Of course you can borrow books, but they also have a movie and cd lending program. Tons of computers with free internet access! The reason we love to come to this library is the children's area. There is so much fun for FREE at the library! The librarians are super helpful and there's even a security guard at the entrance which makes us feel safer. Staff seemed very friendly and helpful. Didn't do a lot of exploration of the building but it had several floors each with numerous public use computers available.

Many months later, I'm still returning. Despite being small, they have a pretty decent selection. The staff is very sweet, especially one librarian in particular who always greets visitors with the warmest smile. The fact that they're open a little later on Mondays and Tuesdays is super convenient. Being right off Westcott Street, it's in a prime location; you can always swing by for a coffee at Recess or grab some takeout from one of the restaurants if you're hungry for something besides literature.

There were glass light fixtures and a chandelier as well as green modular chairs and retro tables. There is also a living room like area where there's a mod sofa and chairs with two stations you can charge your devices on. There seemed to be 5 women who worked at the library all there at once. It seemed to be a large number for a relatively small library. One managed check-outs and the copying machine, one returned books to shelves, another was at an office desk in the children's book area and two others were by the job hunt computer station stationed at computers. There was also a security guard. The children's area has floor seating in a circle for pow wows. There is an upstairs loft area with more books. I'm unsure if there are desks up there. I did see a chair. I loved the ceiling to floor corner window in the "living room" space of the library. It reminded me of an Eichler home and was super retro. There's a lower basement level that was closed off. There is plenty of parking. There are lots of movies you can check out including newer ones like Guardians of the Galaxy. The first thing I like about this library is the system they have worked out to let you know how quiet a section is supposed to be. Anywhere from social, to silent, you'll see signs posted around the library letting you know the appropriate sound level. Cuts out the ambiguity. There is also ample space allotted for each. I will say that parts of the library is open to the public, given that Upstate is a SUNY school. I personally think it's great to have it available as a resource to the community. But keep in mind that not everyone is a student when leaving stuff laying around. The student computer lab has both Mac's and PCs. The Mac's in particular are new, 27 inch iMACs. Pretty nice if you want to watch lectures or if like me, you consistently have a thousand windows open at a time. The hours are one thing I think could be improved upon. Upstate is the first school I've gone to that doesn't have a dedicated 24 hour library space. It closes at midnight during the week, which suffices most of the time. But on the weekends, they don't open until ten. Fairly inconvenient. Anyway, of the libraries I've studied at, this one is pretty nice. Clean with a super helpful staff. Outside of the occasionally slow WiFi, I don't have any major complaints.

To get in, you pick up a phone at the front door and get permission to enter. The quiet study lounge on the 3rd floor is only accessible to those with badge access. This library has 4 floors (if you include the basement floor, which I have not seen yet). The first floor has computers, puzzles you can play, and plenty of group desks. You are allowed to eat there as well. The 2nd floor has a lounge area that requires badge access. Parking can be tricky because this place is next door to a children's hospital where it is pretty busy. There is street parking but you're only allowed 2 hours of parking if it's before 6PM. The 3rd floor is a decent place to study because there are plenty of outlets, window seats and cubicle style desks with large countertops.

This library has been here forever..I don't read books, but it's a great place to read them if you…read moredo. It's quiet, a great place to do school work, or job work. It's comfortable, warm in the winter time, or cold in the summer time. The hours are kinda lame..but I usually go here with my girlfriend to relax and warm up..and talk or work on stuff. The staff is respectful, and nice!

This is a proper campus, and not modern at all, and the library is at the very heart of it. It's mainly for the college students, but perhaps because I come here with students (one former and one current), they've never given me any trouble. It's a great place to hang out and study if you like "that old smell" because it does have it. One of the better college libraries I've been inside.

As a sophomore at the very prestigious institution of Syracuse University there is only one place I…read morewant to spend my Friday nights: Club Bird. As the #4 party school in the U.S you might ask yourself why would Syracuse University need a library. You thought wrong. Besides visiting the brothers of ZBT, FIJI, or DU at their houses, the next most popular place to socialize is Bird Library, which is how it got its nickname Club Bird. There are 6 floors in bird ranging from the basement(the most social) to Floor 6 where if you drop your pencil you may get jousted. The higher you go up the more quiet you have to be(shhhhh). My personal favorite floor is 2. Fully refurnished, the perfect blend of quiet yet rowdy and just scozy. Even though Bird is my favorite spot on campus, I do have a few complaints which is why it gets a 4 star rating. 1). The lack of outlets 2). The lack of large tables on floor 2 which is why I always have to get to the library very early to reserve my space and 3). The long lines at Pages. The lack of outlets is a serious issue because in an age full of technology everyone needs their devices fully charged. They supply the chargers but not the outlets which is something I hope to fix second semester. Overall this place is full of vibrant students, talkative students, dedicated students and the ones who are looking for a comfortable and accepting place to do their work.
