Filthy facility and untrained staff that are only there to collect a pay check. Np patience and the food is terrible. No one has a phone and they leave people in urine covered blankets that only gets on the floor that no one seems to care about. Pull reviews up google the good reviews are obviously from staff because there's no way they'd get 1 star. Save yourself and your family and run far away from this place! Seaside Nursing and rehabilitation and a Psychiatric ward all in one. Zero stars.

Social services do not respond to phone calls, texts or emails, especially if you're complaining about the facility. Just read the reviews for yourself. Please do not send your loved one here, I can only hope and pray that my mother does not die as I diligently try to get her out! My mother has been there 4 months, since her second week of being there, I've been begging And fighting to get her out. They claim they can't help me! If anybody reading this can direct me to anyone who can help me get her out, pinkorchid74@yahoo... Please send me an email! May God bless the soul who reaches out to me and may God bless each and every human being and sweet loved ones sitting up in that facility that are being neglected current day.. unfortunately, it has forced me to give a one-star rating when they deserve 65,000 negative zeros.

Then they scheduled appointments with his doctors and their transportation person wouldn't show up and he missed the appointments. Then they would order things like a four wheel scooter for him, but nobody would follow up on it, and the order was canceled twice and after three weeks, I was told by a man named Mr. Ramsey that I would need to deal with his physician myself! They were done with him now that he was not a resident. He spent most of the time in his room, depressed, and it was pitiful from one day. He called me and thought he was having a stroke and I had to call back and find the nurses station because nobody had responded to him! If you care about someone, do not send them to this place!!! I would rather keep my loved one in the backyard then send them here! Be forwarned...

My mom was here for about three weeks, and we are so relieved she is now back in her assisted living facility. First, the great: the PT staff is amazing here -- many of the same staff who were there in 2015 were still there, and mom couldn't say enough good about them -- caring, competent, compassionate, patient-centered. Her weekday CNA, Millie, was an absolute gem, and cared so well for my mom. Thanks to Millie and the PT folks! And now, the awful: The weekend "staff" was appalling. Mostly agency staff who didn't know patients and, frankly, were either overworked/understaffed and/or didn't care. Mom waited extended periods of time for pain medication, her calls to the bathroom went unanswered for long periods of time (leading to accidents), and she was left on the toilet for 40 minutes one evening. Responses to our complaints were, for the most part, curt and uncaring. Discharge was a complete disorganized mess. I've worked as a long-term care nurse, and I know this job is hard. I know the system is set up to not work well, and it's even harder in this environment. But a little bit of caring and compassion goes a long way, and we saw it only in a few pockets at Carlton this time around. (And no, I don't want to talk to someone at Carlton to resolve this; they had their chance when my mom was there. Take a hard look at yourselves, folks.)

When you father has a major stroke, it's so hard to know the best place for him where he'll have…read morethe best chance to get better. I believe Brooks was the best place. Definitely they have some areas that need improvement, but the majority of the staff were excellent, especially the doctors, therapists, and administration. Their equipment and protocols are very good. Staffing is (as usual in health care), the biggest concern. They are desperately short on speech therapists. And the quality of many of the CNAs certainly needs improvement (although many were outstanding). If your loved one has trouble communicating or even knowing when to ask for help with basic needs, you will want someone from your family present for the majority of the waking hours to make sure their needs are met. The CNAs are just too busy to check on patients enough to take adequate care of their basic needs. Also, someone will need to be there at all times because you never know when a doctor is going to stop in. If you have any concerns to discuss (which you probably will), or just want to hear a report, you need to be there so you don't miss the visit. The one other thing to consider is the scheduling of therapy. Sometimes the sessions are scheduled too close together. Some recovery/rest/eating/bathroom/medication administration time is needed in between or else little value is gained from the therapy. We often had to ask for adjustments so my (very tired from the stroke) Dad didn't have 2 or 3 hours in a row of therapy. When you think about how weak someone is from ailments/surgeries/medications/stress, asking them to do 1.5 hours of therapy is like asking a well person to do cross fit for a full 1.5 hours! It's a lot! A rest is needed before the next session. But the bottom line is, the majority of the care at Brooks is excellent. The staff are mostly truly caring and go out of their way to give outstanding care. We are so grateful to Dr. Perez, Hugo, Muong Hwa, Michelle, Susie (Jesusa), Irish, Tara, Shaniah, Donna, Kate, and SO many more!
