expected the "assessment " would involve at least some feedback or indicator of what we should concentrate on. There was no orientation at all. We were repeatedly asked what we wanted to focus on even after repeatedly telling them we were there to learn to draw. It was like it went in one ear and out the other. We were given no homework and no learning plan, no lectures, no plan of any kind. We were given no feedback when we took the initiative to make up our own homework. We were shown no examples of the progress we could expect to make in the course. Everyone in the class just seemed to be left to their own devices. It is misleading to even call this a class. The teacher does not "teach" in any meaningful sense of the word. She just wanders around the class room looking occasionally at what people are doing. When you ask questions she provides no explanation that you can use to improve overall just stuff like shorten that line or it needs tweaking. This tells you nothing about why the line needs tweaking which could help in your next drawing. When I complained about her teaching or more accurately her lack of teaching she simply said if I was looking for a structured class with objectives and assignments and lectures I was in the wrong class and I should decide whether I wanted to leave and she would refund our money. She asked me to stop complaining in the hearing of her other students which I did and opted to leave. She sent a refund but charged me and my partner for the session despite having said if we left we would get our money back. She counted that as a class. I am glad most of the money was refunded but I think it was wrong of her to tell me I could leave and get my money back and then charging me for the very day she said it. If she was going to charge me for coming in and expressing dissatisfaction she could have said so on the spot. She never explained her refund policies until she sent the refund checks. These classes were a gift for my 60th birthday and instead of being a joy I feel that my partner and I were ripped off. Do not take this class if you actually want to learn about, tone, perspective, proportion, the properties of various drawing media or any other practical information about drawing. If you just want rent a place to continue teaching yourself at 20 dollars a session maybe this is the place for you. Teacher is more absorbed in her so called process than in meeting the needs of the serious art student. I wish we could get all our money back. read more
